If you're skeptical of them, here is a good source.

There is a 20% chance that it will rain on Friday.

Don't worry Gyptian, don't be bothered at all. You know the internet has a lot of folks and people are from different backgrounds. So guys tend to have diverse opinion. Some openly express them, others take the back seat and just watch. Whatever happens just chill and understand.

=====

What about that tax? So what is your internet limit before the tax? And what's a typical internet bill like in Canada? I thought that the damn thing is getting cheaper. Here the US, it's getting less expensive and way too fast.

Jeez guys! You can look at the different weather sites too... but sometimes the SA Weather Service is not always the most reliable forecast. Do my weather with a combination of models, forecasts and other sources.

However, looking like Johannesburg is going to have some light drizzle on Thursday, but Friday will clear and be partially cloudy remaining sunny later on for the most part. However, it will be chilly up on the Highveld, with maximums only reaching 14C; minimums will luckily be mild, at around 6C. Next week, minimum temps will dip towards freezing... sunny weather will continue.

Cape Town is looking pretty cool and rainy for most of the coming week, however, Thursday and Friday may be the best days, Friday may have some heavy fog in places, else sunny with maximum temps around 19C, minimums will remain normal around 10C. Most other days are looking at scattered showers to rain with maximums around 15C. Snow will occur inland...
Later next week it should warm slightly to average maximums of 18C and less rain, probably mostly sunny for the following week.

ARGH! I melt in that.

Durban is supposed to get cloudy by evening, with scattered showers over the next couple of days and lower temps, 20C maximum, towards the weekend should clear and warm up to the mid-20C's again. Next week is looking mostly sunny, with a small chance of some mid-week showers, temps mostly hovering in the mid-20C's.

Rather there than here. I know it's different strokes for different folks, but I need my mountain snow and fire-place weather for three months. I like the fact the leaves on everything just changed bright colours (most just fell) and that when spring comes, everything comes into lime-green leaf and fruit trees are in flower everywhere. I L-O-V-E my seasons. November to April is long enough of warm weather for me... Lydon obviously agrees, whilst the Durbs boys shiver violently at the thought of temps below 22C. ;)

Word of warning... for fans visiting the Cape.

Late this week and Saturday is looking cool, but partly sunny. From Sunday and much of next week, bitterly cold weather (for the Cape anyway) is settling in from Antarctica. Lots of rain, maximums hovering around 14ºC-12ºC in the Cape Metro, to maximums of 9ºC-11ºC in the Winelands will set in. Snow is expected in the Cape interior and mountains next week.

For those who do not like the cooler weather, there is good news, late next week it's expected to clear and warm up. Looking like some stunning weather and mild temperatures from late next week into the middle of the following week. No rain is predicted for then (according to the latest models).

Cape Town is still looking good for Friday's match. Although mostly sunny, we'll likely have fog rolling in. So, even though the maximum will be 19C. Pack a jacket for later, the fog could cool things down by the opening whistle and may be down to 14C by kick-off.

^^ Johannesburg will clear by late tomorrow (from last I checked), Cape Town is looking great, but cool till Sunday... then all hell breaks loose. It will be the first major test of the BBC studios and of the 95% roof covering of the seats at CTS (the main reason why Cape Town's venue is so well protected:

A massive Antarctic storm will hit late Sunday, intensifying over Monday night. The Italy/Paraguay game will be utterly bitter-cold. The winds will be gale force westerly, sea-wave heights may reach 8m. The Cape interior is supposed to expect heavy snowfalls: Worcester, Paarl (upper levels) Ceres, De Doorns, Excelsior are expecting snow overnight Monday towards Tuesday morning. Snow levels will creep down to 1000m, the mountains of the Cape should be white come Wednesday! Do not expect maximums over 13C in Cape Town and 10C in the Winelands' valley floors.

Will look gorgeous afterwards, but hold on to your hats in the Cape next week. Fans will see snow in Africa...HEHE!

Still monitoring the models, however it is looking like there's a chance of snow on Table Mountain overnight on Monday (Italy/Paraguay game night). Dress damn warm!!! Will keep you posted. Interior Winelands areas will be bitterly cold, heavy snowfalls expected on higher ground. Freezing levels are currently predicted down to 800m (current models), with potential for flurries on the ground in De Doorns, Ceres, Worcester. Snow widespread on the ground in the Karoo. Heavy rain across the Western Cape beginning of next week in other "non-snow" areas. Winds will generally be gale force north-westerly along the coast and exposed interior.

A severe Antarctic Front will make landfall in the Cape early on Monday, bring extremely cold temperatures and heavy rain to all southern portions of South Africa from the Western to Eastern Cape provinces. The highveld will get bitterly cold, with minimums in Bloemfontein and Johannesburg plummeting towards -4ºC. However, the Highveld will remain clear. Maximums in most Highveld and southern coastal cities will remain around 10ºC and colder.

The Western, Northern and Eastern Cape provinces can expect rain (heavy rain from Cape Town to the Garden Route) in low altitude areas, with significant snow in the Karoo and Western Cape interior and coastal ranges and light snow from Namaqualand, Bo-Karoo and interior Eastern Cape.

Mountain passes are likely to close, keep listening to updates. The following towns will be affected by snowfall: Springbok, Kammieskroon, Garies, Calvinia, Sutherland, Fraserburg, De Aar, Victoria West, Cradock, Murraysburg, Molteno, Burgersdorp, Ceres, De Doorns, Excelsior, Touws River, Laingsburg.

Snow levels will dip to 700m in the interior Western Cape, 1300m in the Eastern Cape. It will likely snow on Table Mountain, will keep updating as model forecasts come in.

Later in the week, it will clear and warm up again.

