Wu-Gambino September 9th, 2004, 03:14 AM What's the tallest building in that district?
RafflesCity September 9th, 2004, 03:46 PM Its United Square, an office building.
It can be seen as the tallest in the middle of this pano.

huaiwei November 4th, 2004, 06:14 AM United and Novena really look like twin developments over there....
RafflesCity November 4th, 2004, 06:25 AM indeed. In fact United Square used to stick out from the other 2 with its brown glass, now it looks more 'in harmony'
RafflesCity November 10th, 2004, 12:31 PM The recent condo boom alomg Newton...

RafflesCity November 10th, 2004, 08:22 PM well Singapore developers are big in Shanghai!

ahlipp February 1st, 2005, 04:09 AM nice thing abt the Newton/Novena area is the greenary around it.
Looks like a couple of u/c projects are nearing the final stages, i tink the skyline by year end would again look different when the facade are done up :okay: keep it rolling...
redstone February 1st, 2005, 03:57 PM Yup, wait till Suites rise!
RC, can a pano be achieved from where you took that shhot?
RafflesCity February 2nd, 2005, 03:18 AM thanks lipp :)
@redstone, unfortunately not as i took it from a point block
just wait till Strata rises, it will look very slim
also I'm waiting for the Park Infinia @ Wee Nam, 5 blocks of 30-storeys!
redstone February 2nd, 2005, 03:19 AM Any renderings?
RC, I took my Novena pano from a point block, too. Panos CAN be made.
Stand against one wall and take when it is 'out of view' when standing in the centre la! :D
RafflesCity April 29th, 2005, 03:55 AM In the 70s, Goldhill Plaza & Hotel Royal was the only tall building in the area:
http://picas.nhb.gov.sg/data/tn_pcd/19980007449-8263-3201-0180/img0027.jpg
Today: Goldhill Plaza is blocked from view but you can still see Hotel Royal.

heirloom April 30th, 2005, 07:43 AM eeeh look at that ugly condo below the light@cairnhill. it's that one built by li ka shing right? can't believe its priced like the light@cairnhill but is so ugly.
Worlds of Earth April 30th, 2005, 11:44 AM What really impedes Novena's potential is the sheer number of disgusting buildings with horrendous colour schemes that pop out everywhere, in the most glaringly obvious fashions. That, and the lack of something truly tall (or dominating) enough to define the Novena skyline.

yes...with developers now wanting to build to the max of 30+ storeys, it is developing a plateau skyline. But, from some angles, you can still see the layers of variety that all gd skylines should possess.

Is it called Cairnhill Crest? I agree that for such an exclusive project, the design is very very....pedestrian.

heirloom May 2nd, 2005, 01:00 PM yes. like hdb
Worlds of Earth May 2nd, 2005, 03:12 PM At least its pleasant, unlike HDBs with horrible architecture and garish colour schemes which turn the stomach.
heirloom May 2nd, 2005, 05:09 PM uh no lor. some seng kang flats got nicer colour scheme than this. the yellow is too pale for the grey - in any case it doesnt make for a classy combination. furthermore at this price it should be FAR more than pleasant.
Worlds of Earth May 3rd, 2005, 01:03 PM Sengkang against flats in Bukit Merah, Eunos, Jurong East, the older ones in Toa Payoh, Boon Lay, Lakeside... three quarters of the flats in Singapore are worth a garotted architect.
But of course if we count the supposed scale of this project the design should have been better.
Christerdom May 3rd, 2005, 02:54 PM Never too late to post this, abit blur :)

RafflesCity May 5th, 2005, 06:34 AM Hi Christerdom!
I like that first pic..so green and blue and very nice with the evening lights.
Thanks for sharing :)
huaiwei May 5th, 2005, 11:38 AM Welcome Christerdom! Where you took the photos from?
Bahraini Spirit May 5th, 2005, 06:46 PM Cool, to be honest, it's actually better than many cities' skyline, even some of the big ones.
ZZOOzzoo October 6th, 2005, 03:26 AM uh no lor. some seng kang flats got nicer colour scheme than this. the yellow is too pale for the grey - in any case it doesnt make for a classy combination. furthermore at this price it should be FAR more than pleasant.
Recently I found out that the building has been entirely re-painted to white color. I guess the developers realized that too.
Now that it's white, it has somewhat Grange Residence feel into it...
