I was lucky enough to visit Expo 2010 , while i was on a visit to Shanghai (China). And even more lucky and somewhat proud when i happen to visit the Pakistani Pavillion in the mega exhibition, in which more than 190 Countries are participating and is attracting millions and millions of tourists from around the globe. Worthy to mention that Pakistan Pavillion has a budget of $2.8 Million. I Took some pictures, so I thought would share with our viewers. But first, i would like to introduce Expo event -

Expo 2010 is being held on both banks of the Huangpu River in the city of Shanghai, China, from May 1 to October 31, 2010. It is a World Expo in the tradition of international fairs and expositions. The theme of the exposition is “Better City – Better Life” and signifies Shanghai’s new status in the 21st century as the “next great world city”. It is the most expensive Expo in the history of the world’s fairs. The Shanghai World Expo is also the largest World’s Fair site ever at 5.28 square km. More than 190 countries and more than 50 international organizations have registered to participate in the Shanghai World Expo, the largest ever. China expects to receive almost 100 foreign leaders and millions of people from across the world to come and visit the World Expo. More than 70–100 million visitors are expected to visit the expo, the largest in history.

The first Pavillion (stall) i visited was Pakistan along with my parents, so here are some of the exclusive snaps that i bring to you from China;

I dont know how you people are saying that the pavilion is good? It looks like a shelter for the homeless in comparison with the other pavilions. Ofcourse I'm not comparing it with the likes of U.K, U.S., Japan or Australia but they could have put a little more thought into it and made it look half-decent. It looks like utter crap and I feel no pride whatsoever calling that turd the pavillion representing the ingenuity, resilience and prowess of my nation and its people.

But then again, China probably built this pavillion for us as they did for a few other countries whom they are helping prop up. So I guess, at the end of the day, beggars can't be choosers. :no:

oogabooga. I read somewhere that the whole project, built and delivered, was an investment of some $5million. most of which came from private pakistani investors. so shortage of funds is what really didn't work in favor. the quality doesn't look that great inside either. but then i guess atleast we're there.
