our list contains about 160 towers under construction and approved. i didn't count the small ones with 10 floors or lower. there are some towers of which we neither have a name, not a render. i guess there are 170 uc and approved right now!

Dubai-Lover

some members asked me to delete sheikh essa and karbash tower out of the list! won't do it here, but i've created a new list for towers UC & APPROVED ONLY!!!!!!
in the tower development sub-forum!
this list will be updated all the time! when a new tower is unveiled i'll add it! when a tower is completed i'll delete it! you can consider this as a "CONSTRUCTION-LIVE LIST"!!!!

do you really need to use so much exclamation marks? are you shouting? :D :D

but is this really needed?
you have now twice as much work to do, and only difference is 2buildings :|
and this list is not then accurate because those towers are not u/c anymore, you could just make "completed recently" section to this same thread and add those 2buildings there :|

concerning excalmation marks i have to say i realized it myself. thought about it and try to minimize it! ;)

concerning this thread. for some people with normal internet connection it takes minutes to load the first page with all pics of towers and with all the posts in here even longer (know this from our internet connection in office!! so bad!!).

this thread will contain every new tower (finished, uc, approved, proposed) while the new one will only show the ones uc and approved
closed the new one that only pics can be added, no posts to avoid long loading times

concerning your proposed sub-forum "completed recently" i can say trances and i talked about it and agreed to open it when more towers will be finished. doesn't pay off right now, but i think in november. atm it's only the gate, sheikh essa and karbash.

Nakheel launches 'Nakheel Falcon Tower' at Jumeirah Lake Towers
Nakheel, the Middle East region's premiere property developer has announced the launch of 'Nakheel Falcon Tower', an exclusive high-rise residential waterfront development at Jumeirah Lake Towers.

The Nakheel Falcon Tower's one, two and three bedroom apartments totalling 208 units will go on sale from tomorrow.

The 40-storey apartment tower, one of the towers owned by Nakheel at Jumeirah Lake Towers development, will be part of a repertoire of 78 high rise buildings being developed by individual investors and construction consortiums. Surrounded by lakes and waterways, and set among breathtaking landscapes the Jumeirah Lake Towers will dramatically alter the cityscape of Dubai, redrawing its skyline and offering a unique high-rise living experience.

Announcing the launch of the construction, Sultan Ahmed Bin Sulayem, Executive Chairman of Nakheel said: 'The Nakheel Falcon Tower will form the hallmark of the development as it bears the quality and creative signature of Nakheel. The tower is constructed to offer the investors and its residents a futuristic lifestyle right at loft of the most desirable district in Dubai, Jumeirah, once again delivering on Nakheel's assurance of creating inspired living spaces that are aesthetically designed with all modern amenities. Nakheel has responded to the high demand for high-rise buildings in Dubai with the creation of a unique waterfront development, Jumeirah Lake Towers. Nakheel Falcon Tower with its convenient location in close proximity to various leisure facilities such the beach, golf course and business addresses including Jebel Ali Free Zone, Dubai Media City and Dubai Internet City, in addition to office buildings in neighbouring towers makes ideal home for Dubai's residents.'

The one and two bedroom apartment in Nakheel Falcon Tower range between 101 square metres and 135 square meters and occupy the first 14 floors with four one-bedroom units and four two-bedroom units on each floor. The three bedroom apartments each having an area of 239 square metres occupy the rest of the floors with four units on each floor. The tower has a three storeyed underground parking facility that will provide parking for up to 400 cars, in addition to extensive retail facilities located at its base and an ultra modern health club situated at its rooftop. The apartment high-rise lies in close proximity to other signature developments by Nakheel, the Jumeirah Islands, Discovery Gardens, Jumeirah Village and the Gardens Shopping Mall.

'In addition to the facilities located in the Jumeirah Lake Tower Development, the residents of Nakheel Falcon Towers are fully complemented with the panoramic views of surrounding lakes and extensive retail, leisure and lifestyle amenities of the projects that lie adjacent to it; said Bin Sulayem.

The residents of the towers can wake up everyday to the beautifully landscaped waterways in the development in addition to the vast open spaces of Jumeirah Lake Towers. They can also enjoy a day of shopping at the adjacent Gardens Shopping Mall or lounge away in one of the many restaurants and cafés in the feature island being developed within the waterways of the Jumeirah Lake Towers.

The Jumeirah Lake Towers is located adjacent to the Sheikh Zayed Road between Interchange 5 and 6, comprises of 26 clusters, with each cluster having three towers. Clusters on the development are completely sold out attracting investments from different nationalities from all over the world. Each investor would then construct a tower on each plot within the cluster, to be used for residential, commercial or retail purposes, under the guidelines of Nakheel. An impressive 55-storey tower will be the centrepiece of the entire community and will house a hotel, a gold and diamond centre, which is managed by DMCC (Dubai Metals and Commodities Centre).

