Cities in China, like many other cities around Asia, are very population dominated. So you probably won't find a skyline, other than Singapore, where the residentials don't dominate part of the skyline.

Shenyang:
-Very different from the other Chinese cities in the sense that it doesn't have a definite skyline/CBD
-Too many commie blocks = time for a revamp, something I think will happen soon.
- So little Chinese styled buildings compared to other Chinese cities, or maybe i couldn't see it in the pano above.
- One thing I like that Shanghai/Pudong could learn from is that their apartment buildings are built on top of commercial areas, meaning that there is street life in residential areas as well. If all apartment blocks would have followed this trend, then there would be plenty of street life everywhere and the streets will look very lively.

less than you think

How would you know? I like Shenyang's skyline, but it's not as impressive to me as (e.g.) HK, Shanghai, Shenzhen, Guangzhou, Chongquing, Tianjin, Nanjing, Beijing, Hangzhou, Dalian or Qingdao and on more or less the same level as Shijazhuang, Ningbo, Wenzhou, Chengdu, Kunming, Nanning, Xiamen, Urumqi, Xi'An or Changsha just to name a few (plus several others that don't come to my mind at the moment) at best..

Still, Shenyang is very impressive imo (esp. on your pano :okay: )

^ Well that's okay, I have not been to China also (so far ;) ).
I know that Shenyang is among the bigger chinese cities, but I am not that impressed by that sea of mid- and lowrises as -for example- by the (significantly smaller but) high quality cluster of Qingdao.

There are many towers U/C visible in your Shenyang pic though.
In a few years I could probably change my opinion. :)

Thanks for the info,

I really like these massive ensembles: Shimao Wulihe City | 230-285m x 5 (http://www.skyscrapercity.com/showthread.php?t=478937)
Shenyang New World International Convention & Exhibition Center | 229-308m x 4 (http://www.skyscrapercity.com/showthread.php?t=693770)

This monstrosity (the main tower) is not really my cup of tea: Shenyang Lotte World | 275m (http://www.skyscrapercity.com/showthread.php?t=995871)

There's truly pretty much going on there at the moment :okay:
