you don't find a german town this size without a few ugly commie-blocks any more, and this why i love this place, because everything is so traditional!even the McDonalds branch doesn't destroy the townscape because it is in a traditional house :) !

Cute! I've actually been there... and one of the things that is quite noticeable about Rothenburg is the distinct LACK of skyscrapers. Again, if there were a separate category for historic (pre-1900?) skylines, Rothenburg would get a great score from me, just as San Gimignano in Tuscany and the center of Amsterdam and Prague. But since this forum is called SKYSCRAPER CITY I cannot give more than a 5, for pure touristic prettiness.

8/10, great place

3/10? 4/10? some of you damn shitheads don't really understand what "skyline" means? Does the word "skyline" have skyscrapers in it? Don't towers or cathedrals also make skylines?

A skyline is best described as the overall or partial view of a silhouette of a city's tall buildings and structures. It can also be described as the artificial horizon that a city's overall structure creates. Skylines serve as a kind of fingerprint of a city, as no two skylines are alike. Skylines that are stretched out to a large (sometimes panoramic) view because of large cities or twin cities are called cityscapes.

Visited Rothenburg last summer for the 2nd time and it was just amazing! Might be one of the most picturesque towns in Europe. Perhaps I'm going to post some impressions later on.

Come on, a skyline can be historic too. With lots of towers and spires. Skyscrapers are NOT a must!
I'll give it 9/10, because it's skyline is very unique, beautiful preserved and historic.

Well...than I wished every german city was old, flat and would look like trash compared to modern day Frankfurt. :)
