The fact is boarding went up months ago and yet no signage of details of the building. Butthis is very good site and area in TRADE CENTER 2. So there is sure to be a land makr tower here. So start the thread details later. Below is the construction as of this week.

Thanks for all these updates Altin. Are they testing the foundation with these concrete blocks? I've seen it on serveral sites in Dubai, but never seen it here in Holland.

these are fun blocks, used to entertain the workers, they build fun shaped things with them untill they are told they can start work on the tower!

seriously though, i have seen them a lot in dubai, maybe they put them around the edge of the foundation???

They are used to test the laoding on the first pile which is the test pile. there is a device that measures lateral forces as well as the point loading . Soil cant be too go there and the geotech report obviously wasent conclusive as the pile size and depth

Cant see this as anything other than a tower. Hole is not very wide, though they never are on SZR.

The render is up on the board out in the front!!! It reminded me of Marina Crown for some reason, although I didnt see it properly as by the time I passed by it was too late to take a picture, and I had a camera in my hand!!! :doh:

I have seen the board but been busy so no possibility to take picture of the board.

The tower is TALL, it might be even 250+. The design is nothing special but reminds me of that Tower that was suposed to be the Marina's tallest and now is being build in Sharjah and the crown is almost isdentical to that of 23 Marina. The tower is yellow - brownish cladding, no glass facade.

The developer and the architect/consultants (Canadian Consultant) are the same as those on that curly 46 storeys twin on The Towers. Board, as in that case, is in Arabic.

It's not listed with 285m, it's just an estimate (by me) which normally can't be seen by people who are not editors. So I guess, you are judging the height by its placement in the diagram...right? :)

285 feels about right for this tower 70 x 3.5m floors = 245 plus as bit for a spire and a large ground floor

dont count on it, Dubai has become persons non grada amongst the SSP illistrators even though we have loads of 300m plus towers to draw, they are more intrested in the 100 th version of a 30F NY tower

from what I could tell this afternoon, the building seems to be a sort of light yellow instead of the bright gold of the tower in the pics below.

guess you are right about the height factor as well.... we have become far too accustomed to tall buildings and no longer really appreciate how tall some of these things really are!

I have seen 8 skyscrapers,around 5 towers under construction, 2 TV Towers and one Landmark with more than 300m and í was every time again impressed by them.

yeh, now Dubai is having more likely over 10 buildings that taller than Thailand's tallest building already :dizzy:

The article, posted by smussuw, spoke about a residential tower with 1, 2 & 3 bedroom apartment, while, according to the architect website, Al Attar is a hotel. (see reeply 128 above)

Dubai Municipality has recently issued the license to construct a 70-story tower in the Trade Centre 2 Area at a cost of Dhs200 million. Engineer Khalid Mohammed Saleh, Director of the Building Department of the Municipality, said the proposed tower would consist of residential apartments and commercial shops.

The building will have two basement, ground floor, two mezzanine floors, three service floors, and 70 upper stories, in addition to a health club. The total built-up area will be more than 511,000 square feet while the plot area is over 10,000 square feet. Mr. Saleh added that the tower would have a total of 560 apartments, of which 280 are one-bedroom apartments, 40 two-bedroom apartments and 240 studio apartments. The total area of shops will be 13,000 square feet. The parking lot can accommodate 605 cars. There will be a health club with the total space being 603 square feet.

Well look at it this way... this 76 storey tower is going to cost AED 200 million and the 60 storey Big Ben Tower will cost $61 Million = AED 223 Million, so the Big Ben Tower might not be built in true Sharjah style afterall. :)

the only thing which is suspicious is the use of the tower, but if i remember right there as an article for tha actual al attar tower claiming it is mixed use which would explain everything.

too cheap for a 70 f tower.my tower is closer to $500mil for a 75 F tower (ok includes a resort styled hotel ) but never the less 200mil AED is far to cheep considering The Tower by Union Proiperies cost 400 mil AED

Definitelly 200mil AED is cheap, unless that is just the cost of the main structure construction contract.

BTW, The Tower was build by Multiplex, therefore it has to be more expensive then if (let say) build by a shaddy Sharjah based company.

^^ I doubt that becouse Rose Rotana hase a metal structure, while this one is solid concrete.

They have a self climbing slipform for the core, so we can expect a 1 floor/week progress.

They have left blanc the number of floors of the tower, maybe the redesign included a floor number increase as well. New info is that the parking at the back will have 12 levels.

Yes, the floorplan seams to be identical to Rose Rotana.

BTW Al Fara'a are the main contractor and not the architect. ;)

The core it seams is rising at the rate 1Fl/week, but the rest of the tower may be slower becouse of the concrete struture.

However other concrete towers have risen at the same rate as well, like Bright Start or even Park Place despite the huge floor plate.

Finally rising, AARAAT, Rose rotana and 21st century tower almost in a row ^^.

Growing slow, but better than not growing at all...:D

I think the slowing down has to do with the implementation of the building technique for the regular floors and pillars. I have never seen such technique in Dubai.

Give them a couple of more floors and it will regain the speed of 1Floor/week.

it looks like they are using small slipforms for all the pillars...

The jumpform of the floor plate has jumped one floor up, but the core is stuck there.

yeah now that is the speed i want, it seems like those multiple jumpforms will really make it fast even though it is all concrete.

And is it just me or do the floors appear to be quite tall?

holy crap that's fast! And will be another ultra-thin tower. I guess thin towers will be a defining feature of this skyline in the years to come
