Gadiri September 14th, 2010, 06:17 AM 2013 Africa Cup of Nations
From Wikipedia,
The 2013[1] Africa Cup of Nations will be the 29th Africa Cup of Nations, the football championship of Africa (CAF). It will be hosted by Libya.[2] Libya won the right to host the tournament after defeating a Nigerian bid along with three other bid winning nations, Angola, Gabon and Equatorial Guinea. Bids from Mozambique, Namibia, Zimbabwe and Senegal were rejected and did not reach the shortlist. For the first time in CAF history, the hosts of three successive tournaments were chosen at the same time; Angola was chosen to host in 2010, Gabon/Equatorial Guinea were chosen as hosts for the 2012 cup and Libya for the 2013 edition. Nigeria was chosen as a stand-by host in the event that one of the chosen nations were to become unsuitable. It will be the second time that Libya hosts the event, the previous time being in 1982.

These renderings was just newly presented on a Norwegian company's rendering slideshow. Tried to find more information about it, but that turned out to be very
hard. Hope that this thread will be worth a start. This project is designed by Thomas Phifer and Partners (http://www.tphifer.com/). MIR (http://mir.no/) is the company who have visualized these
renderings. Project dates year 2009.

Jim856796 September 17th, 2010, 05:01 AM ^^Tripoli's stadium should be a refurbishment.

I swear we're not mean . I'd love for SSC to have tons of posters from all over the continent. Libyans, you have to join!!
Is that sport complex being built for ACN??? Wow, that's going to set some serious benchmark! It's gorgeous.

Gadiri April 10th, 2011, 04:26 PM If thinghs are going worst, Nigeria will host ACN 2013.
Nigeria is the reserve country for ACN 2010, 2012 and 2013.
LADEN April 10th, 2011, 07:04 PM It sad but you gotta do what you gotta do. Nigeria must host if it gets worse.
Monapa May 15th, 2011, 11:56 AM Even if the war is over, I can not imagine people coming from all over Africa, next year, to assist to the tournament, in this country.
I suppose that this edition will be clearly cancelled, and not replaced.

Never going to happen.:ohno:
Snassni May 15th, 2011, 08:15 PM Has Nigeria said anything about hosting it?
LADEN May 15th, 2011, 08:31 PM They don't have time to build the stadiums now and people won't come with the political issues. Just move it to Nigeria so they can get focused and not swtiching at the last minute.

Why Nigeria ? even there, there's security problems
Matthias Offodile May 15th, 2011, 09:42 PM This won´t happen...thanks to the Western countries which decided to ruin Africa´s richest and socially most advanced country.
In Syria or Yemen they don´t throw bombs while it is OK in Libya.

I wouldn't call a state which kills people who demand democracy, to socially advanced at all. :ohno: (I wouldn't either call Libya rich.)
Western countries don't have time to run all over world. When war ends in Libya, they probably strike to Syria, if situation turns worse there.
Kifayat13 May 31st, 2011, 12:46 AM Why Nigeria ? even there, there's security problems
But there isn't a civil war.
LADEN June 14th, 2011, 05:13 AM The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has decided to move the 2013 African Cup of Nations due to security reasons, following the recent uprisings against Muammar Gaddafi.
“CAF have decided to move the tournament to another country because of the current instability in Libya,” an anonymous CAF official told CNN on Monday.
“South Africa have asked officially to host the tournament. Also, Egypt and other countries are interested in the matter. We will make our final decision before announcing the tournament’s qualification draw next September,” he added.
CAF recently moved the 2011 African Youth Championship, which was scheduled to be played in Libya, to South Africa for the same reason.
