With more than 5,000 years of culture and tradition as well as its magnificent sports enthusiasm Egypt with its capital Cairo envisages hosting major sport events in the course of a medium to long term development strategy. Therefore, AS&P - Albert Speer & Partner GmbH together with ProProjekt, bureau for marketing abold and GRID from Cairo have been assigned by the Egypt Ministry of Tourism in close cooperation with the National Sports Council with a comprehensive analysis of the infrastructure in the Greater Cairo area with regard to the suitability for major sport events. The consulting services comprise a detailed assessment of the potential of venues, transport, accommodation, environment and finance as well as the development of a preliminary Master Plan and a communication strategy. The study will commence in August 2009, results are expected for April 2010.

I am not sure I never been to Cairo Stadium but do you guys see anything new in that picture?

okey guys bad news. Just go to google map. Find cairo stad. And turn mode to earth, use mouse wheel and drag to see 3D Moddel. Every thing in those renders already there they just going to put that tend and this is complete.

Well, most of the facilities have been there since the opening of the stadium. But they will be renovated. They are in need of a renovation eitherway.

Plus, Cairo had planned the worlds biggest Olympic park for our failed 2008 bid.

Is this different from the Olympic city being planned in new Cairo?

Ofcourse, everything is new!! Just checked google earth like you said, and yes, the buildings in the renders exist, but the buildings are old. The renders show a complete rennovation and facelift in all the facilities, you can even see the Cairo Expo City project in the rendes. Just look at the Cair Stadium renders, its going to change so much! Its a big facelift!

@the_egyptian before there was an article talking about an olympic thing in Cairo and it was approved if I'm not wrong. I thought it was the same. now I really hope it's not. I expect something new not just a renovation.

eitherway if it's not the same which I hope it's not, this was part of a competition, you wont just make a competition and give the winner $100,000 for the fun of it :lol: and parliament wise I don't see why this could be rejected.

Okey so it's just going to renovate the buildings. sounds good and the surrounding need renovation too. for Cairo Stadium Yea but if you looked closely it's just that flower shaped umbrella. which make the different imo. Let just hope it's not the same as the other Cairo Olympic city.

There is no text about beginning of CONSTRUCTION.
It is only a STUDY.
But pics look amazing !!!

there is different between under construction and approved. u/c means they building it, approved means they agree to build it and in the proses of preparation. like finding investors to fund the project, finding who's going to build it and other preparation works.

Abdoo, can you post your source for the project please? You didnt post a link in the opening message. I want to know more about this.

but, I am not very optimistic.

The Cairo Sporting Park already has a main stadium, an aquatics centre, a large indoor hall, a field hockey stadium, a large exhibition centre, and a tennis stadium. You know what I should add to the mix? A second large indoor hall, a velodrome, a BMX venue, a small gymnasium, and a 500+-room hotel.
