Pedrillo August 7th, 2004, 03:17 PM For who does not know the project... This one is a redevelopment of the old sport city of Real Madrid to construct 4 skyscrapers, a park and possibly a palace of congresses. The skyscrapers to construct are Torre Espacio (I.M.Pei) 215m, Torre Mutua (Cesar Pelli) 250m, Torre Vallehermoso (Rubio&Alvarez) 220m and Torre Repsol (Norman Foster) 250m. The works will be finalized throughout year 2007.

SJM August 7th, 2004, 05:49 PM Wow those are some nice buildings!
oscyrkorso August 7th, 2004, 05:54 PM This project will allow the city to have one of the most amazing skylines in europe, and it will mean a great oportunity for the city-development.It was time about they built new skyscrapers in Madrid; the current tallest skyscraper in Madrid is Torre Picasso and it was completed in 1985,and its height is "only" 157 m,so u can imagine how important this project is for the city and for the Spanish forumers...
Keep up with it in the Spanish Forum
Prestonian August 7th, 2004, 10:21 PM They are all superb designs. An instantly beautiful skyline on the way methinks. :)
Phobos August 8th, 2004, 12:18 AM This is an impressive project!
This city will receive 4 towers at once;I just don't like Torre Repsol, apart from that all of them are wonderful.

operation charmartin also will consist of 15 towers from 25 floors to 60 floors, heres some rendering someone made on their own, there are no renerings yet of this approved project.

Pedrillo August 8th, 2004, 02:46 PM @Odoguy: The second simulation is a little incorrect, when I did it I put the towers something disproportioned. This but is fit to which will be in fact.

baskan August 9th, 2004, 06:43 AM Hmm...
did'nt understand it all; is Real Madrid building a new arena as well as 4 new skyscrapers?
Please explain....
Sexas August 9th, 2004, 07:01 AM cool
Darconte August 9th, 2004, 09:46 AM Hmm...
did'nt understand it all; is Real Madrid building a new arena as well as 4 new skyscrapers?
Please explain....
No, Real Madrid has sold where they have their sport complex in an operation with the local and regional autorithies. The skyscrapers are owned by private companies and they will be for offices and for a big hotel in the "torre vallehermoso",
Real Madrid is now building a new and bigger sport complex near Barajas airport.
HasanB August 9th, 2004, 11:06 AM The Real madrid Sports Complex ? are you taking about the bernabau, as far as im aware that hasnt been demolished ... im very confused ... maybe youre talking about Reals former training facilities which i remember being sold some time ago ... is that what youre talking about ?
Darconte August 9th, 2004, 12:47 PM Yes :)
Fragmentor August 9th, 2004, 05:06 PM I am envious beyond belief, it looks great, its one of the only skylines (save Canary Wharf 2007) that at the time of seeing it my jaw hit the floor, its great

They are talking about the basketball team of Real Madrid.
Darconte, how many seats will have the new arena ? and this next season Real will play in the palacio Vistalegre along with the Estudiantes, right ?
oduguy1999 August 10th, 2004, 02:21 AM hey spanish forumers, whats going on with operation charmatin? when are renderings coming out, are they still gonna build the 60 floor tower first?
Darconte August 10th, 2004, 09:06 AM There are a lot of problems with the operation chamartin, I think we won't see nothing in a lot of years of this, even it can be cancelled :( But we still have the niew suburbs in the southeast of the city that can bring us some tall suprises :D We must wait to see.

