baqthier July 22nd, 2004, 06:51 AM Looks decent though the idea of the roof as the ceiling doesn't work great there. But still good coz got shops and no need to go around those old stalls again while waiting hehe. BTW, are there still non-aircon bus in Melaka? Last time I took...panas but not stuffy and also very cheap :D
Thanks for the pics man!
Kevinkhoo1986 July 22nd, 2004, 07:45 AM Seems like every state and district in Malaysia now really like to use the word "sentral" for its transportation centre. Even right now Klang is going to have its very own "Klang Sentral". I could see a lot of banners hang on the streetlights along the main road in klang about the "Klang sentral"'s project. Our previous Klang's bus station already burnt due to unknown reason.

It 's so nicer than in almost KL bus terminal station I think.!
D_Y2k.2^ July 22nd, 2004, 10:30 AM Hehehe..very true!Maybe the ceilling should b similar to KLIA's ?:P
D_Y2k.2^ July 22nd, 2004, 10:32 AM Melaka stil got lots of old un air conditioned bus...really hope they will replace them ASAP.BUt the advantage is like wat u said Baq,low cost:)

Wow, Klang will have its own "Sentral"? That's, like, cool!
How about PeeJay? Will there be something like a new PJ Sentral or its equivalent to be built here :) ?
TYW July 24th, 2004, 05:34 AM nice building. i agree that the roof is not so good though
THT-United July 25th, 2004, 06:54 AM The building looks good, really similar to klia!
However, the roof is a letdown... Looks more suitable for a market or cheap hypermarket (think of Giant), instead of a modern bus terminal...

yung85 February 22nd, 2006, 09:46 PM hey is melaka sentral a bus station only? or is it a train station also?
nazrey February 22nd, 2006, 10:12 PM Melaka sentral is Malaysia's first air-conditioned bus terminal
Malacca's Bus and Taxi terminal - officially known as Melaka Sentral
Zed February 23rd, 2006, 09:30 AM hey is melaka sentral a bus station only? or is it a train station also?
It's only a bus (state and express) and taxi station, not a train station.
FYI, Melaka don't have a train station. The nearest train station is in Tampin close to Melaka/Negeri Sembilan state's border.
I do hope that the plan to re-connect the old train line (which was taken away during WW2 by the Japs for the death railway tarck in Burma) would materialise one day and the Melaka's train station is somewhere near Melaka Sentral.

this is the worst map that i've ever seen. can be very very misleading. Every place seems to be located so near to Melaka Sentral.
e.g. hey, Melaka Sentral is juz located off North South Highway!!! great location.

nazrey May 18th, 2009, 06:00 AM Hop on the new panorama buses to get around Malacca
Monday May 18, 2009
MALACCA: Three new air-conditioned panorama buses were added to the state’s seven-strong bus line-up offering locals and tourists new routes and destination around the historic city.
Chief minister Datuk Seri Mohd Ali Rustam said the three new panorama buses would ferry passengers from the city’s domestic and express bus terminals at Malacca Sentral in Peringgit to Malacca International Trade Centre (MITC) in Ayer Keroh.
“The additional buses also provides convenience to locals as well as tourists who intend to go shopping at the newly opened Mydin wholesale hypermarket at MITC,” he said in his speech during the launching ceremony at Malacca Sentral recently.
Costing RM1.5mil, he said the buses would cover two different routes from Malacca Sentral to MITC with the wholesale hypermarket being the drop-off point.
The routes covered by the buses include Malacca Hospital, Rumahku Syurgaku at Bukit Katil, Seri Negeri and Kota Cemerlang.
Another bus route would cover Batu Berendam, Taman Merdeka, the airport, Jelutong, Sungai Putat and Jalan Ayer Keroh Lama before reaching MITC.
He also noted that the bus fare from Malacca Sentral to Bukit Katil is RM1 and RM2 is charged from the same departure to MITC, both for one-way travel.
PM Cultural & Tourism Sdn Bhd (PMCT)s Operation Manager Ab Wahid Ab Majid said the company currently manages two double-decker and eight single-decker panorama buses including the three that have just been added to the line-up.
He said the new routes to MITC would take approximately 30 minutes to an hour to cover depending on traffic condition and stops.
“The buses are operational daily from 6.30am to 10pm and can take up to about 70 passengers at a time with seating capacity of 44 and 30 standing,” he said when met after a bus tour was given to the guests and media members at MITC recently.
