Anyway, I am now studying in NTU right now and I can see that JTC have started the building projects. Will be updating the thread with pics once the term starts. Here is some info on the project. :)

Anybody know the fate of the two traditional kiln(dao guan and dragon) lying there? Are they going to be conserved or demolished?

CleanTech One achieves 50% occupancy rate

SINGAPORE: The upcoming CleanTech Park in Jurong West is attracting strong interest.

Industrial landlord JTC said the first phase of the eco business park - CleanTech One - has already achieved a 50 per cent occupancy rate.

The building is part of a total of 25 buildings which will make up the entire CleanTech Park.

The new eco business park will occupy a land of about 50 football fields and will only be fully completed by 2030.

One of the key aims of the park is to provide a one-stop place for cleantech companies to interact and collaborate in different research and development projects.

CleanTech One is expected to be completed by December next year, and tenants can move into the two-towered building by early 2012.

The construction cost of CleanTech One is about S$87 million. The 37,500 square metre building will occupy a 1.5-hectare site.

A unique feature of CleanTech One is that it also incorporates renewable energy and green facilities as part of its design and operation.

JTC chairman Cedric Foo said: "By locating here at CleanTech One, companies can demonstrate their commitment towards green technologies. This strong brand association cannot be replicated elsewhere in Singapore."

There are hopes that CleanTech Park will become a model of sustainable features for other industrial parks.

Senior Minister of State for Trade and Industry S Iswaran said: "We have made good progress in building up a strong cleantech ecosystem comprising world-class R&D centres, testing and certification services, and multipliers such as various venture capital funds and incubators.

"These institutes and initiatives serve to complement (one another) to create a dynamic environment for advancement in clean technologies".

Some of the key tenants in CleanTech One include the Nanyang Environment and Water Research Institute, SOLID Asia, one of the world's leading specialists in all applications of solar thermal energy, and Sinomen Technology, a membrane solution provider.

One of the tenants, DHI, a water environment technology company, will move a majority of its current facilities from Pandan Loop to CleanTech One.

DHI Water & Environment's Southeast Asia's regional manager, Tom Foster, said: "So, (the) 3,000 square metres which we've committed, which is about 40 per cent more than what we presently have in our existing office building, gives us the opportunity to expand our research and developments here in Singapore.

"We're probably planning to expand our research by 40 per cent or so in human capital; it's probably an increase of something in the order of S$1.5 million of (our) own funding at the moment to maybe S$2 million of own funding come 2012, when we plan to move in here.

"And the ability to mix and to cooperate with the other companies here, I think, it's a tremendous opportunity to foster the research and development of sustainable technologies in Singapore."

^^ Not too sure. Based on what I see, it could be around 70 to 80 percent. :)

^^ So far there is only 1 bus. SBS Transit service 199 from Boon Lay Interchange. :)

Hello, may I kindly ask you whether Bus 199 is too crowded between 8am to 9am from Boon Lay interchange to Clean Tech One and from Clean Tech One to Boon Lay interchange in the afternoon between 5 to 6pm.

^^ Well, if it is during the semester, it would be crowded. During term breaks, there are not as many people. Do check NTU's semester duration on its website to be sure. :)

S'pore's first remanufacturing centre to occupy CleanTech Two

The Advanced Remanufacturing & Technology Centre (ARTC) will be an anchor tenant at JTC Corporation's upcoming CleanTech Two building (pictured) at CleanTech Park.

ARTC is the first in Asia to embark on research and development (R&D) in order to develop remanufacturing technologies that can be easily adopted by the industry.

Remanufacturing refers to the process of turning near-end products into good-as-new ones. The industry is expected to boost productivity and provide cost savings for businesses, as well as create higher-skill jobs in the manufacturing sector.

The S$70 million CleanTech Two building, which stands next to CleanTech One, will provide 22,300 sq m of office, workshop and laboratory space. The building, which sits on a 0.9 ha site, is set to be completed by Q3 2014.

