The Museum of Modern Art was established in 2009. It occupies 2 floors of a mdoern reidential building at 5, Safarov Yusif street. The Museum of Modern Art has an ultra-modern design which was made by an artist Altay Sadikhzadeh. The museum featured some 1000 avant-garde works and sculptures by Azerbaijani artists such as Sattar Bahlulzade, Boyukagha Mirzazade, Elmira Shahtakhtinskaya, Tahir Salahov, Omar Eldarov, Fazil Aliyev and Nadir Abdurrahmanov etc as well as world-famous artists like Picasso and Salvador Dali.
The museum has several art cafes and a restaurant operating in the building.

btw the Museum of Modern Art would join a 2011 European art contest which will involve museums from 47 countries.

My dad's cousin Fazil Aliyev was a modern artist. Some of his works are also exhibited in the Museum of Modern Art. I could see them when I visited the museum.

I strongly recommend this place to every visitor to Baku. I could say this is the best place in Baku. I like it very much. Only I do not understand why they established this museum in a residential building. But according the art – it is marvelous. I was astonished of the achievement of Azerbaijanis artists. Very good idea is to have café inside the museum. I was sitting at the café surrounded by such beauty, perfect feeling. Such harmony. Congratulations for the curators!!! One of the best museums of modern art I have visited around the world.

Sorry to say, but I think some of the pics above are not from the Museum of modern art but from National gallery (which is in fact also nice).
