Curzon Gateway Tower
Part of the Castle Cement phase of Eastside. Plans for a sloping 25 storey residential tower are outlined in the Eastside masterplan.

Snowhill Development
1 million sq ft mixed use scheme. Recent reports suggest Ballymore are planning a “Skyscraper” on the Snowhill Station carpark. They have approached SOM for design work.

Crosby Tower
Crosby Homes are planning to build a 19 storey residential tower on a piece of land they own on Broad Street.

Skyhouse
David Marks plans to build a 137m Skyhouse style tower. Early discussions have taken place with the Council.
Current Status: Finding suitable development partner and location. Early planning stage.
Edgbasten Shopping Centre
A £100 million redevelopement proposal that will see the existing shopping centre and Calthorpe House demolished and replaced by a number of towers, with the tallest being up to 70m.
Current Status: Awaiting planning permission. Start early 2005.

Tower Refurbs
Rotunda
Birmingham’s landmark tower is set to get a makeover and be possibly converted into apartments. All existing tenants move out June/July 2004.
Current Status: Planned. Start 2005.
Cumberland House
Existing occupiers move out late 2004. The tower is planned to undergo a refurbishment programme although its unclear as yet what its future use will be.
Current Status: Early planning stage. Start 2005.
Tricorn House
To undergo a £14 million refurbishment programme both interior and exterior.
Current Status: Start 2004/5

Birmingham Needle
A project to be brought forward by the Birmingham Needle Group who are currently conducting a design competition. (Rendering is from Glen Howells Architects). To be located in the Eastside Area.
Current Status: Early Planning Stage. Design competition in progress.

Ludgate Scheme

Martineu Galleries
1 million sq ft mixed-use scheme. A heavy retail presence will be incorporated into the scheme that initially was to be another Bullring type development. Possibly including a new theatre.
Current Status: Planned. Start 2006
Birmingham Library
350,000 sq ft, 300m long elliptical shaped building that will be the 10 largest library in the world.

Birmingham Gate
Giant wheel type structure with rotating gondolas to act as a gateway into the city centre from the east.

Town Hall Refurbishment
£35m refurbishment of Birmingham landmark to be turned into a civic/cultural meeting place.
Current Status: Start early 2004.
Baskerville House Refurbishment
£75m refurbishment of another Birmingham Landmark. Baskerville House will have 2 extra floors added and will provide over 200,000 sq ft of office space.

£400m mixed use scheme. Will include 1.5 million sq ft of commercial space linking the Bullring to the Eastside area. Will see Digbeth High Street turned into a tree lined boulavard and the area redeveloped over the next 10 years.

Eastside
A gigantic mixed-use scheme. £6 billion worth of investment covering 420 acres. Will act as an expansion to the city centre and as a learning/cultural quarter. Over 10 million sq ft of space including several thousand new homes/apartments.
Current Status: Ongoing development over the next 10 – 15 years.
