Plaza Athenee. The only 5-star Thai Hotel located in the middle of new york city. It is recognized as "One of Top Three Hotels in New York City" by the most respected travel magazine, Conde Nast Traveler. The hotel's luxurious restaurants have become a place where New York elites and celebrities hang out.

This hotel is owned by one of Thailand's richest man, Charoen Sirivadhanabhakdi, with estimated personal wealth of more than USD 3 billion. Strangely, he's never been listed in the Forbes's world richest people while three other Thai billionaires (whose wealths are less than Charoen) were listed in the magazine. Charoen's hotel arm, Imperial Hotel group, bought this hotel for USD 70 million in 1998 but it is now worth more than USD 150 million.
Charoen Sirivadhanabhakdi is no stranger in global business buyout. One of Charoen's overseas investment portfolio also include USD 110 million buyout of Scotland's 2nd largest Whiskey distiller, Inverhouse, with famous brands such as MacArthurs. http://www.inverhouse.com/
Unsurprisingly, when Thai prime minister, Thaksin Shinawatra, is looking for a partner for overseas soccer team investment, Charoen Sirivadhanabhakdi is one of main contender who will buy Liverpool soccer team.
Noticed a Thai flag in front of the hotel.