ARTC is expected to occupy up to 40 percent of the premises.

“ARTC's initiative underscores the compelling value of CleanTech Park in clustering knowledge activities to support sustainable development,” noted Manohar Khiatani, Chief Executive Officer at JTC.

Raj Thampuran, Executive Director at A*Star's Science and Engineering Research Council, noted, “Remanufacturing can have the ability to boost productivity for local industries all the same and lead to cost savings for some businesses.”

JTC Begins Cleantech Two Building Construction for Cleantech-Related R+D Work

JTC commenced the construction of its second building at CleanTech park namely CleanTech Two for satisfying the demand of industry players who require flexible spaces, which can accommodate wet and dry laboratories for cleantech-related R&D activities.
Cleantech Two is located adjacent Cleantech One and will have 22,300 sq. m of laboratories, office spaces and workshop in a site spanning 0.9 ha.

The building will include distinct sustainable features and is scheduled to be completed by Q3, 2014. The centre is a combined effort between academia, public sector research labs and industry players to enable the growth of remanufacturing technologies in Singapore. Advanced Remanufacturing Research Centre (ARTC) will be the anchor tenant.

JTC’s CEO Mr Manohar Khiatani stated that the company’s second building Cleantech Two will add a new dimension to clean technology R&D and to Clean Tech Park. Cleantech Two will be the anchor of remanufacturing technology growth and will improve environmental sustainability for the manufacturing sector.

Cleantech One offers office space and laboratories, CleanTech Two will enable prototyping and research activities that need higher height clearances, heavier loading and higher electrical power requirements. Furthermore to meet the increasing demand for cleantech incubation facilities, CleanTech Two will be characterized by fitted offices and laboratories. Cleantech Two is equipped with sophisticated green features such as the right building orientation to reduce heat gain.

This building has been designed to have 30% better energy efficiency when compared to a standard building having the same usage and size.

NTU President, professor Bertil Andersson stated that the JTC CleanTech Park will have a number of large research centres like the Nanyang Environmental and Water Research Institute (NEWRI) and the $200 million Energy Research Institute at NTU.

NTU along with the ARTC will play a significant role in developing the new technology by contributing its research expertise resources and technological capabilities.

NTU to receive S$132m this year for water research institute

The Nanyang Technological University will be getting S$132 million this year for its water research institute, bringing its total funding to about S$400 million by end 2016. The funds are from the government, as well as multinational corporations and small and medium enterprises.

SINGAPORE: The Nanyang Technological University will be getting S$132 million this year for its water research institute, bringing its total funding to about S$400 million by end 2016.

The funds are from the government, as well as multinational corporations and small and medium enterprises.

The Nanyang Environment and Water Research Institute (NEWRI) has also moved into its new premises at JTC CleanTech Park, a business park catered to green firms.

As NEWRI moves into its second phase of development since it opened in 2008, executive director Prof Ng Wun Jern said the institute will focus on new areas of research in industrial waste water treatment and the energy-waste-water nexus.

JTC Corporation wins BCA's Green Mark Champion award

JTC Corporation has won the Green Mark Champion award this year, making it the only organisation to do so. The award is given out by the Building and Construction Authority (BCA).

SINGAPORE: JTC Corporation has won the Green Mark Champion award this year, making it the only organisation to do so.

The award is given out by the Building and Construction Authority (BCA).

Over the years, JTC clinched six Green Mark Platinum, three Gold Plus and one Gold awards.

The Green Mark Champion award recognises developers with strong commitment towards corporate social responsibility and outstanding achievements in environmental sustainability.

BCA said the award was conferred on JTC for seeing through their commitment towards environmental sustainability.

One of JTC's Green Mark Platinum awards was for its CleanTech Park project for its green district design. It is the first project to attain the highest Green Mark Platinum rating since its launch in October 2009.
