I hope the Kampung Baru Redevelopment Masterplan includes a big public park (larger than KLCC park if possible) because you could really get a superb view of downtown KL from there..... It could be KL very own Central Park.

Although the skyscrapers in KL are more spread out, therefore reducing the "cluster" view from space, the city is nevertheless much bigger than SG...
Wow, Kg. Baru is really huge, in fact almost half of KL itself! If the new city plan for that area materializes, KL City will be massive!
http://mywebpage.netscape.com/scgohA/KualaLumpur.jpg

As for SG, there are many skyscrapers bunched in one area... But notice that the CBD is longer than KL, therefore the spread is smaller...

- PTT
- MidValley
- Little Genting
- Bukit Kiara
- Lake Titiwangsa
- My gf's place (Bandar Tun Razak)
- SS2 (finally can see my house!)
- PJ State circular road

LEGEND (those lines!):
Orange - Federal Highway

Brown - SPRINT Damansara Link
Light Blue - SPRINT Kerinchi Link
Dark Blue - East-West Link (just below Bandar Tun Razak)
Red - Ampang-KL Elevated Highway

Amendments:
- SS2 is in the wrong place, that spot is actually Damansara Jaya. SS2 itself is right of DJ...

Added these places:

- PJ Old Town
- Amcorp Mall!
- Sec. 19 Industrial Area
- Seri Setia
- Phileo Damansara

- Parliament House
- Highland Towers (who would ever forget that tragedy?)
- The Mines Resort City

Notice in the pix that almost every highway in the Valley has a direct link to the Federal Highway except for the Shah Alam Expressway and KL-Ampang Elevated...

But considering that the city is so built-up, there are still so many green spots all over the place... Excellent preservation of our natural heritage! However, of significance is Bukit Nanas... In which city in the world can you still find an original(!) forest smack in the CBD? Only in KL, man!

What is that new development (the white area) next to little genting? Should be another housing estate, right? It looks huge!

Keep up the good work!

Yea....that explains why Federal is always so jammed up! :D Anyway most of these highways take traffic away from federal but they also encourages traffic to pass thru it to get to these newly built highway :D

Bukit Nenas is cool because it is like surrounded by the CBD! :okay: ......and many visitors I had the privilege to bring em around never failed to comment on the abundance of greens in KL ;)

As for the development 'next' to Little Genting well.....it is actually behind (over the peak actually). That development is called Cheras Hartamas and it is also connected to Taman Segar :) .........BUT now (since late last year)......next to Little Genting got ANOTHER hill forest devastating development - it is not shown in this satellite imagery

Satellite confirms structures of Kota Gelanggi

BY TEOH TEIK HOONG AND AUDREY EDWARDS

PETALING JAYA: The search for the lost city of Kota Gelanggi has taken a leap forward with satellite maps confirming the existence of structures on site.

A remote sensing satellite image taken by the Malaysian Centre for Remote Sensing (Macres) has revealed possible structures which match aerial photographs taken by Canberra-based independent researcher Raimy Che-Ross last year.

The image has also shown that the apparent structures are much more extensive than previously thought.

Raimy, when contacted yesterday, said the satellite image and other recent evidence had convinced him that he had found the lost city of Kota Gelanggi.

?Call it by any other name, but this is definitely the Lost City of Kota Gelanggi.

?Thanks to both the evidence and the satellite images, I am absolutely sure that my original hypothesis and findings are correct,? he told The Star yesterday.

A Kuala Lumpur-based Geographical Information System (GIS), mapping and remote sensing consultant who analysed the satellite image said there was no doubt that there were peculiar structures.

?Johor does not have natural rock formations and what is seen in the satellite image is man-made. The lines could be walls or trenches,? he said.

However, the consultant added that there were also other possibilities of what these structures could constitute. They include former logging trails, fluvial networks caused by receding waters of a dam which is the result of sedimentation.

?It could also be the lost city of Kota Gelanggi.

?What is sure is that you have the same site shown in earlier pictures. I am 90% sure the image is that of the area the authorities are looking for.?

On the possibility that some of the lines seen on the satellite image were modern-day fences, the consultant said, ?Fences are never built around dams in the country. I suspect these could be 'fences' built long ago.?

He said it was necessary for the authorities to go and verify the authenticity of the site.

i think that's because the pic of Penang was zoomed in

the width of the KL picture is actually 50 miles, while the one for Penang is 25 miles. So the image for Penang was zoomed in compared to KL, and that's why it looks denser and big.. :)

3. My best guess....probably Kuantan. I noticed the cruise boats docked along the Kuantan River. Could also be Alor Star? Again, not too sure.

This one is definitely Malawati Stadium as mentioned by Sc4 too!

Cause I remember those semi-circular stairs on 3 of its sides cause just before one of the numerous concerts held there, a bunch of us had a meetup on top of the semi-circular platforms ;)

Furthermore its signature green roof and squarish design does give it away :D

Question 2 - Big Toll Plaza on Highway (http://www.warehome.com/2006/06/17/question-2-big-toll-plaza-on-highway/)

This is the Batu Tiga Toll Plaza.

SC4 > Its couldn't have been the Sg.Besi toll because this one had green roofing and you could also see that it had those traditional roof shapes.

This toll booth also has extra motorcycle lanes by the sides and I think that these two features promted myf282828 to say that it is one of the Federal Highway's toll ;)

And of course we could see that there are 5 special lanes which is for SmartTag and TnG.

Furthermore I could specifically said that it is the Batu Tiga one due to a few factors:

- the Klang-bound side had this extra lane of toll which not many toll booth has.

- Google Earth does not cover the Bukit Raja toll so it must be the Batu Tiga one :D

Good guess! :okay:

Although this interchange have no name but I think the most appropriate name would be the Jalan Cheras 5th Mile Interchange. The flyover at the top-most layer belongs to the MRR2 which connects Sri Petaling to Ampang. The bottom flyover is the Jalan Cheras flyover which leads to Kajang. You got it correct with the shophouses which is on a cliff and that is Taman Billion.

However this intersection is still Jalan Cheras and it won't be until another 2 miles before you reach the Cheras-Kajang Highway ;)

Yup...that's Makro's carpark ;)

However that is not Grand Saga's toll booth (Grand Saga is the highway consessionaire for the Cheras-Kajang Highway). It is the old Metramac toll booth as Metramac is the consessionaire of the upgrading of Jalan Cheras 16 years ago. The current Cherie Blair thingy that involves Fauziah Holdings, Metramac, Tan Sri Halim Saad and Tun Daim had something to do with this toll lah hehehehe :D

It's along the Ipoh-Lumut highway, almost midway between the two places, somewhere called Bandar Sri Iskandar. I think it's difficult to zoom and search it as it's not clear and only certain urban areas have those squares that makes it clearer when u zoom-in. Try looking for its prominent silver cladded roofing designed by Norman Foster.

^^ This is Desa Waterpark lah :D It is located near Taman Desa which are sandwiched between Old Klang Road, Jalan Kuchai Lama and the East-West Link (Connaught Highway). The highway (far right) that could be seen in this pic is the KL-Seremban HIghway ;)

^^ Many other interchanges looks nice from above. Only 1 dissappoints me which is the Jalan Damansara - Kerinchi Link interchange. It looks darn complicated when you're driving but relatively simple when viewed from above. Although it is much more complicated than many other interchanges that Baq posted but it should be more :D
