Haha.. I just couldn't contain my excitement. I'm getting financial assistance from my parents in return for them living with me for maybe another 2 years. I get along pretty well with them, though they can be over bearing, but they have pretty much lent me $40,000, on top of the state and federal first home owners grants, plus a $3000 cash back, chuck in my savings, and a healthy salary and approved loan, and ding! I have a house. Nothing fancy, but not a bad acheivement considering my social, financial and employment status merely 2 years ago, unemployed, kicked out of uni, dumped by girlfriend, kicked out of her house with a $9000 debt. And i'm only 22. Woot woot! ANd it's bike riding distance from work.

The foundations for the slab are now in place, but it was too rainy and dark for pics 7:30 in the morning!!

Pictures coming tonight! Sorry for the lack of them, I've taken a few, but I've been too lazy to hostthem! But I will tongiht. We also found out the reason for the slow progress. They began digging the foundations before the permit was approved! The submitted the permit, and began work expecting the permit would be approved as per schedule, but it was delayed for some reason, swo they had to stop. But a little birdy told me today that they started work again!

I was so impressed driving into the suburb, i could see the putzmeister towering above the houses. It's liket he tallest structure in the suburb! Go me!

And I still intend to post a rendering!! (I must not forget)

It's not really going to be all that impressive a house.. But it's all a young single hopeless bachelor like me can afford!

but i've bought some pencil pines and lights for the driveway.. Which should look regal!

i'm not that much of a fan of suburbia either, and i am kinda trapping myself in my job and in this town by doing this, But it's an oppurtunity to have a great house close to work, and as an investment, in case i feel like moving to inner city one day.. BUt the main advantage of suburbian living is I get to torture the neighbors with Black Metal!! When the parents bugger off, I'll be egg cartoning the garage into a nice little home studio! As well as a LAN room!

That's a real shame that this thread has been moved. I never would have made it if someone had done a similar thing before, and it is a contruction thread. But oh well, nevermind.

We've had further delays with construction, and the concrete slab is still sitting there baking on the sun. Apparently thwe builders are building another house nearby and will construct both wooden frames at the same time. They still assure me they will finish it by christmas, but I am becoming skeptical. But penalties do apply in the contract, if they take to long, but if they do take too long, it will be a terrible inconvenience.

Also, I still haven't posted a pic of the slab yet! Pics on the way!! My camera is still playing up. I think it has been dropped too many times. But still, why'd ya move the thread? ;_;

A good thin about the design is, I can come home from work, drive into garage, close grage door, get out of car, go through do, into house, and straight opposite the garage door to the house will be the door to my computerroom and bedroom.. so it's a quick dash accross the 1 meter hallway, and you'll never see me again until the next quick dash in the morning!

Yo!

I've been away for 8 days, went to Brissie and the GC! Got a 256MB card full of images!! WIll have to post some after work. But since arriving 11:30pm last night, and getting up 6am, and straight back to work, I haven't had a chance to look at the house. They are going extremely slow though! It's so annoying! It's due to a contractor shortage in the area. But in the next couple of days, I'll see if they have done anything and post some updates!

But it's even more frustrating than waiting for Eureka!!

PS: Q1, as you might know, is going up very very very fast. I couldn't beleive how much it already dominates the GC skyline. Incredible.. Will go and pay eureka a visit this weekend though. I feel like I've been cheating on it.. hehe

Ah, good to hear it is finally progressing well.

I put my deposit down in Feb, and the building permit has just come through this week. (4 months council planning permit didn't help)
So they can finally get on site.....wait a minute, christmas....no point going there until after christmas now (they say)..... :|

Yo yo!

Well, they have pushed back the date to late february. This is bad. We're stuck in a full house at the moment. The brickies just started today, and on wednesday, the builders go on their holidays, we had some leakage and stoprm damage, and we're having major issues with orginising trenching for Ncable, and even though I work for Broadband Activations in telstra, I can't find out if I can get ADSL there. Lake Gardens is all PGS, and the street is on optical rimm, but apparently there IS a minimux installed, yet NPAMS doesn't show it, but someone one my street has wholesale ADSL.. So who knows. Even if the house next to me had it, there's no telling if I can get it until I get my phone number! The reason i'm looking to ADSL instead of CABLE is because i get major ping issues at peak times, dropping from 30 ping to 400!!! So I'm sick of cable, so I want ADSL. Cable are transferring for free, so that's ok. But if I can get ADSL, bye bye ncable! The plastering is done, doors are in, wiring is done, central heating done, windows done, kitchen coming soon.. So it is moving along now, but just Way way too late. And I can't beleive how much rain we are getting! Storms constantly, it's like a tropical summer. Is the drought over? I think not, because with tropical summer comes warm DRY winter.. The earth is in trouble folks.

And also, I'll post a new thread for this, but me and 30 of my mates are having a LAN. If any of you guys LAN often, come down to ballarat!

No photos of house, because I dropped my camera into the ocean.. And also got second degree burns accross my entire back.

Hello all!!!

Long time no see! My house is nearly finished!! They expect to finish either friday or monday. We'll move in the next weekend. I'm very excited now. We have bought a new lounge sweet, dining setting, bar stools. But it has been a bumpy ride to geth this far. Various contractors demolished the Neighborhood Cable conduit, which had to be repaired three times. But cable internet is finally installed. Unfortunatel, still no pictures, because well, the camera, after falling into the ocean, has never worked again! But I'll try and get a picture of the finished product! It's been very busy lately, preparing to move, orginising loan payments, and all sorts of things. I'm way to immature for all this kind of thing. But i'm learning. I can't wait to get into the new house.
I'll find a camera somewhere and put up some pictures soon... =)