I have usually remained in the OZscrapers thread, but I saw a program the other night on the two hotels that were built in Dubai. The waterfront project (man made canal or something like that) was breifly mentioned. I was intruiged, and here i am. But I just have soo many questions to ask. I hope this is the right place to ask them. Either way Dubai seems to be the location of the largest most ambitious development project the world has ever seen. Sorry, just had to say that, back to the questions

Are all of the different buildings being built around the massive man made marina?

Is this development in close proximity to the two hotels that have already been built (i'm sure there are more than two now but I hope someone knows what i mean)

Is the 700m building being built at this marina

Is there a website that overs an overview of the entire project (if it is indeed one project)

What is the time frame on the project (ie are all the buildings being built at once, or do they all even have permission)

Where is all the money coming form to pay for this, Rome wasn't built in a day but it appears the modern Dubai might be

Any basic information that anyone gives me would be greatly appreciated, I only just found out about this project and am overwhelmed, yet incredibly impressed. Hope someone out there is willing to answer my questions, thanks a lot

hi idle21 :)
well, actually there's two man made lakes which will be surrounded by skyscrapers (well actually more than 2 but...) , Jumeirah lake Towers and that Dubai Marina
JLT map&buildings you can check here http://skyscrapercity.com/showthread.php?t=133481
and those Dubai Marina buildings are scattered in the tower forum. just look around and you'll find them :) http://skyscrapercity.com/forumdisplay.php?f=457

and Burj Dubai is not 700m anymore, it will be 800m-950m :)
check out the map of projects in Dubai for locations

Take a look at that pdf file above. Jumeirah Beach Residence will be between Dubai Marina and the sea, and there will be maybe around 30-40 highrises in that project as well.

And then you've also got the two man made Islands www.thepalm.co.ae and the underwater Hydropolis Hotel coming up as well

well glad to have you here
as for all teh building being built there seems a great chance they will be
in our tower thread so many are under C as marked by their thread names
The money is coming from investment buyeer and developers reacting to the market which for now seems bottom less

To summarize what juiced and dazz said: the greater majority of the new towers are going to be built in "New Dubai" which is the collective name of Dubai Marina, Jumeirah Lake Towers and Jumeirah Beach Residence, the towers here are "sandwiched" between three water bodies (2 huge artificial lake and the ocean). Burj Dubai, however, is going to be built much closer to downtown Dubai which is where the creek is (see pdf) and is going to be where the older skyscrapers of Dubai are currently located. So basically, there are two distant major construction zones, New Dubai and the Trade Center area.

Hey thanks for all the answers I'm starting to get a much clearer image of whats happening there.

So most of the new development (bar the 800m tower) are being built basically in the same area between the man made lakes and the ocean. Is this the same area that the World, and Palms (i think thats its name) and the massive mall and indoor ski slope are being built? And if so, is this basically the same area as the two hotels I mentioned?

Thanks again for the answers, really helpful

The mall as in Mall of the Emirates is only about 2 k down from the Marian and Lakes area. THere is also Anotehr Mall at the base of the Burj Dubai ( the 800 meter tower )
there is some develipment along the road that fronts the 1km block that the Bruj Dubai Develeopment is on but that is only like 20 towers or so (LOL 20 or so ) but compared to Marian. Media City, Pearl and Lakes area where there are over 100. Palms and World are shore maybe your best to look at some of our maps

flamingo tower in jlt has been launched today

http://www.ayuplanet.com/dxblover/New Towers/Flamingo Tower.jpg

Nakheel announces launch of 'Nakheel Flamingo' at Jumeirah Lake Towers
Nakheel, the property developer who has conceived some of the most unique and iconic projects in the Middle East region has announced the launch of its new tower 'Nakheel Flamingo', a second high-rise waterfront residential complex at Jumeirah Lake Towers, due to the rising demand for such residential options in Dubai and following the successful debut of a similar project, 'Nakheel Falcon', a few days earlier at the development.

The new 40- storey tower complements other Nakheel owned properties in Jumeirah Lake Towers development with 254- one, two and three bedroom apartments giving investors an unparalleled lifestyle in the trendiest district of Dubai, Jumeirah. The new high-rise property development joins 78-towers that will line the Sheikh Zayed road redrawing the Dubai Manhattan. The apartment units in Nakheel Flamingo go on sale from today.

