an hour ago i was again in that new jlt & marina area to have a closer look. it came into my mind that i've never been to the lakes, springs, meadows,... before. just one time to visit the sales center with my father who was thinking about buying a house there. but you can't imagine how much this area has grown since last winter. unbelievable!!!

trances, sa boy and all you dubai guys, go get there. this is a huge building site that you get the impression it will never end. wow!!!!!!

i took some photos down there. will post them later, as imagestation has problems at this time.

I live in The lakes and its the best place to be, very friendly and community orrientated, with great facilities.
All the oictures you have are from the public roads and around the back by the springs which are nearly completed. Try to get into an estate and you will be amazed at the place, so green and established

yes, i also think this is a nice place, especially when everything is finished. but there are some things i don't like: all houses look the same. they are too close to each other. the garden is very small. you look against a wall. windows are too small. for many europeans this not the best place to live, but the whole area is very nice, quiet and peaceful with it's lakes, trees and so on. :)

i myself can't imagine to live right in the middle of such a huge cluster.

the same about arabian ranches. it's the same concept, quite all houses are of the same design.

hello dubai-lover
i must admit on paper the whole development sounded like a Legoland-style disaster and even when we went to look at the place while it was being constructed we got the feeling all the houses looked very repetitive but when the place actually finished it looks very nice. give it a few more months (or maybe a year) when all the construction work has finished and all the greenery has been given time to grow and I bet you'll really like the area :)

can't say I care much for the Greens though, they look like council flats

in all major cities they have huge complexes of houses with the exact same design, i come from Toronto and all they are building is the same house x 1000

yes it reminds me of american suburbs, quite peaceful! btw: i have to say that the development is great. everywhere are plants and green, some lakes, very beautiful.

but as i've described:

all houses look the same. they are too close to each other. the garden is very small. you look against a wall. windows are too small. houses too close to each other. (= no real privacy)
for many europeans this not the best place to live

Once the entire complex is finnished and walled it will be great and very green and eco friendly. It will be an oasis in the desert with the golf course and lakes being the central theme. We are very happy there and woulent move anywhere else in Dubai

Hey SA Boy.
Since you live in the Lakes you mght have heard about this: do you know anything about the MAEEN development? Apparently they are units for single people to be built in the Lakes area as villas or something. That's just about as much info I know about this MAEEN thing. Do you know any more?

SA BOY

Its the next phase of the lakes and will be finnished in December. It is the area between the back of the Emirates Hills golf course and the "Lake" in the Lakes.Dont know any more than that

OK I know this isn't really the right thread to mention The Gardens (or maybe it is). Anyway, I was looking at their virtual tour on the site (www.thegardens.ae) of all their types of villas and apartments. I don't know whose homes they went into to take these pictures/video for the virtual tour, but I couldn't help noticing something in the living room of the 3 bedroom apartment.

http://www.ayuplanet.com/images/gardensroom.jpg

What the hell are those plastic chairs doing in the living room? If someone had them out in the garden or balcony or something and they had guests over and there weren't enough chairs so they brought these in, they could have at least taken them away when videoing a sample for the site.

Or does the apartment come with these chairs in the living room. Is it part of the interior decor? :sly:

I think those chairs are for the people who came to take pictures of the house and if you have noticed that there some cookies on the table next to the chair, which they were eating. :horse:

Quality of construction called into question as most villas are less than 10 years old

Villas in the popular neighborhood The Springs have always been high in demand, as it is perfect for families or young couples eager to adopt the community living lifestyle in an area just out of the buzz of Dubai, but still in close proximity of main attractions.

Although villas are spacious and come with considerable amenities, several owners have complained about cracks in the walls, visible from both the inside and outside the villas.

At the time of publishing the article Emaar the master developer of the Springs had yet to respond to queries sent in by this website.

Emaar is not directly responsible for the construction as The Springs were built by many different developers - therefore the quality of the Villas depends on who built them.

"It was already like this when we moved in about one and a half year ago," says AM, a Lebanese villa resident. "My husband officially complained about it half a year ago, although I do not know whom he spoke to at the time. I know that nothing has changed."

Another resident of a villa in the Springs, JK, from the Philippines, says she has the same problem and shows us cracks in her bedroom and garage from the outside.

"When we came to see this place, we noticed the cracks. When we moved in shortly after, we saw that the owner had tried to cover the worst places with paint!"

“I worry about the quality of these villas," she says.

The Springs were completed in stages but none of the villas can be older than 10 years.

An Indian resident, PS, says, "I am renting a villa in the Springs now and wanted to buy one, but after seeing the cracks in the walls I have changed my mind."

Emaar has been pushed to seek alternative methods of lighting following complaints from residents about the installation of energy saving initiatives in The Greens, Dubai.

The developer said it had installed the lights to cut down on the energy bill for the entire community but residents have reacted, calling the footpaths poorly lit which they fear could lead to traffic accidents and may encourage crime.
