Kota Bahru Airport look very nice. Probably one of the best in Malaysia. The building itself not look like airport! The curve roof of the interior is elegant.

goodness!!! I'm VERY impressed by all the state airports shown here...!! GOSH, I remember when Bayan Lepas airport was a dump...and MIRI's airport was nothing but a shack with the departure lounge almost right beside the runway.....And Kelantan....all I can say is, Wow! dig the interior....I think the exterior is too understated for such a beautiful inside :)

The warm tone is to suit its English theme and I do not think the lighting is excessive. Remove one of the lights and the place would be dark. Unless the ownere wants to use back those el-cheapo fluorescent light :D

About the couch ending up viewing the wall.....well......I dun think they could help it as such narrow living room isn't a great interior space to start with. The original chairs opposite the original couch actually distrupt traffic flow and anyone walking into the house would have to pass in the middle which could distrupt conversation between those on the chairs and the couch. Furhtermore there are no space for the coffee table making the original interior decor impractical. ;)

In the end it is not the designer's fault but the interior space is bad making almost any arrangment impractical unless the furnoture is custom-made :)


But then again I do find some of the design here a bit the too aesthetic-centric and impractical. Like the excessive use of candles......candles generate heat and our country's weather isn't too cold :D

HOTEL Maya Kuala Lumpur recently unveiled its fashionable new look recently after going through a six-month revamp that saw its transformation into the city’s first boutique-style retreat.

A dinner reception attended by about 150 people made up of corporate clients, tenants of offices in the vicinity and hotel management staff, was held to celebrate the launch of the revamped look.

A video was also shown to highlight the refurbished details. General manager I. Z. Melvin said the focus of a boutique hotel was to appeal to the guests’ senses through the combinations of unique architecture, design, colours, lighting, art, and music.

“With the hotel taking on a new persona, fashionable lifestyle is very much emphasised apart from just comfort and convenience.

“We have reduced our guestrooms from 280 to 207 in line with our concept of being an intimate place for us to connect better with them.

“The reduction in the number of rooms was also meant to expand the size of every room,” he said.

Melvin added that all 207 rooms would open by end of August along with the opening of the hotel’s new spa.

The enhanced interior has a wide usage of natural fibre, water and bamboo features, and wood panelling to create a cosy and resort-like setting.

The rooms have rustic timber flooring in place of the common carpeting, contemporary furnishing, and floor-to-ceiling glass panels that overlook the cityscape with the prominent landmarks of Petronas Twin Towers and KL Tower.

The 22-storey property is made up of 100 studio room units, 20 junior suites that are ideal for honeymooners, two studio twin executive suites and 85 deluxe suites.

Marketing communications manager Cheryl Lum said the newly renovated interior consists of a lot of plants and water elements to convey a relaxing atmosphere so guests would not feel the hectic pace of Kuala Lumpur although the hotel was located in the busy Jalan Ampang.
