MiamiMan305 July 27th, 2010, 02:09 AM Have never been there but I have the feeling that St. Paul would be nicer to live, because it's less congested, expensive, and crime filled and that Minneapolis would be better to visit because it offers better shopping, nightlife, and restaurants.
dmoor82 July 27th, 2010, 05:08 AM having been to both,I'd say I would live in St.Paul but would visit and shop, eat, play in Minne!I really like Minny's skyline!
Xusein July 27th, 2010, 05:13 AM I prefer Minneapolis. It feels more like a "big city".
However, St Paul has it's own particular charm. It feels more historic in areas.
Somnifor July 27th, 2010, 09:14 AM I've lived in both for long periods of time, Minneapolis is a lot more fun and feels like a city.
If I had a family though I would probably live in St Paul, culturally it is more or less a large small town that is next to a city, people know each other and they tend to live in the same neighborhoods for a long time. It beats Minneapolis in terms of old neighborhoods, tight communities and low crime but Minneapolis wins everything else.

^^both cities population are small, but WOW that metro population makes up for that!Minny's skyline is reflective of a 1mil city, not a 330k!
Xusein July 27th, 2010, 03:53 PM But city-limits is not what matters, it is the metro population. The Twin Cities has a total population of over 3 million.

^^I know, that's why I said that in my post.to put it in perspective OKC has 560k and 1.3 m metro and Minny has 330k and over 3 m metro!Minny feels bigger,is more dense and it's metro pop is over twice as much! You are right metro numbers is what matters!
Jennifat July 27th, 2010, 05:45 PM I have to admit Hyrule, you picked some rather unflattering photos of the Twin Cities. I cringe looking at all of the surface parking we still have in downtown Minneapolis. Ugly as hell. :(

but then again theres only one larger city in that metro right? where as the twin cities has two when added together their populations are over that core city... :)
and yes i know theres alot of parking, but i kinda liked the aerial shot
the other shots are actually very good
MillerTime July 27th, 2010, 11:44 PM Yeah OKC has 560k people but the city has a land area of over 600 sq.mi. while Minneapolis and St. Paul are each ~50 sq.mi. That gives the twin cities core cities a population just under 700k within an area of ~100 sq.mi. and im sure would be well over 1million if it were to cover 600+ sq.mi. Which is why metro population is always the fairest way to judge the size of a city.

^^90%(500k+) of OKC's population resides in only 1/3 of that 6oo sq miles, another 1/3 is partially developed, and The last is rural!I was just making a comparison, maybe my hometown isnt The best example!maybe Atlanta,Boston,MIA,STL,KC,Seattle...all these cities are WELL under a million in city proper(all these cities are between 350-650 k),but have large Metro populations!Sorry guy's for The bad comparison!
Resident July 29th, 2010, 04:43 AM I voted for St. Paul. I haven't spent that much time in either city, but I did spend a week in the twins last June and brought my scooter and just drove around and took pictures about the whole time. I found St. Paul to be a more neighborhood oriented city? While Minneapolis with the better skyline imo, didn't really have that feel outside of uptown, and a few on the northside. I can't really explain it well enough for you guys, but I tried. On that note, I love them as twins and they compliment each other very well.
Bond James Bond July 29th, 2010, 05:23 AM City vs. city threads are forbidden.
