View Full Version : Health Insurance in Dubai
lebanese_007 August 3rd, 2004, 05:13 AM Hi all,
how does the health insurance work in Dubai, like when you get work for a company, does it give you health insurance, does it give you family health insurance, is it full like (basic, dental...) or or just basic and you have to pay for dental???
I know when i lived in kuwait, the company will pay for my father's health insurance, For his family, he paid one big fee when he brought us to kuwait, and a renual fee every year... but that will cover everything, from a fingure ache to dental, to surgries...
Thanks in advance

so you dont really need health insurance
Trances August 3rd, 2004, 08:50 AM Free ! Thats for citizens of the UAE. Not tourist and people here on work visa. You will need health insurance
Most companies offer basic health care and if you get a good and high profile job then they may (should) included good cover for you and (maybe) your family. For my company ( and its a basic company with that has cut me a good deal ) Cost are as follows paid by he company
mid 20 male or Female cost quoted was 2273.00 D
Mid 50 Male was 2277.00D
With only 50% Dental Cover and only at places in insures network.
Full Refund basis on most every thing else from X-ray to Acupuncture
Semi Private rooms. Hospital Accommodation for Family
Mortal Remains to Home Country
Full Refund on Prescribed Drugs
And General Out Patient Services and Specialist Out Patient Services + major things like Organ Transplant.
Hope that helps ( dont steal my kidney just cause i can get another one )
I am only new here and some eles might have better info about this topic
daniel August 3rd, 2004, 09:02 AM what happened with the policy before?
was'nt it free before for all, in 2000
i think they had a entry fee which was Dh.50 (this fee could have gone up)
but all the rest was for free unless it was'nt actually emergency or unnessesary procedure
so the healthcare in dubai is'nt free anymore? i am dissappointed :(
Trances August 3rd, 2004, 09:33 AM Nothing remotely like that taht I know of right now !

I am intrested ? ( I am cheap and always after free stuff LOL )
DubaiDave August 4th, 2004, 09:40 AM If you have a ministry health card, and you should have one for you visa blood test, you can go to Rashid hospital emergency section for free. They are open 24 hours and the service and doctors are very good. However be aware that if you do go to A & E you will see some dreadful sights. it is always full of Indian labourors with ad head injuries. I have taken my son there twice with broken limbs and they have been very good. When its not an emergency you can still go with your health card. It will cost, I think, AED 50 for an appointment and aed 50 for an x-ray.
From what I have seen the service isa little slower than private hospitals but the doctors seem far more knowlageble than my experiences in Private hospitals. You can even get a copy of the rays for AED 20 each so you can put them on your wall afterwards.
Trances August 4th, 2004, 11:31 AM nice for the wall
my visa is still being processed so dont have yet
Good to know there some services for all
and you say you think its better than some private ?
AltinD August 4th, 2004, 08:34 PM In more then 4 years as Dubai resident, I've never visited the doctor, apart of the mandatory medical check-up before geting the residency. Hope it stays that way ...
Trances August 5th, 2004, 08:40 AM well thats a best but things still happen and you need to be ready
DubaiDave August 5th, 2004, 08:44 AM If youdo ever need to go to the emergency department at Rashid Hospital it is not signposted very well. The first time we went we had to follow an ambulance.
