BUTEMBO21 June 1st, 2010, 11:22 PM Good job. I didn't have that many photos to open one for this city.
Businessmen from this area part of the city need to comeback to give the city back something.

Congolese government and peoples have a lot of work to do to develop the cities. We need patience
Pius August 6th, 2010, 10:41 PM The forgotten city. Is Mbandaka a city strictly speaking? I would rather call it a town.

You are right, although it is officially classed as a city - it qualifies more as a town than a city as almost the rest of the country. Just imagine, there are pictures of Mbandaka that i did not want to post for obvious reasons. Before we can even start competing on the international level, we need to look at the brother countries around us and see the infrastructure around their respective provinces. You will be surprised at what places like Namibia have done in their versions of Mbandaka but all that will come with peace and security(although Mobutu had peace and achieved nothing in places like Mbandaka). Zaire is also physically so large that the challenges are greater, we need to make ourselves self sufficient in small things like bridge construction. Forget Sudanese politics for a sec and check this out. 1 (http://www.skyscrapercity.com/showthread.php?t=1177729), 2 (http://www.skyscrapercity.com/showthread.php?t=1177497), 3 (http://www.skyscrapercity.com/showthread.php?t=1106959) I cannot confirm whether or not projects 1+2 are completed by Sudanese firms but project #3 is. My point is that they are taking a very sustainable development model by building up local capacity through working with foreign firms to the point where they can undertake projects like these using locally based firms. Like i said, politics aside, i like how those Arabs are moving when it comes to gaining knowledge, that is how the Chinese, Japs, even Germans became industrialised. Sudan is one of the models I would like DRC to follow in terms of building local capacity.
MBA-Congo said he will be running for governorship of Kalemie in a few years time so it will be good to see how someone from the newer generation performs.

BUTEMBO21 January 29th, 2011, 07:12 PM Congolese government and peoples have a lot of work to do to develop the cities. We need patience
Yes, the Central and provincial governments needs to do their parts first (Electricty, paved roads, bridges, Airports, ).
But there is nothing from the people either : i.e Shops, small Hotels etc...
Butembo, Goma, Mbuji-Mayi all don't have the infrastructures (except the little electricity), but there are some contributions from the people despite facts that Goma and Bukavu as surrounded hell, and Mbuji-Maji is Isolated (Although they all have minerals and Mbadaka has Wood). But Mbandaka has bicycles as means of transportation. Its like an abandoned town.
However, I sympathize with Mbandaka businessmen. How long is it going to take something from Kinshasa to get to Mbandaka? Weeks, perhaps months.
Why not just be in Kinshasa where there are some infrastructures. I wouldn't stay in Mbandaka either if i was business minded person.
Kisangani is also in the same class as Mbandaka, all business minded people go to either Kin, Goma, Bukavu or Lubumbashi where there are logistic means. Butembo, Beni who have no water or electricity are boom because they border countries with infrastructures/logistic means.
There must be a strategic plan to develop this area, otherwise it would be booming just like the other cities.
The country is massive and spercely populated, The Task to develop suffiecient infrastructures (Rail, InterState Highways, Airports electricity,) .Its the reason why i call for concentration of most population in few , but big cities (at least 3 million people/per largest regional city) and no villages anymore.
But , gents , we have work to do. first we need 3 sets of revolutions.

Malheureusement très peu encore dans le régime actuel, investissent dans leur contré!