Weather is clearing from the west in southern South Africa. Rain has begun abating from Cape Town to Port Elizabeth. Temperatures remain a little chilly, as snow blankets most of the southern high-ground. Temperatures will recover in the south as the week progresses. Algeria vs. England in Cape Town looks good on Friday, with mild temperatures and sunny conditions, cooling as the sun sets.

The interior will remain bitterly cold, with minimum temperatures plummeting to -5C in many places. It will remain clear. Temperatures will recover towards the weekend. Durban is cooler today and showery, but should warm and clear towards the end of the week.

The next Antarctic front will arrive in the Cape towards Sunday/Monday. It is less powerful than the previous storm that impacted South Africa.

HIGHS AND LOWS
Posted by STAFF REPORTER on June 18, 2010

World Cup Temperatures bite

The 2010 FIFA World Cup kicked off last week and like the play, the weather too has had its highs and lows. The soccer spectacular began at Soccer City in pleasantly warm conditions recorded at 18°C, but by Bafana Bafana’s second game on Wednesday in Pretoria, the night temperature had dropped to a fridge like 0°C.

Although not as cold as freezing European and North American winters, temperatures in South Africa will be low enough to burst overseas fan’s expectations of a sunny and tropically hot Africa whatever the season.

The average summer highs of plus 30 degrees have been replaced with single digit lows, and in some cases temperatures have plummeted to below freezing, where short sleeved soccer tops have not be enough to keep out the evening chill.

Bloemfontein is probably the chilliest place to watch a game. Fans heading to this Free State city are cautioned to prepare for lows of up to -6°C, which is maybe why only one of the six group matches to be played there has been scheduled for a 20:30 kick-off.
FIFA.com says an average low of -2°C is expected from a day time high of 17 °C, but things might get colder if lows predicted by the South African Weather Service (SAWS) continue. If the night game on 25th June does record sub zero temperatures, the Swiss from the snowy slopes of The Alps will be better equipped than their South American opponents to cope with the cold. Honduras is hot and humid almost year-round, and with the average high temperature nationwide of 32°C and the average low of 20°C, few will have thought about thermal underwear.

In addition to their winter lows, Cape Town and Port Elizabeth are experiencing rainy days, which will add more weather misery to both fans and players. Monday night’s game between Italy and Paraguay at Cape Town’s magnificent Green Point Stadium was played in torrential rain, with the occasional hailstorm thrown in for good measure.
The 62,869 who attended the game will have been thankful for the 16mm thick panels of glass in the roof, designed to cover and protect fans from strong winds and rains, but many still got soaking wet. And with a weather forecast of very cold with snowfalls and black frost predicted for the Western and Eastern Cape, fans can expect worse to come.
Temperatures for the England v Algeria game in Cape Town on Friday are expected to hover around the 8°C mark, which is warm compared to their match in Rustenburg which barely rose above freezing. Still the first winter World Cup in over 30 years should suit the English, who are used to playing their football in the cold and rain. Back in the Algerian capital of Algiers, it is currently a warm and sunny 25°C.

The cold weather seems also to have taken some of the merchandisers by surprise. At the USA v England game in Rustenburg there were several ice cream stalls, but few brave enough to partake of the frozen varieties on offer, despite the Americans legendary love of the food.

Polokwane, in the Limpopo Provence, will host four games under its mostly clear afternoon skies and starry night. Last week Fifa.com predicted that all will be warm and sunny with lows of 4 °C and maximums of 20°C. They may have got the sunny bit right, but the fans that visited from Botswana might have been surprised to find that temperatures had dropped to -1°C.

Nelspruit in Mpumalanga has also been unusually cold, but fans who turn up to watch the evening clash between Australia and Serbia on June 23 can expect a minimum of around 5°C. This will be cool even for the Serbians who have come from summer highs in Belgrade of 27°C and the Australians whose current winter months are variable depending on location, but will have left behind average lows of 10-15°C in Sydney
In its advertising campaign, Durban boasts of being the warmest place to watch the World Cup, and the popular sea side resort enjoys average temperatures of around 16-25 °C all year round. The city’s warmth is reflected in the current maximum of 23°C, which will fall to a low of 11°C. That will be much more to the liking of the samba boys of Brazil who play their third game against Portugal at the venue on June 25 in a 4pm kick off.
The Brazilians took time to warm up in their first game in Johannesburg’s Ellis Park on Tuesday in freezing conditions, where five of the boys in yellow had to wear gloves to keep out the cold. They will have another night in the cold gold city on Sunday when they play the Ivory Coast, who will also not be amused by the wintery conditions, before they can thaw out in Durban.

They can look forward to much warmer conditions four years from now with the next World Cup being held in their own backyard. On the day that the tournament kicked off in Johannesburg, temperatures back home in Rio were recorded as a high of 25°C, only descending to a low of 12°C.

Perhaps the warmest and safest place to watch the late night action is on TV, tucked up in bed with a warming cup of tea at the ready.

The wind is unusually warm and brisk out of the northwest... only means one thing in the Cape... Cold Front!

Looking at the current 15:00SAST image, there's quite a decent sized Antarctic storm 1000km west of Cape Town. Looking like tomorrow is going to be a bit groggy again. Seems like it should be around 9ºC at kick-off, probably some scattered showers, but not as bad as the Italy-Paraguay game. Snow levels look higher this time, less cold, less snow... but still not awesome weather.

Meanwhile, spectators attending the game should dress warmly because it is going to be chilly.

The Cape Town Weather Office predicts the temperature could drop well below 10 degrees after the first whistle. However, the 60 percent chance of rain in the forecast is expected to clear up by late in the afternoon.

“It may be a little bit chilly outside. Temperatures will drop in the evening so wrap up and keep warm but you are unlikely to get wet,” said meteorologist Keith Moir.
