lucky_yen_yen July 17th, 2004, 03:46 PM Nice shots, these are real good photos of kaohsiung. hope that a few super tall buildings will be built b4 2009 to creat a better skyline.
Taipei101 July 18th, 2004, 11:21 AM Sky Plaza.
thyrdrail July 25th, 2004, 02:17 PM Kaohsiung hasn't built any new skyscrapers in a while.

Taipei101 July 28th, 2004, 02:36 AM Alot of apartments though.
Archangel-X August 19th, 2004, 11:18 AM The buffet in the Tuntex towers - (the tallest building in the above photos) is delicious + you get a beautiful view of Kaohsiung harbour.

what?! this is zhongyong jie??:eek: amazing!!!
superchan7 November 27th, 2004, 10:24 PM nice pix...to me it looks better than taipei.
stanford November 28th, 2004, 01:42 AM Kaohsiung is a much more laid-back city. I always get the feel that the traffic situation is much better, the streets are much cleaner, and the overall feel is nicer. But, nothing beats the hustle and bustle of Taipei. The South is certainly nice and it has a lot of potential, but theres just something about the North that appeals to me.
David3820 November 28th, 2004, 02:14 AM That is an impressive skyline but for me it wouldn't be if the Tuntex tower wasn't in it. Lol, it's funny how just one building can effect how great I think the skyline is by so much. I think it's because that very wide and bulging green tower would seem so out of place in that skyline and throw it right off if the Tuntex wasn't there.

vant April 1st, 2005, 07:45 PM 60 years ago, Japan was going to build Takao(Kaohsiung) into the south capital of the Japanese Empire that controls the whole South East Asia. One thing that shows is that Kaohsiung has wider roads than other Taiwanese cities. However, some of them were reduced by KMT government later.
If Kaohsiung was not ignored by KMT government for so long, it might have passed Taipei as the biggest city in Taiwan long time ago.
howjimaru April 1st, 2005, 09:08 PM when are they gonna finish the hyatt hotel !? the steel skeleton just destroys the skyline
superchan7 April 1st, 2005, 09:16 PM Looks better than Taipei (I think I said that on the previous page too). The festival shots are great.
Magician April 2nd, 2005, 04:15 AM KaoHsiung is such a nice city.... the city itself is more systematic compared to Taipei which is more crowded and not very systematic...
But both cities have their specialties... KaoHsiung is really a great place to live in
howjimaru April 2nd, 2005, 07:01 PM i saw the asia plaza project in emporis, will it actually be built? it said that the construction is supposed to begin in 2004 but i don't see anything

At the same token, Taipei wouldn't be the biggest city. It all depends on where you stand...

If Kaohsiung was not ignored by KMT government for so long, it might have passed Taipei as the biggest city in Taiwan long time ago.
However, if it wasn't for the KMT, Kaohsiung would not have been developed at all. Actually, not just Kaohsiung, but all of Taiwan. So you can't really say that.
letsgoworld August 6th, 2005, 12:42 AM awesome!!
aznrunner345 November 18th, 2005, 06:47 AM i love kaohsiung!! the shopping district is breathttaking!! kaohsiung is packed then b4 although not as packed as taipei kaohsiung is wayyy bigger then seattle seattle i sliek a ghost town compared to kaohsiung
superchan7 November 18th, 2005, 08:36 PM People usually like the nightlife in Asian cities better. In the USA, "nightlife" usually means nightclubs, which in general aren't particularly clean environments by social standards.
Kaiser January 1st, 2006, 09:49 AM nice pix!
Kaoshsiung looks better than Taipei!
kongla October 30th, 2006, 10:42 AM very beautiful picture and Kaoshsiung is look clean and clear than Taipei.
Is Kaoshsiung are the largest port city of Taiwan ?
and How many population of this city ?
How far between Kaoshsiung and Taipei ?
please tell me . Thank you
Echang03 October 30th, 2006, 05:32 PM Kaohisung is in fact the biggest port in Taiwan and the population is around 1.5 million i think? and it's like around 4.5 hours to Taipei. Actually Kaohsiung has a bigger population density than Taipei does.
Magician November 2nd, 2006, 02:15 AM I went Kaohsiung before... I really like the city... is dense, big and clean... but of course Taipei is more happening...

Pangu December 21st, 2006, 05:31 PM 今天看饮食节目,说高雄以前叫打狗:)
高雄的日文名字發音是 "Takao"
HKG December 21st, 2006, 05:39 PM 日本人有没有把台湾其他城市名字改为日本名? 高雄原本就叫高雄吗?
Pangu December 21st, 2006, 05:50 PM
pierre-laurent December 21st, 2006, 05:59 PM originally, ta-kao was rather from aboriginal language, if my memory is good.
