Hey Chad, that one is great I think! The 'cages' on top and the usual powerlines spoil the building a bit of course.

About my picture, it's actually along Th. Ratchaprarop. The building looks scray, but on second thought if they repaint it, remove the advertising and put in more modern windows it would not look bad!

some guy said that the lowrise in Thailand looked dirty and bad on the skyline forum (picture of a panorama from RCK tower)
he's right, the lowrise buildings in Thailand looks terrible, but yeah its improving slowly, anyway malaysian lowrise buildings looks about the same as Thai lowrise buildings.

i know, they should improve those low-rises. clean them up please. :) Singapore is a very good example for having clean low-rises.

Khun Jo, I guess from telephone numbers on that building ...

Well, I agree with you that if the owners and the landlords of thsoe buildings could find the way to impose the security of thsoe buildings, the cages are NOT necessary. Furthermore, I guess that thsoe buildings were builts during the 1960's and the landlords (Nai Loed Co.Ltd.) seem to focus on the rent collecting instead of dealign with aethestic issues. the leasing rqates of thsoe buildings around Pratoonam - Rajprarob are REALLY high thus those who rent the buildings have NO incentive to clease up thsoe mess ....

I think thats becouse of the size of the island is small, controlling by the governmnet on those structures seems very posssible..but for a big city like Bangkok or Tokyo, that idea is almost absolutely imposssible.

Jo
July 3rd, 2004, 02:09 AM
I agree with you Chad in that it seems very difficult to control the appearance like they do in Singapore because of the size, but also because of culture and economy for the moment.

I do think though that these lowrises have a given place in the sity, as long as they are kept nice and there is lots of commerce in these areas. Just look at those cosy small streets that are full of life in Japanese cities. Just perfect for a livable area imo :)

Chad
July 3rd, 2004, 02:13 AM
again, if u ask me.....if they'all looks nice, patterned and newly painted just like those in Singapore....it would looks too"fake", I mean...it wont longer be a community, it will be replaced by the Touriam indrustry and theme park scene...., which no tourist wants to see that.

Jo

Maybe somewhere in between Singapore and Bkk would be ideal, clean but still a little chaotic.

I went looking for images of what I mean but didn't find a really good one to illustrate.... well, maybe this gives an idea bt you know a better example would be a more 'quiet'Japanese street as not all of them can have many shops.

A condominium in Nonthaburi.
I just like its colour. And from the upper floor it must be a
great bangkok panorama with nonthaburi green, the river and Bkk highrise
skyline as a background.

No, It's actually nt the most expensive., There are many other residence projects in Bangkok with a higher price tag (Not included those U/C or currently under developing ) such as The Las Colinas, Park Suan Plu, All Season Mansion, Noble Ruam Rue dee and many more others.
