These lists are fun but each magazine seems to have a slightly different list. It depends on the reader and the country of publication. And it does depend on the popularity of the location. There may be a top class hotel somewhere that not many western tourists visited.
I always thought Leela Beach was amongst the top hotels in India. It doesn't even make the list but a not so extraordinary Oberoi New Delhi makes it! It's not possible that Java has only one top class hotel but Bali has so many. The best hotels in China seem to be in the huge cities but I am sure they have top class resort hotels in beaches and mountains. Only Tokyo figures from Japan.
So it is more a perceptive analysis I guess.
But one thing is clear. Bali, Bangkok, Hongkong and Singapore seem to be the top choice across all magazines.
