Tajikistan is one of the most mountainous countries in the world. The country has 7.3 million inhabitants and the capital is Dushanbe. The Ismoil Somoni Peak is the highest point at 7.495 meters above sea level. This is the highest mountain outside the Himalayas.

The M34. This is the single most important road in Tajikistan. Back in the 1990's, it was largely unpaved and inaccessible for most of the year. The Chinese have paved the road and constructed several tunnels, which connects northern Tajikistan to southern Tajikistan year-round without having to bypass the Pamir Mountains via Uzbekistan.

Between 2002 and 2007, 3 bridges spanning the Panj River have been constructed between Tajikistan and Afghanistan.

Before the construction of these bridges, land transport between the two countries was impossible. There are no ferries (the rivers are probably too wild for it) and the border is entirely made up of rivers in a very mountainous region, especially further east in the Pamirs.

That second-to-last photo says something about a bIdge.
That's the name of the bridge: Pahta Boigarii Bridge.
Though I don't speak Russian, I think this is not in Russian, Cyrillic yes but probably some crazy Tajik dialect.

Tajik is not Russian, it's a Persian language with a slightly different Cyrillic script.

For instance, Ҷ Ғ Ҳ and Ӯ are not used in Russian.
