ABNeto September 4th, 2010, 04:52 AM omg, is it a brazilian invasion in australian forum? We don't have any thread about Australia at brazilian forum...
Well, I live here (Curitiba) and I like my city! The germanic/italian influence is notorious.
And Curitiba is not a queen, it's just a poor city, really! Despite being poor, we have a good urban planning and an efficient public transport system. It's a good city, a higher standard of living than Brazil, no doubt. BUT, we still have problems, of course, we are not in Australia, for instance. It is obvious we don't have lined streets, like SP.

So, that's all!
And I would like to know what australians think about Curitiba... And please, I know the brazilian reality, I know that my country have poor people, and I know the reality of my city. Curitiba is NOT the most luxurious, the richest, or the best city in... South Hemisphere. It is just a city around the world.

Really? haha. Thank you! :okay:
If you ask me, your city looks amazing. I would love to visit it one day.
What are you waiting for?
Curitiba is waiting for you! :D

I do like this place though.
Relax, man, it's obvious La Tour d'Argent spoke for himself.
The thread is not mine, but thanks.
Curitiba the queen of Southern Hemisphere.
No, Curitiba is NOT the queen of Southern Hemisphere. It belongs to Harare (Zimbabwe), the richest city ever.
Haven't you read it?
And Curitiba is not a queen, it's just a poor city, really! Despite being poor, we have a good urban planning and an efficient public transport system. It's a good city, a higher standard of living than Brazil, no doubt. BUT, we still have problems, of course, we are not in Australia, for instance. It is obvious we don't have lined streets, like SP.

So guys, I'm not Maria Theresa. Despite being a good city, Curitiba is not at the level of australian cities, it's so obvious... And we don't want to be queen. It's for Harare.
---------------------------------------------------
By the way, about Curitiba:
- Pop.: 1,8 million people
- HDI (year = 2000): 0,86
- Child mortality rate: 8/1000
- Illiteracy rate: 3,3%
- The climate is similar to Adelaide - but rainier than the australian city.
ABNeto September 4th, 2010, 07:55 PM Here are some threads showing the suburbs of Curitiba:

You don't work for the Immigration and not trying to attract Australians? :(

OMG! Tree-lined streets in Harare! ABNeto, I have reasons to suspect you're working for Mugabe and trying to attract Australians.
ABNeto September 4th, 2010, 09:49 PM ^^ No, I don't work for the Immigration... This is a job I can only dream of... Who works at this department here in Brazil are the richest people in Southern Hemisphere.
And I...oh, I live in a huuuuge slum, I'm really poor and, at this time, I'm hungry. I think I'm going to leave Brazil. I'll move to Harare and be happy there. At least in Harare there are tree-lined streets!
thewallpart6, you don't have reasons to suspect that. But you can be sure that when I arrive in Harare, I'll try to work for Immigration Department of Zimbabwe and attract some australians to the richest city ever, Harare. And Mr. Robert Mugabe will be my boss. In fact, he is a good person.
(Note: Immigrants in Curitiba? No!)

thewallpart6 September 5th, 2010, 02:16 PM ^^ No, I don't work for the Immigration...
No!)
That explains why MariaT likes huge houses. If I were as rich as her, I'd too. You don't have to move to Harare, you just need a gun and some friends with guns, then you will never be hungry again.

Thank you, JayT! :okay:
But I think australian cities are perfect as they are nowadays. I think Australian cities don't need density in its suburbs. Personally, I really don't like density - except at the financial area.

But I'm poor, I'm just one more miserable here in the third world. My life is too hard... my dream is to move to Harare. But to live in Harare is something I can only dream of. By the way, I'm still hungry.
Do I need guns and some friends with guns? Oh yesss... So, I think I'll become a drug trafficker. It's a good job, very popular here in Brazil. But I think it doesn't bring me money, because in Brazil it is veeery popular. And I don't want to be just "popular".
OMG, I have an idea! I will be an illegal immigrant in Cuba! Oh yeah, Cuba is my future!!!! Communism rocks!!! I will be rich and millionaire there! What do you think, is it the best choice? Does Havane has tree-lined streets? Or would be Harare better than Havane?

Havana is not too bad. People there drive cars half a century past their warranty. No personal computers. No internet. On the other hand, it has tree-lined streets and Fidel Castro.
You just have to make up your mind based on your preferred choice of sausage. Summer or coal?