Announcing the launch, Sultan Ahmed Bin Sulayem, Executive Chairman of Nakheel said: 'Nakheel Flamingo will be a spectacular addition to the development as this new high-rise will enhance the ensemble of Jumeirah Lake Towers and reflect the transformation of Dubai. The tower follows a distinctive theme in the form of sculpted Flamingos on its frontage and will stand out from the clutch of other high-rise buildings in the development, crediting a way of life that is futuristic, successful and stylish.'

Customers can choose from a range of one, two or three bedroom apartments in Nakheel Flamingo with an option of different sizes depending on the floor on which the apartment is located. The tower also has a three-storey underground parking facility that will provide parking for up to 400 cars, in addition to extensive retail facilities located at its base and an ultra modern health club situated at its rooftop. The apartment high-rise lies in close proximity to Jebel Ali, Abu Dhabi, Dubai Media city, Dubai Internet City and other signature developments by Nakheel, the Jumeirah Islands, Discovery Gardens, Jumeirah Village and The Gardens Shopping Mall.

'The project is developed with the aim of bringing a community spirit to high rise commercial and residential living. By grouping the very basic amenities of a modern lifestyle in close proximity, Nakheel has yet again demonstrated its resourcefulness in developing property that is attuned to the needs of the investor. High-rise living in Jumeirah Lake Towers promotes security and camaraderie among its residents, who will be additionally pampered with the aesthetics and exclusivity of waterfront living through Nakheel Flamingo,' said Bin Sulayem.

The Jumeirah Lake Towers is located adjacent to the Sheikh Zayed Road between Interchange 5 and 6, comprises of 26 clusters, with each cluster having three towers. Clusters on the development are completely sold out. Each investor would then construct a tower on each plot within the cluster, to be used for residential, commercial or retail purposes, under the guidelines of Nakheel. An impressive 55-storey tower will be the centrepiece of the entire community and will house a hotel, a gold and diamond centre, which is managed by Dubai Metals and Commodities Centre (DMCC).

dubai is the best city for me, i lived there 17 years from 1977 to 1994. our family moved to dubai in 1977, back then it was almost all desert with few buildings here and there, mostly in deira, the city looked like a dirty village, . Back then the city of dubai was so small, that u could walk the whole city in 1 hours probably. by the time i moved from dubai in 1994, it had become in to a huge city with nice tall buildings, it became an international city by the time i left. the growth of dubai left a really big mark on me and my family, we lived during the boom period of the 1980's, i have so many memories of dubai from back then. afcourse this current boom is even greater then the boom of the 80's, i am pretty sure that the people who are living there are having a time of their life, like i had in the 80's

Ps i am going back there soon

have they thought about who will be running these buildings? there are not so many people in the UAE to fill in so many builsings like that....you need a huge human resource for such a thing and im not sure if they plan or if they can make it in such a small place as the UAE...

What about the new building between Dalma Tower and Al Salam Tecom tower? There is a full swing of activities going on there, piling and all that, but no board yet.

In comparision the site of Salam tower is left like abandoned.

That's true Trances. There is a lot of activities going on there not just on that building site, but all around that aerea. There are a lot of machineries digging and working around and is hard to understand what's going on, it seams like landscaping or even digging for artificial lakes.

It has become crazy this last week especially.

Denis, even SA Boy has mentioned a couple of times the new building between Salam and Dalma towers.

No, not those. Those have already broken ground and there are other buildings U/C around there, so that aerea definitelly has to be checked up.

I am talking about the aerea near Dubai Internet City, so on the other sidfe of SZR

What is being build on the site 2 plots before Crown Plazza Hotel, just next to that old tall and very thin white residence tower? There is a full swing of activities going one there, a lot of stone blocks and steel skeletons. I don't remember to have been a board before there.

Or maybe it is that Conrad Hotel????

Also can someone confirm if between the Dalma tower and where the Al Salam Tecom Tower's board stand, it is another tower being build or it is Al Salam tower itself?

I drive daily there, but i really can't understand by just driving by.

Hey DL, can u kindly post the link to the thread related to the second tower. What is the location of the first and second tower that chad posted? If u look closely, the adjacent building to the left of the first building, and the adjacent building to the right of the second render are the same...so i presume, they are in one street...

My goodness! Seems to me that this is the future Hong Kong! :) All these projects are extremely nice. What are the main industries of the U.A.E? Does the country have a good port, since it seems to me it's in an excellent location for one...

Dubai-Lover - you're doing an amazing job, allowing us to follow progress from afar ... how DO you find the time?!

One idea I had for the photos: Adding an arrow indicating which direction the camera is pointing (i.e. N, NE, etc.) ... or adding small labels naming the other buildings in the background
