Welcome to my thread friend,

Firstly, I'm not trying to be rude, but I will not take requests, nor collaborate.
I simply wanted to create a page to allow others the chance to build my models, as so many of you have done (which I have enjoyed greatly).

The majority of my models will be from New York City; But I may do some from Boston, Baltimore, Wilmington or Philly being that those are the cities that have personal meaning to me.

I only have Paint to work with, so these models will not be anywhere near the detail of many models on here, but I've done one thus far and I admit I am quite proud of it!

Please don't expect a new model every day, week, maybe even month... I am a college student with 35 hour work weeks and spend a considerable amount of time building your models, so when one of mine pops up, please don't hound me for another and just enjoy what I can do. I wouldn't have spent time creating this thread if I didn't want others to enjoy my models.

I have not tried to use Rei's scale yet, I may in the future but I'm just eying the buildings for now.

Lastly, I can build a computer from scratch, but I have no idea how to do certain things like posting pictures in posts (or make a damn avatar for my account), so until I figure that out, I'm just going to post links to the models on my photobucket account.

Without further hesitation my first model is the Ramada Renaissance Hotel in Times Square. I just realized I never included a base for the model since I have a sheet of sidewalk looking terrain that I just cut off pieces for most bases. If you feel inclined to make a base for it, or modify it in any way please feel free (this model and any future models). Please just post what you do, as I would love to see your creativity!

welcome to the forum and great new models and the way to post pics are copy the url of your pic and find the icon on the message box
that looks like mountains and paste the url there

Hi CNTower! Thank you for the greetings!

I assumed the mountain looking picture allows us to post pictures on the page, however I don't know where to find a url for the image. Is that from online, or can I get it from my pictures folder on my computer?

CNTower246810
August 23rd, 2010, 02:37 AM
well you have to upload the pic on what ever you upload it on and right click it and then click properties and copy url (adress) and then paste it on the mountain looking thing well click it first then paste it

I've never done this before, took me a couple tries, I couldn't find anything that said properties when I right clicked the image. I'll try to remember what to do for future posts haha. I also tried to delete the blank post, no luck though.

you cant delete post only mods can and the properties should have been at the very bottom when you right click

Thank you for the heads up! I did end up finding the [IMG] link, I had to get it by viewing the image from the album instead of the image directly. I actually got a URL from going into the image info, but when i posted it that is what caused the blank post. Either way its all good now! Thank you again!

WOW!!!!! I LOVE IT!!!!! One question though, are your models at 1:1700 scale?

Hanzie
August 23rd, 2010, 03:24 AM
Thank you, I'm glad you like it! Like I said in my first post though, I'm pretty much eying my models, so its not an exact science. I'm not going to call it 1/1700 scale, but i found that when i printed it at 65% using page set up in Microsoft Paint, it comes out to scale compared to my other models, all of which I print at 75% to make sure they fit entirely on a piece of paper. I'm not going to modify what I have now or anytime soon to make sure it absolutely is 1/1700, but if you feel inclined to by all means go right ahead.

skyscraperlover9595

Use this:
http://a.imageshack.us/img34/3927/400mmark.png
Just drag it into MS Paint, go to skyscraperpage.com, choose the building you want, and draw it to scale. That's how I do it. :)

Hanzie
August 23rd, 2010, 03:36 AM
Thank you, I do have Rei's scale already saved to my models file, like I said though, I have no plans to mess with making it completely accurate for the time being though. I'm going to leave that to anyone who truly desires a 1/1700 model :colgate:

I know you are not taking requests, but I just wanted to give you a suggestion. Maybe the Bell Atlantic Tower in Philly. Like I said you don't have to make this one. Oh and just to let you know, I am totally building 2 Times Square tomorrow. Oh and if its not to much, could you visit my website, and tell me what you think?

Amazing job, Hanzie! Congrats & Welcome to our forum!
I only have Paint to work with, so these models will not be anywhere near the detail of many models on here, but I've done one thus far and I admit I am quite proud of it!
Look at my models - they are created with Paint too. So you too can make detailed model. True my models created in larger scale.

Hanzie everyone here uses Paint too and their models come out as detail as the ones you have seen!!!!!! That means you can make them the way we do!!!

Hanzie

Thank you all for the kind words!

I had no idea that all these incredibly detailed models were made with paint, that's extremely impressive!