Australia's broadband connections are really good. :okay: Here in my home (GVT, 10Mb), I can see all the photos of the first page - exception: the photos that have the problem called as "bandwith exceed". Can't you see the pics?
2 - why is the beginning of the thread in spanish?

Do I have to find the peakness??? :runaway: It's not for me, I'm a MACHO MAN³³³.
Are gays common in Australia? I found no gay during the two weeks I spent there.

hahahaha, I hate Havana. The capital of Cuba has tree-lined streets, of course, but I hate those old cars. I know you like Fidel Castro, but I think he is a shitty man.
And... now, I'm decided! It's not Harare. It's not Havana. It's not Sao Paulo, Rio or Kuala Lampur.
It's an australian city. What is THE BEST australian city? I confess it will be hard to leave my brand new apartment* here in Curitiba. But Australia calls me. I think it's easy to be rich in Australia, isn't it? In Brazil, it's very hard to become a millionaire, because I can't work at the Immigration Department and I'm not a MaryT' friend.

To find peakness, you really have to stand there. If you were to find no peakness, you probably stood there in 6.30 am in the morning. Gays are very common. It's not that many when you figure it out the apparent truth because mostly they are multies of one person, Deranged. I am deranged. He is deranged. He is me. We are deranged. You are not we.

Ballina is good. It has humourous resident, a world class soccer complex in nearby Lismore, a world class monument ie big prawn, etc.
With your addition, I think there will be just enough population to convince Myer, David Jones and Harvey Norman to open their shops there.
My suggestion for you to become rich in Aussieland is that you can try to sell snuggies (http://www.skyscrapercity.com/showthread.php?t=889920).

Sorry, but Gold Coast doesn´t even come close to Rio´s beauty, history, culture and fame.
By the way, it´s interesting how people from southern Brazil usually love a Rio bashing.
And if Brazil had a place similar to Gold Coast, that wouldn´t be Balneario Camboriu, but Recife.

Ok, MaryT.
In my opinion, Gold Coast is a magical city, a magical place. Rio is lovely too. Both cities are very interesting and I love both of them as equal. The natural bauty of Rio is unique. But for me, the Gold Coast is more interesting, simply. I know and I recognize Rio' qualities, although the problems are still numerous. I know Rio's beauty, history and culture are indescribable. But I think Rio has a lot of things to do before match to another touristic places around the world, like Paris, London or Gold Coast. At last, it's just my opinion. I like to surf. I like GC and I like Aussie. It's not hard to understand my point.
By the way, it´s interesting how people from southern Brazil usually love a Rio bashing.
Nothing to do!!! But it's a quite interesting how people that are not from Southern Brazil love to repeat this lie. By the way, who put Rio in the conversation was you.
And if Brazil had a place similar to Gold Coast, that wouldn´t be Balneario Camboriu, but Recife.
In your opinion, Recife. In my opinion, Balneário Camboriú.

here in your home where? Is there GVT in Australia?
anyway, yes, I can see the pics, I also have a 10mb GVT. But remember too many pics on the same page cause other problems besides pics not loading... they cause MAJOR SLOWDOWNS in computers without offboard videocards, because onboard videocards share memory with the computer´s RAM, and they usually dont get much RAM for themselves and the RAM is slower than a videocard specific memory.
but I was only half joking at the quantity of photos.
ABNeto September 9th, 2010, 02:52 AM ^^ hahaha, ok.

Ballina is not cold, yet. It will be once the whole city is sunk. The new Ballina Bypass has resulted in reduced motor traffic in Ballina. No cars, no global warming and hence ice age.

Hopefully, the global warming is over (at least here in Curitiba). I heard say that Australia is never sunny anymore (beacause of the hole in the ozone layer). I am at a loss as to the meaning of 'peakness' as well. Maybe it's some nerdy university expression, a bit like how the word 'fail' is now firmly embedded in teen and student culture and as such is used completely out out of correct grammatical context.
ABNeto September 15th, 2010, 01:45 AM ^^ Yes, maybe, it really makes sense.
The teen vocabulary is very flexible... :D
The fact is that I didn't find any meaning for "peakness". And so, I can't understand the conversation... :D

Lijman September 25th, 2010, 09:06 AM Ballina is not cold, yet. It will be once the whole city is sunk. The new Ballina Bypass has resulted in reduced motor traffic in Ballina. No cars, no global warming and hence ice age.
The Ballina Bypass isn't open yet. :ohno:
Once it is then Ballina will rise up a little due to there being less weight on the town due to fewer motor vehicles on it.
This is proven.