Yes, they will play in Vistalegre, at least until the works in the "palacio de los deportes" arena ends in december. Then probably next season they will play there. The project of the new arena in the new sport complex is not very advanced and we don't know nothing abour it :(

Fern January 16th, 2005, 03:22 PM I love that Torre Mutua. Is it really gonna be built?
Tom_Green January 16th, 2005, 04:46 PM Very interesting. 5 years ago nobody would imagine that the next skyscraper boom in Europe will be in Madrid.
Respect :)
Pedrillo: I have a request. Can you please write the high next to the building name when you make new construction updates ?
I make this request because this are 4 towers and i have problem to remember the name.
th0m January 16th, 2005, 05:19 PM Really nice projects! And they are going up quickly too! When are they supposed to be completed?
Peter The Great January 16th, 2005, 06:47 PM Nice updates...but I was looking for more on the Madrid Arena
rufi January 16th, 2005, 07:00 PM Good! lets see how Op. Chamartin goes.
Undarl January 16th, 2005, 08:28 PM Yes thy're gonna be built and supposed to be completed(?) in 2007. There have been lots of projects un madrid but the last mayor did't want to build skyscrapers;)
Pedrillo January 16th, 2005, 10:43 PM @FERN: Torre Mutua is the first project name of the Torre de Cristal, and it's now under construction. ;)
@TOM GREEN: Do you refer to the heights? (Torre Repsol 250 m, Torre Cristal 250m, Torre Espacio 223m, Torre SacyrVallehermoso 215m ).
Darconte January 16th, 2005, 11:22 PM The 4 towers will be finished between 2007 and 2008. All of them are right now under construction after some problems. Torre Sacyr will have a 5 star hotel, one of the tallest of Europe.
And about operacion chamartin we hope this year we'll se the final solution and the aproval of it. By the way this is a long term project so don't expect to see it finished before 10/15 years at least.
Dennis January 16th, 2005, 11:45 PM They i wanna do a big meeting in Madrid in 2007, deal?

There are 9 cranes: 7 in the Repsol tower and 2 in the Espacio tower. Other two towers are in the foundations and they do not have mounted cranes yet. (Well, in mutual Tower they are mounting 2).
When all the cranes are mounted it will be spectacular. :runaway:

mic of Orion April 5th, 2005, 03:33 AM For who does not know the project...

Xander April 11th, 2005, 12:48 PM Cant wait for these to rise and take their own individual forms! Just a quik question, I know nothing about construction methods, and am a little confused by Espacio. It seems to me like a few metal beams surounded by loadsa scaffolding, not really forming any 'skyscrapery' type shape. What is going on there? Are any of these projects on hold. Vallehermoso seem to be pretty quiet.
Pedrillo April 12th, 2005, 09:35 PM There is no one of the four projects in hold. What happens is that Repsol and Espacio began before and already they go fast. Mutua is working in the foundations and Vallehermoso is doing the hole for the tower. But the 4 are under construction.
The metallic structures are to do the portal and the hall of the tower.
Xander April 13th, 2005, 01:15 PM Oh right, thanks Pedrillo. Yeah, just thought Espacio looked weird, but Repsol seems to be looking good.
My favourite of the designs is actually the Mutua. Wanna see that rise!

The drawing of the Sacyr Vallehermoso tower should be updated as on this one it "only" shows a height of 215 m and as you may already know the final height of this tower was increased a few months ago up to 235 m.
By the way, do you think that this is something you could actually do? I am asking you because I really like your drawings!
:)
Azcamadrid April 15th, 2005, 08:05 PM Por lo visto la Torre Repsol la consideran mejor los extranjerso que los propios españoles, curioso, xD.

