Chiang mai, Phuket, Pattaya has best chance I think with lots of projects and ideas.

also cha-am and huahin looks nice I think but there is not much that will change there exept some hotels or condo's that might popup.

Chiang mai, phuket should build a monorail I think, that will give great benefits there.

Bangkok economical hub of whole Thailand

Chiang mai regional economical hub of the north and Phuket regional economical hub of the south ...... sounds good to me ;)

i think Korat or Khon Kaen also have a big potential to be developed. maybe after the new hi-speed train project is done. I think at least we should have one or two big cities in each region.
For the south, i kinda want it to be Hat Yai though. Phuket is more like a resort town so i don't wanna destroy the image of that.
and provinces around Bangkok need to be more developed in my opinion, so it will not be too crowded in Bangkok.
i think monorail would be a good idea for those cities. but since it's so expensive. maybe we should first start by improving bus services.

I'm still thinking that Bangkok should be the one to be developed first.

yeah Bangkok is very developed already , only need to clean up as kiku said, like those powerlines (put them underground and take away some of those rolex copy sellers in the middle of the city and build a chatuchak number 2 and also clean up some of those ugly shophouses around the city and reclad them repaint them or tear them down and build new stuff.

After all those new Highrise construction buildings are done (over 100) I think by that time Bangkok will be fully developed and by that time the subway has extended+ the new airport and high-speed train from downtown to airport is finished. I don't call that underdeveloped ;)

I think Bangkok should have more 200+ towers ,then the skyline will look better than ever. and should improve the air quailty by build more green area.

I would rather say that Bangkok is still developing. I hope that something is done to ease the terrible traffic jams, to hide the tons of powerlines, and to clean the water in the canals... really, you can perceive the smell from very far away.

It's a very nice city though. Let us be optimistic about the future.

Oh! one more thing: stray dogs should be removed from the streets! Some of them are really scary!

I agree with KIKU that Hat Yai should be develop to be as a hub of the Southern part instead of Phuket due to geographically and environmental reasons. We should keep phuket as tourist destination not too much big city. :)

IMO, being a developing country, Thailand has a lot of problems, both in aesthetic and attitudes. But hey, no country is perfect and the Thai ppl more than makes up for these problems. I wouldnt want to live in the cleanest and most beautiful country in the world if the people were mean and ugly. But the thais are some of the most wonderful ppl in the world. In general, They are easy-going and friendly. I love the way you smile at someone, and they will smile back. If you did that in America, they would think you were a weirdo.

Thailand's after all a land of smiles, a great place to visit, and a better place to live.

I couldn't agree more, no country in the world is perfect and Thailand is a great place in which to live. I think that all of us have just made some constructive criticisms and shared some ideas on how to make Thailand an even better country. Please do not take anybody's comments as being offensive.

Thailand's location in South East Asia is some what strategic. The Potential to become the hub for both Aviation and Business is nowhere better (except for Singapore which is a pass-way for those oceanliners).

The government is working hard on studying cases, I suppose.

So many foreigners (especially in Chiang Mai) were saying the same thing that they could not stand Bangkok at all. And in my opinion, I would say Bangkok is at the saturated level and is now ready for a huge renovation of all the systems including some really basic stuff that is one of the requirements (e.g. drinking tap water, underground powerlines, traffic cases)

Anyway, CHIANG MAI GOARS!

What's about the locals(in Chiang Mai)? I'm just wondering if they were happy about thier city now. (Chiang Mai should be called 'city' today)Foreigners come to Chaing Mai as tourists,it's good but living there as residents, just only my curiosity, nah.

I think Nakhon Ratchasima has pretty good chance of becoming developed.
Anywayz something should be done to stop people from Isan from emigration. The economy their is just too volatile. You gotta admit, their culture and lifestyle is different. Build a casino or two just for foreignors. I don't care.
