* United Arab Emirates: 23 hours, 42 minutes ago
Dubai property developer Union Properties has awarded a local firm a $68m contract for the extension work at the Ritz Carlton hotel at Dubai Marina, Meed has reported. The extension will cover a total area of 36,000 square metres and increase the capacity of the hotel by 163 rooms to bring the total number of rooms to 301. True Blue October 7th, 2010, 08:44 PM Is this all contained within the existing plot or is it on the plot that was designated as a beach club?
bizzybonita October 8th, 2010, 12:47 AM This shot i catch it within plot close to beach club plot (near by Le Méridien hotel ) opposite to opera shop at JBR...
it's like edge (NEW RITZ HOTEL) to edge (Beach Club1) location .
let's hope they will worked side by side :)
kano October 8th, 2010, 10:48 AM How many floors is this going to be now?
bizzybonita October 8th, 2010, 11:56 AM not more then 5 floors !

DxbPC October 17th, 2010, 12:32 PM This is a low rise no higher than existing Ritz and on the same grounds as they are large. In my opinion the RC is long overdue a make over and this will do no harm to surrounding area.
It will look good when finished.

arash89 October 17th, 2010, 03:31 PM Their 2 year completion date is going to be more like 4, any why you need 163 extra rooms when by the end of 2011 their is going to be hundreds of hotel rooms empty across Dubai?
And the Ritz is very very pricy, Ive heard is starts around 300 usd a night and goes to the thousands for presidential rooms

Dubai Skyscraper October 18th, 2010, 11:27 AM thanks guys :)
True Blue October 18th, 2010, 12:18 PM I'm just glad that this space will be used for another low rise structure. I am wondering now if the 90 floor tower in front of Al Fattan will go ahead, hopefully not!

I'm guessing you've never stayed at ANY of the beachfront hotels? Try and find any one of them for under $300USD per night and you will have been lucky.
RedWayne28thfloor October 18th, 2010, 05:09 PM not true at all,
I can go to a beachfront hotel in Dubai Marina starting at 180 a night ,
The Ritz has always been more expensive than other hotels and in my view also overpriced, especially in Dubai Marina where we have allot of luxury hotels now and upcoming.
You've done better than me then, which beachfront hotel can you get for 180 a night? The cheapest I've found recently is the Mina Seyahi but not at the rate you mentioned. In the past, ive only ever found this rate at the old oasis beach hotel. I've never found this rate at the Hilton, Sheraton, Royal Meridian, Mina Seyahi, Westin or Habtoor.
You must know the manager
Josau October 18th, 2010, 06:06 PM ^^dubai_gone is talking about DUBAI MARINA hotels at 180 per night, but they are NOT beach front. However they are CLOSE to the beach.

Book a package and you get 1 week at Jumeirah Beach Hotel at 999 EUR incl. flight! It has never been cheaper as now in the never ending Dubai crisis... never ask directly at the hotel... they give you the lousiest prices even if the hotel is nearly empty.

I've never booked direct with the hotel, mostly on internet sights but you normally only see deals like this in the month of August for some reason.....

This hotel is old and past its best. it is for tourists that wear football tops and drink lager. quite expensive for loutish hotel.
what crisis are you referring to? the one where it is almost impossible to book a good room because all the good hotels are booked 100%.
when was the last time you were in dubai. i go there 2 wks of every month and don't see what you see.
DxbPC October 20th, 2010, 09:18 AM Le Royal Meridien.... besides that its like half the price of the ritz its also rated number 1 hotel in dubai, in comparison the so called 7 star burj al arab is number 18, the price of a the hotel doesent mean anything when it comes to quality in dubai, much like the skyscrapers, tall but crappy finishing from inside to outside.
http://www.tripadvisor.ca/Hotel_Review-g295424-d301584-Reviews-Le_Royal_Meridien_Beach_Resort_Spa-Dubai.html
in August you can book the Le Royal Meriden for 150-160, probebly now its like 200-220
I use this hotel all the time and you are correct it is one of the best hotels. It is currently £280 for a seaview room with breakfast. You can get it for £125 in the summer. It us £400 at Christmas/new year.
There is no better all round hotel and I have stayed in all of them.
den2dxb October 30th, 2010, 07:56 AM The addition to the Ritz doesn't have to be a high rise building to be unfavorable. Just the mere addition of another structure, in an already crowded area, is reason enough.
