Well, its not. It feels dry like this because of the winter. It will be springtime in a month's time. I'm sure the transformation would be pretty.

ha ha ha! and yeah I thought it might be due to the winter. Sorry to clutter the thread with writing but what are they building in the second picture of post 15?

^^ I moved here less than a week before, so I wouldn't know much. However the place just looks like a park. Maybe they are just sprucing up the riverfront/walkways?
Maybe I should go down there once the weather gets a little better. Its strategically located on the tip of the peninsula, hence the view should be great!

oh okay. Well good luck with settling in (I hope you've found your local indian shop!) and getting more pictures of Pittsburgh. :cheers:

Tried some night photography today. I use a point and shoot Canon A360. I set exposure to 1-2 seconds, used rocks and railings as makeshift tripods :crazy:. The pics look good, but something is definitely lacking. All pro cameramen, please give your opninion on how to take best night images.

if i'm not wrong then there is too much noise. This is why you see the grains.

So how do you reduce that? If you mean noise due to shaking, I understand. Is it a thing else?

Well as far as I know, ISO plays a big role in this. So try and have it as low as possible because the higher the ISO the more the noise. If it was really windy then that can have an impact as well. Other then that I you have to reduce it using a software. Some cameras have inbuilt noise reduction thing as well. That's all I know. I'm a beginner too. Sid, Indian sun, Saraf or Ferrari Fan could be more helpful.

I am not sure which pic you saw(if at all) before posting that comment, one of the exact locations photographed here if viewed from top of Mt Washington (which is across) from Downtown was voted as the Best View in United States.

Even otherwise Pittsburgh has been consistently voted as one of the most livable cities in the United States for many years now due to the low cost of living (comparatively speaking) and excellent health and educational facilities.

^^^ Yup, it was taken from Grandview ave. on Mt Washington. So far I am pretty impressed by the city. It has a healthy economy based on services, education and technology. You can clearly see old factories decently converted into shopping plazas or even business parks, showing that it has very well survived the rust belt syndrome.
