I'm a new player on sim city 4. is it possible for me to build a very successful city without having any industrial zones. One more thing, what benifeits do landmarks give me?

yes it is possible... but your city should be adjacent to a city with industrial areas.. because the citizens of that city will ask for industry.... that adjacent city should be able to supply that need...

landmarks sort of add attraction to your city... its like parks...

As i used to play SC3000 so from my experience when the city reaches some development level it simply starts not to require industry. then it needs just commercial and residential zones. it is something like in our world, when country develops (postindustrial society) it does not need so many industry. However i doubt that without industry the city might survive. this is just for SC3000 but i hope it works on SC4 :)

In fact it is possible in SC3000 to eliminate all industrial... I did it in one of my cities at 200 000 people... although i had to replace all industrial subdivisions with commercial ones.

Yes, it I do think it is, well i've done it before. But, industrial does help though.

Landmarks can make more people come.

Yes it's possible for you to build a sucessful city or region without any industrial zones. I start out with some industrial within my city, then after a few years change it all to residential & commercial only. I have 7.2 million in my region right now, and I only have one small city with industrial.

As for landmarks, yeah they are really only like parks, but make your city a little distinct.
