View Full Version : #Completed: North Beach (Burleigh) - 9st/res
Mr MacPhisto June 27th, 2004, 09:20 AM Ok, so it's only 8 floors and we never had a thread, but I thought this nice little recently completed tower situated behind the North Burleigh Surf Club deserved to be seen by more people.
It's indicative of several boutique towers going up around the coast.

Macca-GC August 4th, 2004, 10:40 AM Oh, that one. I love it. 9 storey. I really like the balconies with the shutters, so that it's sometimes enclosed, sometimes not. I love all the boutique towers going up between Broadbeach and Burleigh. The's one that I really like, just down the road from this one and it looks kind of similar except taller, and with a bit of yellow on the facade.
Mr MacPhisto August 4th, 2004, 02:34 PM ^You mean Indigo Blue?
Aspect on Burleigh will look great when it's finished but given the "High Noon" showdown between Mimi McPherson & Partner and the Builder, who knows when it'll be finished.
And yeah, 9 floors it (North Beach) is.
kwigibo August 5th, 2004, 12:36 AM In the same vein, here's Ultima.

CULWULLA August 5th, 2004, 12:44 AM these would get big threads if they were built in perth! hehe, but seriously yeah there great little projects and dont go unoticed.
thanx
MrTall August 5th, 2004, 09:53 AM WOW!!! How gorgeous is Ultima.!That's probably the best looking low/medium-rise apartment building I've ever seen. North beach is also great but I'm not sure I like the corner column, sort of doesn't fit in with the rest of the elevation. Still lovely though.
Thanks for the pics guys, much appreciated.
Mr MacPhisto August 11th, 2004, 12:29 PM The afternoon sun doesnt do North Beach justice in this shot. Notice the 2 level extension on the North Burleigh Surf Club in front, with 9 story Mariner Shores behind and Burleigh Surf to the left.

MrTall August 11th, 2004, 02:12 PM It looks really nifty from this angle.
What's the plan for Burleigh, anyway? Are tall towers completely out of the development picture? In a way I think it's nice to keep Burleigh small and retain it's "feel" by limiting development, however whenever I stand on the beach at Surfers and look south I think how I'd love to see a huge satellite skyline there.
Trances August 11th, 2004, 02:29 PM Lvoe the open glass rooms at the front !
Macca-GC August 11th, 2004, 03:19 PM At the moment, there is a new 15 storey height restriction. Obviously, some towers are taller than that, but they were built under the old planning scheme.
I love all the botique towers that are being built. Has anyone seen the photo of a house near Nobby's head(Where MrMacphisto took that photo from) and it looks like a castle. It's built of sandstone and looks great.
Mr MacPhisto August 13th, 2004, 09:44 AM ^Funny you mention that building mate, I think it's one of the most hated buildings on the coast.
I don't like the roofline. They should have finished it with stainless balustrading etc and forgot about the tacky half attempt at a medieval castle look.
Next time I think of it I'll take a pic and post it here. There are alot of great looking buildings on that hill.