Repsol - SacyrVallehermoso - Mutua Cristal - Espacio
For possible new forumers in this thread, I can tell you that in the renders recovered by oduguy1999 the first one is a future view from the south, in Castellana Avenue, of the four towers.
The second render is Torre de Cristal (Crystal Tower) also named by some spanish forumers Torre Mutua Madrileña because Mutua Madrileña is the name of the company owner of the building, but the same company calls it "Crystal Tower" for marketing, so this is the official name. Crystal tower is also the last render, and after it, in the same, render, Torre Espacio (Space Tower) the one who is going up faster with about 40 meters tall.
Torre Espacio is also the third render.
The fourth one is Torre Repsol which is the name of a well-known spanish petrol company and it will be the headquarters of the company group.
The other render is the tower called Torre Sacyr-Vallehermoso, but this complex name is just the name of the owner of the building. They haven't given a commercial name for it, maybe because half of it will be a hotel and the other will be for renting offices and they are still looking for a official name.
Phobos August 13th, 2005, 08:37 PM Torre Espacio is growing fast.
Manu84 August 13th, 2005, 08:49 PM Torre Espacio ~ nearly 11 floors
oduguy1999 August 13th, 2005, 09:25 PM any word on any other tall projects in madrid? any proposals for windsor tower? word on Operation charmatin? is vallecas tower proposal dead?
skyworld August 14th, 2005, 12:31 AM any proposals for windsor tower? word on Operation charmatin? is vallecas tower proposal dead?
Hey, man, you know Madrid projects status better than millions of citizens of the capital :D
Windsor tower is just finishing demolition. All big cranes are out because demolition has reached the fourth level (tremendous, fast and fantastic work of demolition) and the City Council, who has been the authority on charge of the demolition, gives the "key" to the owners of the tower. We expect than the owners would say in a few weeks what they want to do, obviously there will be another tower, but we don't know if they will construct fast a "simply" tower with their own architects team or maybe will look for a well-known architect like Foster, Calatrava, Pelli or any other.
Chamartin Operation is also "stand-by" because of problems between administrations (city council and spanish goverment) Both of them have ground property and there is still no agreement. So, the latest news is that City Council is thinking to make another "Chamartin Operation II" in his own ground, with big skyscrapers too. But it's just a possibility nowadays.
Vallecas tower is almost dead. No one word of it in the last two years... :(
That's all by now. Be patient ;)
coth August 15th, 2005, 12:48 PM http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b141/igsilar/arena/AEROFOTO_GENERAL.jpg
looking interesting - what is going to be on other place? is it splitted on plots with supposed skyscrapers or it's going to be big mall or square?
skyworld August 15th, 2005, 01:49 PM looking interesting - what is going to be on other place? is it splitted on plots with supposed skyscrapers or it's going to be big mall or square?
Just behind the towers, the City Council is the owner of the place, and they have said that there will be a new Congress Hall for the city, but there is still no architect designed for it. Anyway, they want a "singular building", so they will look for a great architect to build it, I hope.
coth August 15th, 2005, 01:54 PM Could it be skyscraper?
skyworld August 15th, 2005, 02:12 PM Could it be skyscraper?
No, sorry :D It would be a "singular" but also "horizontal" building. No more skyscrapers in this place.
Next skyscrapers in Madrid now will be developed in an area called Operación Chamartín not so far this place, to the north-east, but as I said in a post before, this new operation is in "stand-by" without progress. We expect some future tower in this new place with about 300 meters tall, and a new skyline for the city with more towers, but no decission by now about it...

Mr Bricks September 13th, 2005, 09:55 PM very beatiful buildings! It´s nice to see that Madrid is getting some new scrapers, the skyline is going to look awesome! Europe is truly going threw a skyscraper-age; Madrid, Paris, Warsaw and London (although it seems to take a loooooong time for those brits to get their scrapers up...)
DonQui September 13th, 2005, 10:35 PM Lol...yet another project bankrolled by the EU in Spain, European taxpayers have virtually rebuilt Spain over the last 20 years.....
After you finish growing the other half of your only brain cell, I would do a little research before making such stupid comments.
These towers are being built by PRIVATE corporations, multinational Repsol, which is also building corporate headquarters in Buenos Aires, Mutua Madrilena, a financial group based in Madrid, as well as for a multinational construction company.
Why would the EU pay for skyscrapers that are being used by private companies?
Cyril September 13th, 2005, 10:38 PM Four 250m towers under construction at the same time! No city has ever achieved it in Europe before.
(As a comparison, only two 180m towers are currently under construction in Paris)

How can some people be so ignorant or should I maybe say... jealous?
Spain has been “rebuilding” itself after a long dictatorship way before they received one single cent from the other members of the EU. The country has the fastest growing economy (3.4%) of Western Europe pushed mainly by the internal demand/consumption and has become one of the major investors in Latin America surpassing in this respect the USA in several countries…
These skyscrapers just reflect the prosperity of these PRIVATE companies whereas your comments just reflect the poorness of your brain and the obvious lack of culture.