maybe insted of trying to run a place down , you actually spend time here and see the real Ballina, not the flashy, crass goldcoast-esq city you have been fed on TV and in the gutter press.
I cycle every day in my community, my kids walk and skate to school and I can get by foot from my community to the next one so dont see your point.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHA!!!! YURIIIII!!!!!!!!!!!!!
:lol::lol:
I'm an angel on Brazilian forum... At least our group from Paraná (and from Southern Brazil, generally) is excellent!
So, I made this video last year, when I was in 2nd grade. It's a work of English, and it consists of forming groups of 8 students. Then, each group chooses any song (in English) to make a clip. After the choice, they shot the video and voila! I would say the work is for recration... And it's organized between all the second grades of my school (Positivo, the largest private educational conglomerate in Latin America, headquartered in Curitiba :D). And the project closure occurs at the "Teatro Positivo" (theater), in a mega event, with prizes and everything else... It's very interesting!
If you want to know more, see these videos below:
Mambo Number Five (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-vusGl5Lz9g) - I study with all the girls of this video. :D
Never gonna give you up (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zicJsZULfSg&feature=related) - GREAT!
I love rock n' roll (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GmJmQU_0PJU&feature=related) - EXCELLENT!
The Buggles (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tk4XQHObJpE&feature=more_related) - SPETACULAR!!!! The part between 2:25 and 3:05 is AMAZING, you need to see! Fantastic!
And these videos below shows the most popular type of people you can find in Positivo: clueless and preppies...
Outta my heat (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3CadkkZfMME&feature=related)
Shut up and let me go (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L1qWSwetUsU&feature=more_related)
Ohh, and I'm the face-black man in the video... (shame... :D)
About Curitiba, let me say something about the inhabitants: they are the most obnoxious people in the coutry. Nobody likes them...
Just kidding... don't get angry...
HAHAHA!
Yuri, I honestly hope you find a pretty curitiban girl and fall in love with her... Then you marry and move to Ecoville, and you'll live happilly ever after - in Curitiba, obviously. I'm praying for that, sure! By the way, the same history occurred with Beto Richa, correct? Fernanda Richa is curitiban, right? She is so lovely... the perfect woman to be the Brazilian first lady, with sure!
But if you think the curitibans are obnoxious, you need URGENTLY to know Irati, my hometown. :D Actually, I don't think curitibans are obnoxious... they are polite, simply. It's the mix between the germans an italians that gives meaning to the "curitiban way of life"... :D Only here in Curitiba we can see italians and germans living in perfect harmony. And more: Curitiba reminds me London a lot! (Just kidding, of course... :D).

Never???? hauhaua, baby... :lol::lol:
I think you should know SSC Brazil... It will be your paradise....
just kidding ;)
Just their cars and dining rooms.
Yes, the cars in Brazil are ridiculous.
The problem is the price. A popular car (to a medium citizen) in Brazil costs about U$ 15000. For this price, for instance, you can buy a car like this (http://www.blogmotorpress.com.br/gerson/wp-content/uploads/2009/05/pb3_2634_640x408.jpg) in the USA - in Brazil this car costs more than 50 thousand dollars. Here in my home is the same thing, my father payed about 60 thousand dollars for a car that in the USA costs less than 30 thousand! Moreover, there is also the medium-low average income in Brazil and the VERY HIGH tax rates.
Btw, it's interesting: although Curitiba has just 1,8 million people (the 7th biggest city in Brazil), the city is the second place in the country when we talk about luxury cars - the first one is SP. It's incredible because Curitiba wins including Rio, that has 9,5 million more people. See it (http://i660.photobucket.com/albums/uu322/Neto_Positivo/02/DSC05887.jpg), a house with cars here in my city - the house belongs to MaryT's boyfriend. Actually, the house belongs to a drug dealer... (now you can understand why Brazil is a violent country and why there is so much competition among the drug dealers for the "points of drug" - places at the perifery where the consume of drugs is very high. There is a huge quantity of money envolving drugs).
And about the dining rooms, it depends... In Brazil we have houses (http://images03.olx.com.br/ui/3/10/73/51510773_1.jpg) and houses (http://i660.photobucket.com/albums/uu322/Neto_Positivo/02/DSC05898.jpg). You choose which one you want to come into.