Bell Atlantic Tower would be cool to make, however, I'm still kind of in the box stage at the moment, and while I'm sure I could pull it off, I'd rather save it until I'm more experienced doing this.

I have started a second one, which I'd like to get done before classes begin. I am using the scale so I guess this will be the first legit model of mine haha. All I'm saying is that its in NYC, and its extremely tall for how skinny it is, which narrows it down to one of two really haha

Also started saving in PNG, however Ramada might be blurry in parts (especially the billboards) because I had a little trouble finding unobscured views of the billboards dead ahead. Having thought on it a while I probably will redo the model at some point, I've even thought about just making the frames of the screens and such and having a blank spot where anyone could put whatever they like.

785 8th Ave.

In 1/1700th scale

http://i963.photobucket.com/albums/ae114/hanzie8806/7858thAve.png

I'm just fascinated by how skinny this tower is (about 8m) and how tall it is (172.5m!)

The folding tabs are very small on this, if I could have made them bigger I would have, regardless, I'm sure this won't be a problem for any of you. And for your reference, the finished product...

http://i963.photobucket.com/albums/ae114/hanzie8806/7858thavepic.jpg

note: (the slim long piece on the front goes on an angle, and you can see the roof of the Brazilian grill is double layered on the back, I accidentally made it too long and just wanted it to look like it had an edge instead of abruptly stopping. This issue has been fixed on the finished product and shouldn't give you any trouble. I did not fix the roof of 785 itself to exactly where you should fold it, but I'm sure you can just fold it when you're assembling it.)

Good guess Skyscrapers144! hahaha, that picture is about 6 years old, a couple of friends from high school and we had a party, and for some reason we decided to stick q-tips up our noses and take a picture... it just makes me crack up every time.

I had been designing more low rise buildings next to 785, but i gave it a rest for today and just spent time building more models.

New model tonight. First the bad news: it's not the entire block 785 is on, I actually got fairly far on that and it got deleted somehow, I don't think I shall return to it either. It was a lot of work and just hurt my feelings when I realized it was gone. But Ive stuck with low rise for this, and probably the next couple too. The good news: I've still created a full block. Everything is the same on the block (they differ in color) however, I think you'll like it. Once i print it out and construct it I will post it. Btw, they aren't actual buildings, but they are inspired by some.

Hanzie
August 30th, 2010, 07:34 AM
I did see your picture, and I really like it! You have quite the collection! And as for the buildings i had done on that block, it is a shame, but if they hadn't been destroyed I probably wouldn't have had the inspiration to do what I have done. Sure its no where near as diverse as the block, but every good city needs some upper class row homes! haha, they're tiny little buggers which is why its been over an hour and I still have only half of them built. I'm taking a small break now, ill probably finish them up in a few, but I wont keep you all waiting...

http://i963.photobucket.com/albums/ae114/hanzie8806/RowHomesmodel.png

They're nothing special, I designed them in about an hour and a half tonight, but what city would be complete without? hahaha, they don't look too bad either, and if you go into paint, you can make them any color combo you can think of! I think I'll probably work on some more low rise stuff tomorrow too, maybe get some small shops in.
I'll post some pics of my city in a few... Out for now.

WiGgLz01
August 30th, 2010, 08:01 AM
This is revolutionary. Now that I am taking a break for a while with my city I will start on a true city using these. Then when my collection returns I am going to put the buildings in and have these apartments in between. Perfect idea:)

Times Square Tower, there is only one thing i couldn't get right on this, the wall with the tab for the triangular section on the roof is too long by about a cm, but its easily folded. Other than that its tough to get giant billboard pictures to turn up clear at such a tiny scale, so hopefully it doesn't look too bad. I'm completely happy with it though.

Circular structure complete... it wasn't too square and took longer than I thought it would. Its more detailed structurally than anything else Ive ever done before, which could either be a great thing, or it may make it too difficult, either way its going to be a lot of tiny tiny pieces. I'm going to start work on the "tomb stone" now bwahahahaha

Is it Madison Square Garden?

Hanzie
September 7th, 2010, 10:17 AM
Gents, I do believe this is my masterpiece. I have put so many hours into this in the past 4 days that aside from school work sleep and eating, this is pretty much what I've dedicated all my time to. I give you Madison Square Garden and Two Penn Plaza. I have not the energy to assemble this right now having just completed it and it being 4am. This might be one of those models that takes a good few hours to build, and I just need sleep, but I said Tuesday, and it most certainly is Tuesday.

http://i963.photobucket.com/albums/ae114/hanzie8806/MadisonSquareGarden.png

http://i963.photobucket.com/albums/ae114/hanzie8806/TwoPennPlaza.png

Being that I haven't built it yet, I do not know what the faults are, so build at your own risk. You'll note that there are certain pieces that are just copies of whats on the roofs, they aren't necessary, but I use heavy grain paper and Ive done this to layer parts that are just too thin to make a box with.

Regardless, it should look awesome in your city, especially right next to One Penn Plaza. Can't recall who made that model, but it is an awesome one!

As I said a while back, I'd post pictures of my city... This does not contain the most recent buildings I've put together (this was right after the row homes).

Ausie, I'm very sorry, I had no idea you and Lions were building this. I actually chose to do this simply because I had got a good bit into 425 5th ave and then saw that Skyscraperlover9595 was building it. I'd still like to see what the two of you create if you choose to continue work on it, because this is no reason what so ever to halt work. There's no wrong in multiple interpretations :)
Ausie, despite the frustration, which I can easily understand because this project kicked my @$$, thank you for the kind words! I really appreciate it!

Skyscraperlover9595, thank you for making me lol first thing I woke up when I saw that first post hahaha! And thank you for the kind words on my city! I try to make it as clean looking as possible. Ive thought about redoing the spires on the Citic Plaza, simply because they're just way too thick, but other than that I'm completely happy with it. I think there are somewhere around 60-70 buildings there, a lot of them are unfortunately hidden because I layered them trying to make it look somewhat realistic. Well as realistic as a city so dense could look.

Thank you all very much! I'm glad you enjoyed MSG. Its been a hectic week (Halo Reach is way too addictive hahaha) and work school etc... I just started on a new model yesterday, not too far into it, but everything is measured out now and I just need to clad it. I'm giving NYC a break for the time, and Ill be working on some wicked Baaston stuff hahaha. So I don't go and make something others are working on, I probably should post what I'm building...

Definitely:
John Hancock Tower

Most likely:
Custom House Tower
Prudential Tower
Federal Reserve Bank
One and Two International Place

I might even try 111 Huntington Ave, I actually plan on it, but I'm going to do the others first because I know trying to do the crown and setbacks will be as frustrating as detailing MSG haha. I'll definitely be working solely on Boston for the time being though.

Philly is pretty much my home city (and I haven't done any Philly yet, but I plan to), Boston is like home away from home though, most of my living non immediate family lives there, so I felt I need to show a little B-town love. I'm thinking about doing night versions of everything I've done too. I might actually start by doing a night time Johnny Hancock along with the other 2 versions. I've had several ideas lately actually. One being that I'd like to do the Westin hotel LA... I would make the form of it, and do some cladding on it, but then for the shiny part, wrap it in aluminum foil, maybe draw on some mullions and floors with a black sharpie see how it turns out. Or if one had the patience of time, and maybe a string of lights from the dollar store or something, actually make buildings where you'd cut out certain windows designated, have a inner structure colored the same as the cladding that fit fairly close, and put the lights imbedded into a piece of cardboard, you'd have a base with a hole in it, and the building could sit on top, you could make roads, avenues, and you could turn it on and off, Its insanely detailed and would take a lot of effort, but it would be cool!

skyscraperlover9595
September 16th, 2010, 11:22 PM
Please post the Hancock Tower!

Hanzie
September 16th, 2010, 11:28 PM
I will, patience, I'm not finished it yet, Still have to finish the one with the clouds, add tabs, and make a base. Haven't started on the night one yet. I'm going to work on the Custom House Tower next. Depending on how the tower comes out, I'm thinking about doing Philly City Hall in the near future. I might do the Bell Atlantic Tower as requested, but if I do, that wont be for a few weeks, maybe months. That Boston list is whats coming first for now though.

Hanzie
September 16th, 2010, 11:49 PM
Glossy paper would be a good thing to invest in! Thank you Ausie! I do but the photo paper, its matte though. I like it because the buildings take much nicer form with heavier stock. I think the next time I get out that way, I'll pick some up.

Skyscraperlover, what all did you get to go see on your trip while in Boston? I remember the first time I went there I was up in Boston for my great grandmothers funeral. She died a week before my 16th birthday and for my birthday, my family took me into the heart of the city to go exploring, and our first stop was JHT. We went in, and my uncle had told me there was an observation deck. So we get there and we find that they permanently closed it after 9/11, so we just walked around Little Italy and Quincy Market. It was cool, but I was always disappointed I never got to go to the top of JHT.

Hanzie
September 17th, 2010, 02:09 AM
Alright, haven't started on a night version yet, but here's with clouds and without. These are actually modded from my original I just built a couple minutes ago, There was an issue with the low-rise portion, the base and the color. I had the mullions on my version as a darker blue, and when i printed it out, it still looked good but it was darker than I intended. So I fixed the low-rise, the base and the mullion color so it should come out without flaws and it'll be brighter. I think I'm going to hold on the night version now and just go straight into designing Custom House Tower.

Thank you so much Russian Sam! That means a lot to me to hear from you that my models are detailed! Your Oklahoma City is so detailed, it looks like the official city model that they would display in the Oklahoma state house! I can't wait to see Tulsa and Midland completed! Both are looking amazing thus far!

"Detailed" rock!

Hanzie
September 17th, 2010, 07:48 PM
Skyscraperlover that looks really good! I see you cheated with the roof of the garden though :D just kidding, those little tabs to hold the ring at the top up were infuriating to cut out haha. I actually cheated making the garden, its supposed to have 48 towers holding up that ring, if you count on my model though it only has 40. And I'll tell you, trying to glue all 40 of those little tabs to the ring was almost as troublesome as trying to cut them out! Looks excellent though!

Hanzie
September 17th, 2010, 07:57 PM
Detailed does rock! All of those little subtle details that you put on your models that some might not notice at first glance makes the buildings you've created that much more special! In a way, the details create authentication too! Most modelers will create as basic a roof as they can, I'm guilty of this, though its not a crime. Russian Sam, you add so much detail to the roofs! AC units, stairwell exits, ramps leading into parking garages... absolutely amazing!

Russian Sam
September 17th, 2010, 08:04 PM
Oh, If I do model on a larger scale, they would be more detailed than it is now, believe me. For example, I would add to the old buildings the fire stairs and lights with wires in the streets! EME (Excuse My English)

Thanks! Took me two hours.

Hanzie
September 18th, 2010, 07:21 AM
That would be absolutely amazing! You ought to do that with your favorite building ever, just completely detail every aspect of it, it would be phenominal! As for your english, you are very very well spoken sir! Your English is as good as anyone else on here, thats impressive! I find learning a foreign language to my own extremely difficult. I took Italian for 3 years of high school and I only remember a handful of words and a couple phrases.

Hanzie
September 18th, 2010, 07:24 AM
Skyscraperlover, that's awesome for only two hours! Ill tell you the single hardest part of designing the garden was the kind of archway over the connecting bridge that part of the garden structure itself, and the arranging of the cable lines on the roof. For some reason those were just the trouble pieces. I think I put around 30 hours of designing into it.

Wow! So what is your next model?

Hanzie
September 19th, 2010, 08:46 AM
I've been building Custom House Tower in Boston. Right now it actually looks really good, I'm trying to add as much detail to the tower as I can since its a smaller building apposed to what I've done in the past. Ive done some really cool effects with the windows and light. I also just converted it to a night time version too, both of which will be included in the final product, just like Hancock was with the plain and clouds. I also just realized yesterday before work that I spelled Hancock on the model with 2 k's hahaha, thats one of my finer moments trying to speak my own language hahaha

I'm quite proud of this one, It is kind of hard to see in the printed version, but there is so much detail in this model, well both haha. I've only built the day one but it looks amazing!

Thank you Ausie! I still plan to do a night version of John Hancock Tower, maybe the others too. However, my next project which is already underway is the Federal Reserve Bank in Boston, its the big H hahaha. Thank you Skyscrapers144! I shall post it in the Night thread for you. Thank you skyscraperlover9595! This is the building that seems to dominate the large historical section of Boston, I think that since this one turned out so well for a smaller more intricate one, I will be doing Philly City Hall in the near future! Thank you Russian Sam! That's an awesome rap! And talking to you about all the detail just made me think even harder about what I could do to detail this building even more! And, Thank you Lions_215! I'm really happy with the detail in it too! I love how small it is on the skyline, like it doesn't really impact my city a whole lot, but its like extra detail in the city, it adds even more variety. That's one of the things I really enjoy about early skyscrapers. They just have so much extra flair, so many intricacies.

Hanzie
September 23rd, 2010, 11:51 PM
Federal Reserve Bank is well underway! I currently have almost completed versions of both day and night for the main tower. I have a feeling the low rise at the base will be the more challenging aspect of this tower. I like doing the night versions a lot actually, and its very easy. I'm also thinking about potentially including historical landmarks, maybe like one with every Boston skyscraper I do. They'd just be like a bonus building kind of like how Puzz 3-d included the smaller landmark with their skyscrapers like the ESB with the Met Life tower, Chrystler with the Radiator building, I wish they still made those, I miss them a lot! I think I have damn near every one of those except for Taipei 101. I'm going to keep which ones I'm doing under wraps though, its all going to be pretty tiny stuff, but I have said in the past I wanted to do more low rise. All of these will be from Boston too.

This building is the most detailed I believe I have ever made to date. It is about 99.9 percent accurate, except for a tiny parking garage protrusion on the back of the building, this thing is awesome looking, and I haven't even started work on the tower!

I plan on releasing Faneuil Hall in the near future, which model its with though will be a mystery though. I'm still in the process of converting FRB to night, its probably 60% converted right now. I have also been working on I.M Pei's American International Building in Wilmington, DE the past couple days as just a small side project. At a whopping 86m, its the second tallest building in the state hahaha. I might do the 100.6m Chase Center located diagonally across the street as well, hell, might just make a model of the complete intersection. I've also been eying some Philly buildings for the near future as well.

I'm really considering doing One and Two International Place for my next Boston one, I'm still planning on putting my Faneuil Hall with one of the next couple Boston models. One of the other Boston buildings I've been thinking of doing is the Prudential Tower. Heck, maybe I'll just take a week or so and make them all for the same release. Give me a week to a week and a half, and I'll release the 2 tallest in Delawhere? in the mean time. Philly really has me thinking of doing the Murano, and the Residences at the Ritz-Carlton, and the St. James. Might hold out a little longer on that City Hall. I'd like to do Donald Schaefer Building in Baltimore too!

I'm almost finished converting FRB, I'll post it when I wake up in the morning. Pei's American International looks awesome completed! I'm holding out to post it until I've finished Chase Manhattan Center across the street, which is looking really awesome itself at the moment! I'll be doing most of the prominent buildings in Wilmington at some point. I'm thinking I'll just make a list, and after completing the rest of what I'd like to accomplish with Boston, I'll just start eating away at that list at random. So...

Boston:
One International Place

Two International Place

Prudential Tower

111 Huntington Ave

First National Bank

Philadelphia:
Murano

Residences at the Ritz-Carlton

St James

Philly City Hall (this ones going to include a special bonus building, can you say yo Adrian? haha)

Baltimore:
Donald Schaefer Building

Wilmington:
American International

Chase Manhattan

WSFS Building

Wilmington Trust HQ

Brandywine Building

And the way I work, sporadically, I'm liable to add even more buildings as they become interesting to me. So theirs your uncompleted official list. The bonus buildings that I have planned will be completely spontaneous (aside from whats already planned) and I shall not reveal any details. Though, if they're not in the same city as the main building, they will be directly related in some way to that building.

I love the Murano too! I already have the list of bonus buildings too, one of which will have 2 and several of which are in clusters together. Each will have a night version as well, so counting day and night versions as different buildings, I'm currently looking at 46 buildings. Possibly 48 if I do the Borgata complex in Atlantic City. For now I think I'll work on finishing Boston up.

I underestimated Chase Manhattan Center... I finish up the front and sides (each has several hours in it making it look as realistic as I can). Then, I got a picture of the back... several one story setbacks (about 8 pixels per story) angles and all. It'll take me the week before I get on track with Boston.

October 11th, 2010, 11:38 PM
I still haven't finished Chase Manhattan Center yet, Its so monotonous that I had to give it a break for a while. I'm still planning to release it and American International, which has both day and night versions completely done atm, I just need to satisfy my hunger for something a bit more out of the box right now. Its actually almost completed, but I'm not saying what it is until its posted. You know what I do for windows making the colors ascend and descend? There's that, but the walls do that too... I hope it looks as cool as I think it will when I finish it. I might post American International tonight by itself though and just come up with a plate to link the towers bases once CMC is complete. I think I'll do that... American International sometime after 1045. Both versions.

I hate to disappoint but its the one in Wilmington, DE as I've stated before. It is kind of unique though in its own way, and the wide windows on it are reminiscent of Federal Reserve Bank Building. If the general consensus is disappointment though I'll wait to release it.

Middle one, the left one looks a little too modern as you said and the right looks too bland, middle looks excellent

Hanzie
October 13th, 2010, 01:01 AM
Thank you for the insight. I like the way the middle one looks best too. I May do nothing with the windows for that one, just plain black and I think it will look about as accurate as I can get it being that I barely have any good quality pictures to work from (please if you choose to post pics, it would be best to post a link to them than them directly on the page since my computer has been having a lot of problems with loading pics I haven't uploaded lately). I've actually almost finished the diagrams for the left one (the ultra modern one, I was just really curious to see if I could get it modernized and see if I could still retain a sense of the building's architectural essence. What I've come up with is interesting to say the least hahaha, but I think its unique. I've figured out how to kind of bypass the impossible (or seemed impossible) setbacks. Ive measured out a base tower, two actually, which will then have the cladding and detail wrapped around them. I warn, this will probably only get the effect if your using heavy paper, which I suggest using anyway. If we simplify the way that we think about constructing the tower, the construction including the piece cutting becomes simplified and its quite easy. I'm about to test my fantasy building out and the inner towers for AI. I'll keep you all posted. But for now enjoy the pretty colors hahaha

Hanzie
October 13th, 2010, 04:37 AM
Thank you! I realize the name is corny as anything but that's what the cladding made me think of haha. It is compact for a casino, but I tried to think of what an architect might come up with if they had a plot of land in a city as dense as NYC and were told to come up with something, so that's the inspiration for it, that and I wanted to do something colorful haha.

Hanzie
October 13th, 2010, 09:12 PM
hahaha, I'd like to think that mixing colors is what I do best. I really like how the entrances turned out! I might try to do an expansion using that pattern, like a shorter tower, maybe skinny and super wide like the Vegas ones! I think I just have Vegas on the brain though, I'm so extremely stoked for Fallout New Vegas to come out next week! I feel like that anticipation is just showing in everything I do haha.

American International Building has been extremely successful in all the tests thus far. I also wanted to post that I've chose the bonus building(s) to go with it. I will tell you that one is a shorter building that radiates art-deco just like American International. The other if I do 2, is a taller addition to an otherwise predominantly low rise area.

Hanzie
October 19th, 2010, 06:46 AM
The thing is, basically I wanted to show you all how complex it will be, but that's only the majority of the lower set backs and the main tower rise for the front and back. That doesn't even include any of the towers sides nor any of the crown! You all may find this upsetting, but Fallout New Vegas just released 45 minutes ago, and of course I was there for the midnight release, so that's tempting me. Additionally Wednesday is my school day and I haven't yet started any of the homework quizzes or studied for the test. I'll post more by weeks end but its going to slow down a little more again. Don't worry though, lots of progress has been made.

Hanzie
October 19th, 2010, 06:51 AM
And, to let you all know how serious I am about making this building the right way and look good, I have never before made a test model that doesn't even include all the pieces before using my good paper. I want to make sure that the final product comes out perfect, so I'll be posting a pic of the test all put together for you once I get that done hopefully tonight sometime.

Hanzie
October 19th, 2010, 08:53 AM
http://i963.photobucket.com/albums/ae114/hanzie8806/unfinished%20backup/000000000000000000.png

The test has been completely successful in that I can see where I need to layer the paper more, and that I have all of my measurements thus far correct or just about. The only part I fudged up on building it was the 6th tier on the east side, I glued it to the main shaft where as I should have glued it to the 5th tier, but I've devised a plan to fix that already.

Hanzie
October 19th, 2010, 08:56 AM
I also wanted to note that while this one doesn't look near as good as the final product will be (I was hesitant to post a pic because the test does look a mess (but that's why its a test haha))... this sucker could double as a paper weight its so heavy and dense.
