Completed in 1992, Central Park, the tallest office tower in Perth, is considered to be one of the finest modern landmark office towers in Australia. It comprises a 51 level office tower of approximately 66,500m² with on site tenant and public car parking for 1025 vehicles. The tip of the tower is 261.7 metres above sea level and 224 metres above the ground.
152-158 St George's Terrace is regarded as one of the pre-eminent business addresses in Australia and Central Park is located at the centre of St George's Terrace, in the heart of Perth's Central Business District.

7.5/10 - I like the series of triangular setbacks, which give the tower good height, and the facade isn't totally bad; there's a nice contrast between windows and spandrels.
I'm not sure, however, if I really like those beams connecting the setbacks to the tower, and I'm not crazy about that top, although it is at least consistent. And it might be nice if the facade caught the light a bit better, because it's a little bit bland as it is...
A commendable effort, though, to move beyond the box.

this tower makes Perth recognizable . . but i hate all these oz towers and their goofy pin needle spires to add a couple meters of height .. . good design overall though i like the alternating angles. . .8/10

I like the design of this tower very much except for the external plumbing pipes attached!...lol...makes it look a bit tacky but it looks good at night.....8/10.

ps: actually I like that building to the right of this one in the 5th. pic with the triangular top!!..what's the name of that!..help OZ forumers!

I agree with you about the "pipes" as well. I think they should have either gotten rid of them, or preferably filled them in, sort of like the Bank of China Tower. Same thing with the top - they should have concealed that cube thing. It does look nice at night. The horizontal stripes are so-so. 7.5/10

The immeditely above pic gives us a sense of its '226m to roof' height.

I've found it to generally have a rather 'majestic' look, but sometimes awkwardly bulky, especially around the lower floors.

Smooth ediface and polished look, but too "aluminiumy" (apt word). Very nice in panorama pics and/or when it has a bluish hue. The spindley bits or as Liz L refers to them as "spandrels"..... hmmm .... they tend to look more like hollow fillers rather than features.

I'm probably biased because I live in Perth and see this building all the time. . .but I like the cool aluminium and glass facade, the triangular setbacks give it a different look from different angles, and the framework at the top. . . 9/10

Nice shape, creative setbacks, not boxy looking, which is good.
I really like the colours, the grey seems to be almost colour corrected so it doesn't ever look brown.

10/10. The pics do no justice to the modernity and gloss of the appearance of this building. Lovely atrium too. I work in Central Park at the moment so am a bit biased!

I live in Perth and in terms of Perth it is a 10 but in terms of the world it is an 8 so I voted 8. I love everything about Central Park I can't really fault it it looks great especially at night :drool:

It looks nice but it doesn't have anything that interests me, apart form the two wing bits, but i don't like them.

7 A decent and distinctive building... the triangular setbacks are wonderful... but the connecting beams and the facade are ugly... the top is quite ugly too...

Doesn't need the tubes on the roofs at all.

I don't mind this tower, it probably looks pretty cool in person.

trust me the box is not ugly when your on the roof ill post my pics from on the roof when i get them, it doesnt catch the sun that much you dont get much of a reflection.

A very beautiful tower in my opinion: tall, slender, interesting geometry, nice clean facades with reflective aluminium / glass skins. Not to mention the beautiful landscaped park at the bottom where lots of people hang out at lunch time.

Tall and sorta shiny, but seems to be going a bit dull these days. Still, love this tower and a great part of Perth's skyline

the beams connecting the setbacks should hecka be removed, or even better, filled with more floor space.

Something about it makes it seem ackward and even cheap to me. Aside from the trusses or whatever they are, it is a very typical look.

7.5/10... Only because when built, its hieght was considered to be pretty impressive.

This reminds me a lot of the Bank of China tower... almost too much, to the point of seeming like an imitation. The difference is that the BoC seemed so much more graceful with the glass exterior. The white we see here has been overdone in cheap high-rises, which is not an association you want to have attached to a skyscraper.

I do, however, like the overall design and the effect it has on the skyline. It simply isn't as good as the building it resembles the most. The top, in particular, is a disappointment. An apex would have looked much better than the box.

I think I'm the only person here who likes the beams.

Nice color, decent facade. I like the geometry, especially the set backs, although it is a bit too bulky at the base. I never seem to notice the tubing, it doesnt seem to stand out. Nice.

Interesting geometry. I like the metal 'connecting' bits at the edges of the building - a very rare feature on skyscrapers.

It's a nice tall slim design, the colour is great too.

Actually, they were enclosed with glass in the original renderings. They were called "conservatories" and were to be used for special functions, according to the tenants' wishes. Later alterations to the design made the tower shorter, and just left the diagonal trusses.

The Bank of China was topped out in 1988 and opened in 1990, some 2 years before Central Park.

ive never really liked it that much. Bank West is a much better tower.
CP is to bland, and looksout of shape (And the metal bars/pipes are not doing the building any favours)

everytime i drive down the freeway and see the skyline and when i look up at the buildings i get goosebumps all over. I love this city, such a nice place to be. I could live in other magnificant cities aroun dthe world but i would always call this place my home! Perth is still a young city so there is more time for greater buildings! :)

An overall decent skyscraper, but even better because it's in Perth. I give it a 9/10. :D

i do like this one but if only the cross struts and spire that every one seems to disprove of were a much more dominate feature it would be great tower
still so sleek and impressive so get 8.5

A bit too robotic in my taste. I wouldn't like to have it in front of my window. But I can't say it's bad, the shape is original and it CAN look quite nice.

This is my fave in Australia. Maybe I am biased because its my home city but the building looks very unique. Its got a futuristic tinge to it and the aluminium and dark windows contrast well. I like the pipes on the side, looking like it is attaching the lower part to the main tower.

The top could do a bit better though, kinda looks like they ran out of steam when they go to the top.
