Yesterday afternoon I left work early to see the F1 cars running down Regent Street. It was a madhouse, there were thousands upon thousands of people there to see them and I was lucky to see anything at all. It was meant to start at 6pm, but due to delays didn't get going until about 7.15pm, luckily I found a nearby pub with my mates. It was that crowded pubs were closing their doors and not letting people in.

The BBC are reporting 500,000 people were there, and having been amongst it, I'm not surprised.

I saw a little bit of this on the news. Aren't they trying to get another race up in the streets of London to rival Monaco? Or was this purely promotion for the Silverstone GP?

Well, the news said that Silverstone needed a range of upgrades that if not done, could see the race moved to London instead.

There has been a little bit of talk about having a London race, but I can't see it ever happening. Check the BBC for a story about it,

Wow, that looks awesome. The drivers obviously weren't going too fast given the lack of protection for the crowd.

Did Sato make it round the circuit without blowing his engine again?

They were limited to 75 mph.

It was all a bit of a screw up really, it was meant to go for 2 hours between 6pm and 8pm, but all we got was about 25 minutes due to the over crowding. I only saw DC in a McLaren for about 10 seconds, and I had to climb up a shop window to see over the crowd for that.

It does make some great images though.

Just by looking at the pics, would the streets be wide enough?
