i always ask myself what is still to come in Dubai! after so many spectacular projects have been launched in such a short time and as hh sheikh mohammed said that only 10 % of his visions have been realized by now, i try to imagine what new visions he has on his mind!

what do you guys think? what is still missing in dubai?

i would say. UAE citzens being more than 50%... we could work in this project

yes definitely. i would say this is very important. dubais roots and history have to be protected and the best measure would be to raise the number of native UAE citizens.

but it will be very difficult to do it.

dubai could invest into a total new airport, far away from the city.
i have a book, in which this project is mentioned.
there it says, that this new airport will be build next to jebel ali in year 2010.
but if it will be built, is not sure.

that airport is still in a secondary stage!!

But if they build that its could very well be the worlds largest!!
I dont think it will be done in the near future until the demand becomes so high!!
I would want to give up the current one with such a massive and exhuberant expansion!!

things that may come Hmmmm lets see :-

1- Hotel built under the Dubai creek
2- a 300 meter observation deck with a revolving restaurant in the middle of the city
3-an underground air conditioned market
4-an opera house built in the middle of the creeek facing the Dubai festival city

ok. i've started this thread, now i should also make a proposal. there are plans for a metro in the dubai city area.

why don't they build a fast train network from sharjah via dubai to abu dhabi?
this train should go at speed of about 300km/h (200mph).

or as they build the metro, which i think is a magnetic train, they could extend this network to sharjah and abu dhabi.

in my country germany, scientists have developed a very fast magnetic train that can go at a speed of more than 450km/h (300mph).

our country can't afford to build it (well at least we developed it) so we sold it to shanghai, china.

the advantage would be that people can get from abu dhabi to sharjah in a very short time. you won't have to drive at 120 on highways.

if you come from abu dhabi and would like to go to emirates towers you would leave the fast train at port jebel ali, where the last station of the metro will be. you change trains, take the normal metro and you can take the exit you want to (there will be many on the way from jebel ali to dubai old town).

i heard abu dhabi had some sort of plan like that to link up the emirates!!

i would love to see this train here although i dont think that it would happen soon u know each governemnt Dubai, AbuDhabi, sharjah and other work on its own and the i dont think that the federal governemnt have the money to build or buy such train. Each governemnt will be supposed to pay for it so it wont happen soon.

what is still missing is a huge museum, doesn't matter what kind of museum. but i'm thinking about something world-famous.

for example a national history museum. (just like in the united states, they are very famous there) or any kind of science museums.

by the way: science.

a space center would be great. not like cap caneveral in florida, but a science center or science city where some well-known scientists can do their job!

Dubai land is going to have a lot of museums!!!! :)

Yep train and better transport is needed and maybe tunnels under the creek !

I know of one coming up that will equal as the palm and burj Al Arab hotels. Sorry I can give any details yet have to wait tillit goes public but i will spill my beans then. The Hotel will be very tall ( not tallest in world but will be close) and unlike other building in Dubai will not be super slender. More details soon !

Maybe ideas to keep more people there in the summer ... shaded beaches, enclosed and air-conditioned sidewalks?

i would also consider a movie a good marketing for dubai. just put a good story and some famous actors there and let them do what they normally do.

and dubai land is supposed to have a FILM CITY, so they have the best conditions to make a real blockbuster movie.

i'm sure such a movie can boost dubais tourism and recognition!

Well i know of more than one Idian movie made here in Dubai , but coz i dont watch indian movies i didnt get the chance to see Dubai in them

it is said there is an area in india called Dubai :) they named it after the city of Dubai coz they love it here so much !! :P

As to what Dubai will build next... hmmm... how about the tallest car park building in the world?

Well just a few smallers public galleryies would be good I guess

There is, of course, the courtyard in al quoze and fivegreen and majlis in the Bastikya area. Although Five Green seems to have a Lomography exhibition on at the moment. When I did some research as to what Lomography was I found it is the practise of takig photos without looking through the viewfinder so the pics are not framed and ofgten out of focus. I could probably start my own art gallery if that is considered art!

Dubai needs a city in the sky, enclosed by a protective 'bubble' of glass. Think of it as a lollipop standing upright. Crazy idea, but don't pretend you can't call half of the developments going on exactly that!

a nimbus land doesn't have to be flying, just needs to have some sort of exquisite "dream" look like have a city of spiral buildings that are light green and blue and white

Well, that should happen in the not too distant future buddy. I've heard of at least 2 separate plans for major film production studios in the city of Dubai, both from Hollywood majors. One of them entails the construction of a US$500 million studio called "MIRAGE", set on some 170 acres of land, although i'm not sure of the location. I cannot find the original yahoo news link, but press here (http://www.entertainment-news.org/breaking/2457/dubai-mirage-a-reality.html) for an alternate link. Also heard of another Hollywood film production facility thats in the cards for dubai, but cant seem to find the link for it. Looks like we are going to see those SZR car chases after all !! :cheers:
