This project was not built by the original developer, but was purchased last year by one of the largest high rise developers in the U.S. The project was recently added to their website:

Lets hope that this project is resurrected together with Brickell City Center. Hopefully someone also buys the lot east, where Beacon was planned, and develops it. If done right, the intersection of 8st and Miami Ave could become really dense. :)

What impresses me about this is how strong interest is in the continued development of Miami. We won't see a lot of projects proposed and approved during the so-called "boom" because there were too many to begin with, but there is no telling what all else we might see in the next 5-10 years.

Quantum: I think Brickell will be one of the first so see construction start again once this whole mess is sorted out.

The great thing about the boom is it created the critical mass of residents and retail necessary to make the area a viable neighborhood. Brickell was so far behind 10 years ago, that a handful of towers would not have been enough to reach a critical mass - the boom has brought many important pieces to Brickell that have made it very attractive. Bars / restaurants, employment, the best transit system in the entire state, tons of residents, mega attractions, and so much more. Love it! :]

I also think the magnitude of the boom created a kind of inertia whereby we will see continued development at a more sane pace. Miami is the crossroads between Europe and the Americas and is now an important world hub.

This was one of my favorite proposals -- sharp lines.

And it was approved early on when the market was still strong. I'm guessing the location killed it because it is more inland.

Still, that is what Miami needs. We cant have all the scrapers along Biscayne/Brickell Blvd.
