The Oriental Pearl Tower used to dominate the skyline, yet now it is not so big after all.

A lot of Shanghai's historic residences are well maintained. This one is in the French concession.

I'm not too willing to fork out a small fortune to live in the hotel at the top of this tower. I paid a fraction for a room with the Pudong view on the other side of the river ... ha!

Shanghai's Art Deco on one side ...

The modern city on the other ...

The aliens have landed, and brought their own skyscraper as well.

The first surprise was the lack of smog. I was a few blocks from these skyscrapers yet I could see clearly beyond.

I took quite a long time admiring the amazing model of Shanghai's urban mass. This was my second visit to the model.

Looks like they like using bamboo as a construction material as well.

SWFC is a fairly plain skyscraper with an elegant setback.

http://www.globalphotos.org/shanghai/20091226/IMG_6295.jpg

Unlike Jin Mao, SWFC is not a symmetric building, so it looks a bit different on each side.

The invasion of English (and the complete lack of Chinese) 60 bloody years after liberation seriously pisses me off.
