I agree. It looks much better than modern style of architecture in my opinion too. I'm sure this building will cost more to build but it will add more character to Skopje too.

Here is another 3d render of what this same building would have looked like if they had built it in the location they originally planned to (across the river from where it is being built now). It actually would have looked even better if it was this large but never mind, it still looks good.

Very true. Modern architecture (as well as being ugly), very quickly goes out of date. I look at buildings from a few decades ago and already they look like they need to be knocked down and replaced by something newer. But stuff like this will last forever. :cheers:

At least, how ill be inside and what artifacts will be housed there? What is the state of affairs with the current museum?

Well. It is a complex building. It is not just a museum.

In this building will be settled the Constitutional Court of RM, the Archive of RM and the Archaeological Museum of RM.

All the documents for the archive will be placed here, in the basement.

Most of the artifacts, documents found on Macedonian soil will be also placed here. They are placed in numerous museum around the country, but when the building is built they will be moved here. The biggest collection of archaeological artifacts are placed in the Museum of Skopje, and the Macedonian National Museum, and in warehouses, and as I said they will be there until the construction of this building finish.

The biggest collection of archaeological artifacts are placed in the Museum of Skopje, and the Macedonian National Museum, and in warehouses, and as I said they will be there until the construction of this building finish.
This is interesting. Macedonia has a good collection of archeological findings. The statue of Venus which was recently uncovered in Scupi is amazing, it will fit perfectly in the new museum.

It's a tiny picture but it gives a good view of how big this building is. And it will rise further still, with the domes and the roof in the middle.

I have to disagree with that statement... the eternal architecture of today was modern back in its days.. like the Secession style which was popular in the beginning of the previous century.. (back then it was avant-garde.. now it is archaic and awe inspiring).. ;) The modern emulation of an old style, on the other hand, should be very carefully approached.. otherwise it might turn into a grotesque piece of absurd architecture :nuts:

Modern architecture (last three decades for example) is a lot like modern cars. It dates and goes out of style. After just 20-30 years, many buildings either have to be modernized or destroyed, and replaced by whatever is currently in fashion.

Same with cars. Those from the 80's rarely turn into classics, whereas cars from the 60's and earlier can be sculptured pieces of art and have a timeless style.

Vidovme sto napravi od gradov eden vrven arhitekt Kenzo Tange, go unisti duhot na gradot so negovite odvratni objekti posebno so kulite na Gradski Zid, najdi mi glaven grad koji ima takvi odvratni zgradi vo centarot na gradot, a toa dali stranskite arhitektiti deneska ni se smeele ili ne voopsto mene licno ne me interesira, ionaka oni voglavnom proektiraat objekti koji niv im se dopagjaat a ic ne im e gajle sto mislime nie gragjanite za tie proekti, slicno ko sega so centarov na Skopje.
Mozes da vidis deka centarot na bilo koja metropola e sostaven od neoklasicni objekti a ne od nekoi staklarii, taka da ne mi smeta mnogu ovoj obid na nasive vlasti da forsiraat neoklasicizam vo centarot na gradov.
Nesakam da zvucam kako branitel na proektov no preku glava mi e veke so istata prikazna "da bese onaka ke bese podobro" prikazni za mali deca, jas poprvo bi rekol da bese bilo kako pak bi bilo zanikade zosto sekoj si ima svi zamisli za gradov.

TV duelite Bozinovski - Grcev stanaa vecito derbi vo koe Vangel uvek go dribla na Grcev.

Znaci nemoze da mi sporeduvate kenzo tange eden od najdobrite arhitekti vo svetot, i do den denesen najpocituvaniot arhitekt vo japonija, pa negovoto delo e edinstvenoto nesto sto mi se dopaga vo skopje, toj napravi osnoava kako da se razviva skopje no za zal nie ne ja pocituvame, skopje e moderen grad za zal na site vas i treba da prodolze da e takov, nemoze so sila da se vmetnuvaat neoklasisticki zgradi, mi vikate site metropoli vo centarot imaat takvi, pa tie metropoli od sekogas gi imale tie, napraveni vo svoe vreme, nemozeme da kroime arhitekturna istorija so sila...a za svetski ne velam mora da ima svetski no da imase internacionalen konkurs i otvoren forum so narodot normalno kade sto mozea legalno i makedonski arhitekti da ucestvuvaat veruvajte mnogu podobri rezultati ke imase od ova, a za izbor na vakov proekt treba da ima soodvetna komisija sto kaj nas ja nemase i protestite na studentite na arhitektura zavrsia trgicno gi politiziraa i niv normalno kako i se drugo a od AAM gi zakuteja, a kako sto vikate na vas vi e gajle sto vikaat drugite, po toa se poznava kolku otvoreni horizonti imate tocno poradi toa ke zaostaneme za sekogas da ne zboruvam kolku sme zaostanati vo arhitekturnoto podracje se sto znaeme e da se mavame vo gradi i da vikame nie si znaeme najdobro epa ne si znaeme najdobro toa e surovata realnost sto treba da ja prifatime site

Neoklasicizamot postoel vo Skopje, makar vo skromna zastapenost, dokaz za toa se Oficerskiot dom ,stariot teatar, Narodnata banka, ulica Makedonija, stara zeleznicka, ucitelska skola, itn. Posle katastrofalniot zemjotres kumunistite uspejaa da gi srusat povekjeto neoklasicni objekti koji uspejaa da go preziveat zemjotresot no ne uspejaa da go preziveat komunizmot.

Pa donekade si vo pravo, dokolku se setas pokraj Vardar vo centarot ako poglednes kon levata strana na Vardar ke vidis Turli tava, na mal prostor premnogu objekti so razlicni stilovi.
Inace moj omilen arhitektonski stil e Art deco, imase najava deka hotelot na plostad ke bil vo art deco stil no na renderot se gleda deka nema vrska.

Bravo za Skopje, vidi se dosta promjena.

I have some questions:

1. Is this building a reconstruction of some building that was in this place and was destroyed in time or is this creation of something new?

2. Is this architecture typical for Skopje or Macedonia?

3. Are there remains of ancient greek cities in Macedonia and in what state or condition are they?

I can try and answer some of your questions.

1. This building is brand new and not a re-construction. Some of the buildings in this project are (Old Theatre, Officers Dom building, the bank building) but this one is not.

2. The architecture is called Baroque, and it is a style that is used all across Europe. It is also a style that was used in Skopje previously.

3. Heraclea Lyncestis, locted in Bitola is an ancient Macedonian city.

Also Stobi, I believe. Although originally a town of Paeonia, it was conquered by Macedon, and later turned into the capital of the Roman province of Macedonia Salutaris. (quoting from wiki)

I think the ruins are Roman though.

The buildings are too close to one another.
In the left building they will never see the sun again.

I agree but, that's a feature quite common in many European cities it seems. It also makes the buildings look even bigger when they are so cramped together.

I must say I like the new skopje 2014 center. Although it looks like something from disney land and it was money poorly spent it still enhances the appearance of the city and gives it a characteristic. I also like antiquity style buildings as well.
