In the valley of the river port of Gruza, at the top veteran rubble, lay the remains of medieval fortifications Champion. Parish of the same name existed as early as the thirteenth century, while the city experienced the biggest rise in the time of Despot Stefan Lazarevic. Fortified base is adapted to steep and rocky terrain, so the approach was possible only on the north side of the hill. Along the southern cliffs is the church attached archangel Michael, one-nave building with a cupola on the consoles, the narthex and porch added in the nineteenth century. The temple was built before the 1553rd when - according to the fresco inscription over the western portal - interior painted priests effort John, at the time of Bishop Macarius. Partially preserved hand painting gives zograf is clumsy in presenting the human figure, but in some svetiteljskih performance shows an unexpected talent, and a sophisticated modeling characters and airy color palette indicates the achievements of the Cretan school in the first half of the sixteenth century as their role models. Iconographic program is based on the tradition of painting from the era despot, as well as certain elements of architecture (frieze of blind arcades on the side facades) related to the architecture of the Morava school. South of the church, outside the yard, situated at the graveyard with many tombstones in the nineteenth century. Conservation works were carried out on the church 1968-1969, and the cemetery 1999th and 2005.

I love that place. My grand, grand father is from that place. I was there, and it is completely amazing and mysterious (in the middle of the plain rocky mountain rises).