And even if it was so, i'd say good for them. I'm all for helping neighbors, we are, after all, by very definition of the word, a community.
Good to see the towers rising, torre de crystal is my new favorite in europe, flawless!

Yes, for already many years a great urban development operation is blocked, situated near 100 meters of these towers, which there includes the construction of 15 skyscrapers. This operation was unblocked in March but it returned to block with the change of government in Spain (most of the implied areas concerns to the national government). It hopes that this autumn or winter could be unblocked and be able to begin to award the lots for the construction of the towers.
Sorry for my bad english. ;)
www.sercan.de September 15th, 2005, 12:16 PM thank you
i am not sure

Meldon September 15th, 2005, 12:57 PM Four beautiful towers...what an amazing project...GO MADRID! I wish we had these going up in Melbourne.
Pedrillo September 15th, 2005, 03:43 PM @Sercan: Yes, but it's only a rumour. The official size is 250, for this moment.

I really don't tnink so! It's stupid to think this, who is a bankroller? Spain doesn't steal banks!
You should be very glad that Spain is a member of the European Union. You were able -and you are it still- to get fruit and vegetables at reasonable prices, Companies will be able to invest in Spain and also get money over there in Spain, which is good for your country.
You people are the ones who visit our country at the Costas and you make profit of "our" sun and beaches (Thomas Cook, TUI, etc...) And many tourist make a mess in Salou and Lloret.
Do you really think that Madrid needs money of the EU? The city is richer than many other regions in the EU.
It is true that Spain received money and with that money we built infrastructure and we helped our pour farmers. We are thankfull for that.
But in a Metropol like Madrid, we are the ones who pay it (private enterprises, citizens of MAdrid), or do you think we move through the city by horse and that we don't have electrcity?
We have the best underground system of Europe! Everyone who comes to Madrid can't deny that.
So please be informed!
cello1974 September 16th, 2005, 12:19 AM Madrid, Istanbul, Warsaw, Moscow,... Europe has real boomtowns. THIS is so great!!!

jesarm September 19th, 2005, 06:12 PM Torre Espacio is growing very fast every week
Theremin September 19th, 2005, 11:02 PM Now, Repsol Tower is introduced in the diagram. :D

picassoborseli September 20th, 2005, 12:13 AM In the Spanish forum we had a poll, which of the 4 Madrid Arena towers have the highest grade. Best design, tallest, most beautyfull, etc... The final (avarage of all votes) grades are presented below:
Torre Cristal-MUTUA: 8,83
Torre Espacio: 8,49
Torre Sacyr-Vallehermoso: 8,27
Torre Repsol: 7,24
I think that the most people think that too, and it represents everybody's opinion...
Chibcha2k September 20th, 2005, 05:37 AM great diagram
Chad September 20th, 2005, 05:38 AM Stunning Diagram!!!
DaDvD September 21st, 2005, 07:13 PM Well done Theremin! Beautiful diagram :applause:
Muse September 21st, 2005, 08:58 PM The title of this thread may be misleading as the 4 towers are not all going to be 250m/820ft. The only one Torre Respol is going to be that height.
Coming close to that is the 249m/817ft. I know it's a fine line here.
Regardless, they will be fine looking towers to say the least on their anticipated completion sometime in 2007.
Check out the 4 Arena Towers here with the links to the right-hand side @ Arena Towers (http://www.emporis.com/en/wm/cx/?id=100631)
BTW Just to clear thing up here, could it be that emporis.com got a couple of the heights incorrect?
Theremin September 22nd, 2005, 12:27 PM Sacyr-Vallehermoso Tower is now introduced in the diagram.
