wino July 4th, 2010, 08:28 PM I like GT TOWER the most..
mainly because, I'm a sucker for SHINY tall GLASS buildings and it is the most modern-looking of all.
sutee July 5th, 2010, 03:05 AM hey dont forget the tallest building in vietnam!!!
haikiller11 July 5th, 2010, 09:23 PM Hey how abt these two in Saigon?

icracked July 6th, 2010, 12:10 AM Singapore's marina bay looks very futuristic and I like it a lot. Though I wish it could have been a little taller. Vietnam's new supertall (don't know its name) is the one skyscraper in ASEAN I'm waiting to see to be complete. I do hope the other ASEAN country get their first supertall as Malaysia and Vietnam cities does.
patchay July 6th, 2010, 03:22 AM Interestingly, KL currently has 2 to 4 supertalls on the drawing board. About 2 of them are expected to be taller than PTT.
I do like all the buildings below, except for wisma 46 which I think is quite a normal building. PTT, Sands, The Sail, Bakrie, The Met and GT have set new standards for skyscrapers in ASEAN. Congrats!

good to know there're more supertalls coming up in KL. Can i see the renderings.
DoublEight July 6th, 2010, 06:18 AM I vote for Wisma 46.
The building is quite uniqe and one of Jakarta's landmark
Other buildings such as Twin Tower, Bay Sands, The Sail, Bakrie Tower, The Met & GT Int also exciting,.
greenice July 6th, 2010, 10:10 AM i like GT tower

patchay July 6th, 2010, 11:14 AM to be fair, i think the poll needs to include the one in Saigon.......... dat building is awesome..........
SingaporeCity July 6th, 2010, 12:08 PM Yes I think there are nicer skyscrapers than some that are in the poll. However maybe because the skyscraper in Saigon isn't completed yet. Some completed skyscrapers that I think are worth mentioning and considering are listed below.
1) Empire Tower, Bangkok
2) One Raffles Quay, Singapore
3) PBCom Tower, Manila
4) Republic Plaza, Singapore
5) Menara Telekom, KL
6) The Troika, KL
7) The Orchard Residences, Singapore
and many more, just too hard to choose!
SingaporeCity July 6th, 2010, 12:16 PM :) How about this one, Reflections at Keppel Bay (by Daniel Libeskind). It's been under construction for a long time though. And not much interest from the public as it is not selling well. Nevertheless, still one of my favourites.

D3Y July 6th, 2010, 01:39 PM bakrie towers,
circular-shaped and scaly like a giant cobra ready to swallow...wheww
wino July 6th, 2010, 03:50 PM GT Tower is the most photogenic. :D
Erran July 7th, 2010, 04:39 AM Bakrie tower is the most eye-catching among those buildings.
Petronas is the tallest and of course the most popular - but that's it. I don't find it outstanding.
Marina is the newest, unique, but personally, it's not my type of beauty.
GT, The Met, Wisma 46 - usual n common buildings.
Reflection (Singapore) and Regatta (Jakarta) will be the future stunners when completed. Both r futuristic and beautiful.
patchay July 7th, 2010, 05:27 AM I believe Petronas was superbly outstanding 10 years ago, maybe less today due to newer skyscrapers like Sands and Bakrie.
Still, it remained a world-class icon and a corporate icon around the world. From advertisements to print media. The frontpage of the upcoming 18th World Congress of Accountants 2010 featured the Twin Towers again.
http://www.wcoa2010kualalumpur.com/images/new.jpg
SingaporeCity July 7th, 2010, 06:26 AM It is still outstanding :) and is very impressive that even after 12 years, it is still an icon in South East Asia. But of course newer additions are just getting as great too. Too bad we have height limits here in SG, if not I believe the newer buildings would have been taller. Sands is a very good example how short buildings can look just as great. I believe in 10 years time, we'll have a new generation of super nice buildings.
patchay July 7th, 2010, 09:56 AM good to know there're more supertalls coming up in KL. Can i see the renderings.

SingaporeCity July 12th, 2010, 08:27 AM i think we need a new poll ..can someone suggest and list 10 beautiful building in asia
Haha, I can't decide too, but IMO petronas twin tower, marina bay sands, the sail, bakrie tower and gt international tower are the confirmed 5 in the list.
Actually i would suggest putting the poll in another sub forum like architecture. There are many similar polls from different parts of the world in the forum. http://www.skyscrapercity.com/forumdisplay.php?f=4
1) Traffic might be higher, non Asean citizens will vote too. As you can see, from the replies here, most are from our fellow Asean mates.
2) Unfair result as most of us here will tend to vote for a skyscraper from our city. So it doesn't show which skyscraper is more well liked by all.
3) Global audience so people will know there are many good quality skyscrapers up to international standard from Asean. More exposure of skyscrapers from Asean. Example Marina Bay Sands cost USD 5.7 Billion to build, almost 4 times more costly than the world tallest skyscraper Burj Khalifa at USD 1.5 Billion. But not many people know it exists.
Just my 2 cents suggestion. =)
guy4versa4 July 13th, 2010, 08:15 AM ok,i will...thanks for suggestion..:okay:
SingaporeCity July 13th, 2010, 08:34 AM Actually I'm not too sure whether there will be higher viewership/traffic at that forum. I wouldn't want to see a thread not visited by many and become dead eventually. Maybe we can get opinions from our fellow Asean mates before really posting, also to see what skyscrapers they would suggest to add if you really intend to create a new poll :) However choosing the remaining the skyscrapers will be difficult as there are many great skyscrapers. Hard to decide!
