8 is an auspicious number for the Chinese and this theme can be found in many buildings in Asia. Post some examples.
Here is The Concourse. It is a stack of 8 octagons resting on top of each other.

Seems like Suntec City Mall might have this element too.....it's floor space is 888000 sq ft....:D

Haha....I think the whole suntec development was linked to fengshui.....from the floor space to the fountain of wealth....:)

when was The Concourse built? looks like modernism...maybe early postmodernism to me... so '80s or '90s maybe?
