I must admit, it looks a MASSIVE improvement from previously. I'm surprised but glad that they chose to refurb and not simply move to new premises. From a distance, it looks great. Up close, it reminds me of towers from the 1970s. Wish/hope they can do the same for Hilton Melbourne!

Hilton is Sydney's thinnest scraper at 17m wide.Its height/width ratio is nearly 8;1.
not sure how thin QV is? would be close.

i reckon over next couple of weeks the green crap will be pulled away to real the completed podium. then tower is complete. looks F.A.B.

...and that leaves the interior to do. I read a few weeks back that interior works have barely begun following the discovery of asbestos inside the tower. It will be worth the extra wait.

Im glad to see in culs new pic that the strips of glass which had been covered in brown (for some reason) have gone back to glass. I was worried about that.

The southern face never have the covering. If you look at Cul's almost side-on pic which shows the northen face, you'll notice the covering is still there.

According to the render, wasn't the glass supposed to be transparent, like you could see right through it? This glass looks very dark, almost black.

I think this question has been posted before, but I have not seen an aswer so I'll ask again.

On the northern side of the tower, there are just vertical bands of brown where windows are supposed to be. It is a very stark contrast and I'm wondering why the developer has done this. Is there a logical reason? :)

^ i think it has something to do with new lift shafts.they had to use some window facade for service core. the first design for the redvelopment actually had external bubble lifts. also another 3 floors added and total new glass facade but as with every far out proposal the costs were too high and they had to compromise. i think its turned out brilliant.

since tower has been finished a while now only the street frontages at george & pitt are to be completed at podium level.So as its weel over 500posts, time for a new thread, just for podium pix over next month or so.
