desiguy66 July 1st, 2010, 02:44 PM Very nice....why not move this to the general photography section in main SSC forum? India will get more coverage!
Jodhpur2 July 1st, 2010, 02:52 PM I was thinking about it... but I want to post in both sections ( here and the general photography) but then I thought it would be time consuming to post one thing twice... unless there is a quicker way to do it.
Jodhpur2 July 1st, 2010, 04:02 PM Alright I just made the the thread in the general photography section.

Yes, The Jodhpur royals were into art deco. One of the finest examples of art deco is the Ummaid Bhawan Palace. A lot of their palaces are built in the art deco style.Ummaid Bhawan,Saradar samand being the prominent ones.

SSCaddict September 2nd, 2010, 07:30 PM wow!! there is so much scope for tourism here but no one to promote :ohno:
ashwa September 2nd, 2010, 08:24 PM LOL no one to promote? Rajasthan is the leading state in tourism. Every third foreign tourist visiting India travel to Rajasthan.
SSCaddict September 2nd, 2010, 08:26 PM LOL no one to promote? Rajasthan is the leading state in tourism. Every third foreign tourist visiting India travel to Rajasthan.
have you seen the promotion done by modi have a look at gujarat projects thread!! i never heard about such projects in Rajasthan!!
ashwa September 2nd, 2010, 08:34 PM That's because Gujrat is stepping into the tourism market. Rajasthan already is a well established tourist destination. Every month there are hundreds of articles written by journalists about rajasthan. It is a popular destination for filming I mean even I have seen several shows here in britain which have done their shooting in rajasthan. Recently the most popular soap opera in Brazil was based in Jaipur. It is also a wedding hot spot. Prime example being Liz Hurley and Arun Nair's Wedding, Raveen Tandon's wedding etc. The palace on wheels get booked for the whole of the season very quickly. The extent is so much the an article by lonely planet changed an omelette walah's life! Also if you see the incredible india adverts most of the locations are from Rajasthan.

when did i say that it is not the most favourite tourist destination... i mean see the potential is big, see dubai is having 8 million tourists and whole of india only 5 million it is a big shame there must be someone to PROMOTE leave the palace of wheels have you ever heard of any major step taken by govt to promote the tourism here ...
ashwa September 2nd, 2010, 08:52 PM ^^
Restoring forts, palaces and heritage structures. Coming up with different ideas to make the locations more interesting such as: Light and sound shows. Promoting Rajasthan destinations in events like the common wealth games. Organising things like the desert festival and numerous other festivals with different themes in different cities. Promoting new destinations and new ideas of tourism such as eco and rural tourism. All these pictures you see where the forts and palaces are in a good conditon compared to the rest of india a lot of them are owned and maintained by the govt. The govt also sends folk artists etc to participate abroad in events promoting rajasthan. The RTDC ( rajasthan tourism development corporation also organises a lot of things..
just a note: because you don't see much news about all this on the ssc that doesn't mean it does not happen.

There is a thread in the international section. You need to look more carefully. It's in the general photography section. There is also a thread on the Jaipur cityscapes in the international cityscapes section. :)

rajasthan has a culture of bawaris to store water. in my native village too we have a very old bawari which is 6 stories deep. it stays dry all year but for few months it fills up in days.
