Just thought I'd share. I will contact the Parks Department and Hillsborough County. I really think we need it. We always are saying why can't this or that be played here, or why this convention wont attend. The city really looks dirty on the interstates especially Fletcher to 275.

The City of Tampa might be adding landscaping to the Interstate in the Seminole Heights portion (Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. north to Hillsborough Avenue). The portion of the Interstate from Interstate 4 north to Fowler Avenue (the Tampa city limits) was originally landscaped by the City in the early 1990’s, but the City did not renew their landscape maintenance memorandum of agreement which expired over 5 years ago.

We haven’t received any inquiry from the City or news of any civic group contacting the City to relay interest in upgrading the interstate landscaping from Yukon up to Fletcher. You may want contact Tampa Parks and Recreation as well as Hillsborough County to request that they design, construct and maintain an interstate landscape project within their jurisdictions. There may be funding authorized to support such a project within any of the next three years.

Hello. I would like to know if in the future there will be any improvement to the 275 landscaping from the I-4 interchange to Fletcher. It always looks overgrown or none at all and this is the first thing people see when coming into Tampa from the north. It makes a bad impression in my opinion. Hillsborough and 275 are real bad in the jug handles.Thank-you for your time.

Hate to say it like this but you would have to landscape so you can't see much from I-275. Tampa in general looks dirty as do other cities in the bay area but Tampa probably the worst.

There's no good reason for Tampa to look as crappy as it does. People here just live with it and are used to the dismal views. I have made coments on the site many times before. Orlando looks a million times better in the same climate. Tampa can look better, even great.... I've heard the blah, blah, blah talk about Orlando being a tourist area. Metro Orlando just "gets it" they understand that it helps create a more livable city. People here don't care or at least, not enough care. They don't see value in beautification and streetscaping. I think it can definately contribute to the ecomonic engine. More people need to petition the city and county.

Unfortunately we got a lot of people in this area that considers it a waste and something "Liberal". :ohno:

Well at least the looks can match the third world infrastructure we have.

What I don't understand is not so much the landscaping (or lack there of), but rather the lack of streetlighting between Yukon & Bearss recently. FDOT removed several streetlights from the median barrier and they have not been replaced.

I would love it if the county would landscape the interstate with a double tracked light rail line. ;)

Maybe if we asked for some federal funding, we could get them done sooner. We need them now, not 25 years from now.
