I have made a city as part of fariview. but i have expanded it all i can right to the edges and have a population of 20,000. I want to be able to make the city even bigger how do i do this, and when do you get all the cool skyscrapers:-)

I dont understand how people have 300,000 people in their citys, when i have used every little bit of space and only got 20k. Do i expand by building a new city next to my old on on the map?

cheers guys

What size map is this city on? (small, medium, large)

Time to expand upwards. Zone for high density residential. Make sure you spaced your commercial zones to be a low commute time to your residential zones. Also be sure to have a sufficient road structure. (avenues, LOTS of mass transit, and highways, etc). Getting the skyscrapers takes a bit of time, as they come with high demand and a population of 30-40+ min. Make sure you have zones that are 4x4 or bigger to allow for the skyscrapers.

I assume u have put your residential, industry, and commercial all in the one city. You might need to build a connecting city with a lot of industry to lower the demand, then start rezoning the industry in your main city with commercial or residential. The bigger your city gets, the easier it is the grow fast. For example, starting a new city connected to a 300,000 ppl city will bring lots of people and big buildings almost immediatly.
