Some nice roads have popped up in Kurdistan Region. The state of the old roads is poor, and they have to be replaced with new quality roads.

The problem is that the trucks always overload by a couple tons, and that along with the hot conditions are bad for roads, I'v seen it with my own eyes when the roads are damaged by overloaded trucks in hot days.

wow slemani has changed so much i would definately get lost , im from there i left back in 1998 and it looks nothing like how i left it WOW .

we have the same problem here in Algeria because roads were not built right, for example a Boeing 747 can land easily on the German autobahn without damaging the road !

are these roads built by iraqi people ??
do you have highways between big iraqi cities ??

All of Iraq is interconnected by a series of 6 lane motorways, During the 1970s and 80s they were built by german companies. During the 1990s Iraq extended the motorway network using local resources. Today the roads/bridges are all built by local contractors.

Iraq's national road network is actually pretty good (since 2003, the americans did much to wreck it though, and little to repair), but its still in relatively good shape. Iraq's inner city roads however are a disaster and especially the older neighbourhoods in Baghdad and other cities haven't had resurfacing done in 50 years! Now new resurfacing in urban areas is taking place... messing things up a lot.

thanks get smart yeah these are the kurdish areas tho in the non kurdish areas the roads arent healthy at all due to the current war and even during saddams time he was too busy killing kurds and shias to care for roads .

2009 - The new 3rd outer ring is clearly visible (as well as the new giant airport runway), a ringway around the city is still under construction (its preserved for motorway standards)
