View Full Version : General Urban Transport
FreddyB November 2nd, 2010, 08:10 AM If your living in Tabriz, you would definitly notice some changes in the taxi system. It has been a while that the taxi drivers are wearing a special uniform which kinda looks like the navy uniform.unfortanantly I don't have any pics of it yet but the wearing is really common now and 90% wear it(its noticable)
I found this text about it:

The one thing I really don't like about Shiraz is its lack of color so I don't mind this. The city is really dry in summer time so these bring a bit of color at least.
Edit: the purple/pink one is ugly as hell though lol
FreddyB June 7th, 2011, 06:34 AM purple is gay colour

Herbicide June 7th, 2011, 04:18 PM These are high floor buses. When are they going to start with low floor in Iran!? Despite all these disabled veterans and pious old people being praised as heroes and models of virtue by the government they dont give enough of a shit about them to make buildings and public transport accesible to them with easily enforced legislation. You never see new buses like this anymore in Europe.
FreddyB June 7th, 2011, 04:32 PM i dont think the buses in the cities r high floor buses.only the traveling buses r
Herbicide June 7th, 2011, 06:26 PM ^^ Any bus you have to step up to is high floor. These busses are not wheelchair or pram accesible. Im talking about busses not coaches. Nearly all city busses in Iran are high floor (they have a step up inside). About the only low floor ones are the busses on Tehran's BRT and the very rare IKD Megatrans.
FreddyB June 7th, 2011, 07:41 PM oh.thanks.I though that the one's that u really really have to go up r high-floors(travel buses)

dkhazenirad June 10th, 2011, 10:14 PM I'm not familiar with other european countries but in the UK they raised the sidewalk and implemented level access to all the high level busses in the towns. It works fine until you drive your car too close and scrape them.
Herbicide June 12th, 2011, 01:33 PM ^^ No. In some places the kerb is raised so that it is level with any bus door including low floor, because you would still have to step up a little to get on to low floor, it just has no further steps inside apart from to get to the rear seats.
It takes away this step to allow people in wheelchairs access to low floor busses.

http://www.firstgroup.com/ukbus/bristol_bath/assets/images/low-access.jpg
Raising the pavement would not work for high floor because it has more steps up well inside the bus.
Low floor:

high-floor:
http://i93.photobucket.com/albums/l74/Thaitransit/Modern%20Mass%20transit%20rail/modern%20mass%20transit%20buses/P1000976a.jpg
dkhazenirad June 12th, 2011, 03:11 PM yes your right about the step actually, still when raising the pavement in the UK it still is nerve racking getting your car close to the kerb.

KalePache September 17th, 2011, 02:35 PM IMO they don't need to seperate the street like they do.
They should
1. educate people to drive better
2. Create bus lanes similar to the UK and put camera's to charge offenders during rush hour times.
This might cause problems with parking but its much better than ruining the roads with those railings.
SoroushPersepolisi September 17th, 2011, 03:38 PM true
in toronto here tbey hve the viva routes for the brt, but the streets are less clustered (they are at rush hours) but the buses seem to get through easily amd they dont have their designated lanes (although the street layout etc is different and that should be considered)
i think a separate lane without railings is the best , but in iran kessi halish nist be in chiza , unless there are heavy consequences
in general though cutting a whole lane decreases the area cars can travel in be almost 1/4-1/3 times , the brts are a bit inefficient
i think major changes need to be made regarding traffic

I wouldnt be too optomistic because they seem to think what they are doing is perfect with those damn railings.

SoroushPersepolisi September 21st, 2011, 10:37 PM The green cars are so ugly
the cars arent bad but the colour is hideous
a normal orange/red colour is fine, i dun get their insistance on these mad colours
I wonder if the new buses are going top replace older ones or just being added.
most old buses are being replaced there are plenty of new ones in use already
these add to the new and decrease the old ones :)
KalePache September 21st, 2011, 11:44 PM What type of VW's are they? And what are the other cars behind the VW's?
They are either VW Fox or Touran (i think its Fox) and the vans way in the back are Delica's.
SoroushPersepolisi September 22nd, 2011, 04:53 AM esfahans BRT line 1 has opened for testing, the stupid idiots dont put pics of the buses but instead the guy who opened it :bash:

SoroushPersepolisi November 19th, 2011, 04:30 AM the cars are fine but the god damn colour ohhh
imagine the uk had these colours on its taxis
london would loook soo ugly lol
cars really set tones in the city
Ze Carlos_Ze November 19th, 2011, 04:59 AM The 405 is new? Very well then!
Come on, we are in the year 2011 people! We should have a mass production of the Dena and give them to the taxi drivers. At least the Dena looks nice and new.
But we never learn I guess lol.
Damn, why can't some people here have political and economical decisions about Iran? Would be interesting lol.
Aerithia November 19th, 2011, 10:02 AM ^^ This.
In my opinion it's rather the opposite, i like the green color but the cars...
Seriously? A Peugeot 2000? -.-'
They need to stop producing and using that cars, they have terrible performance and you need to refill them with fuel all the time...
But worst of all is the pollution they cause, it's enough with that the relative humidity in the area is so low...
In one of the earlier pictures posted sometime in September this year they had some brand new yellow Volkswagens, why can't they buy more of them instead?
Ze Carlos_Ze November 19th, 2011, 11:30 AM you are right, but we are iranians and do not understand and learn!

Aerithia May 4th, 2012, 08:25 AM You know, close-minded people...
IMO it's good that they're focusing on public transport and the black and yellow rails aren't that bad but the blue-white things seen all over Iran is a disgrace for the whole country as whole. It's awful :ohno:
sarbaze tabarestan May 4th, 2012, 11:26 AM In tehran they are working day and night on resalat, there will be a brt from elmo sanat to arajntin. This will be fun--4get to bring ur own car.there is everyday traffic on that highway.no reducing 1 line will be fun.But i support it,why should only the rich people who have a car profit from investments in the infrastructure.Only people who have theyr own cars can use the highways which are build by the wealth of all of us.the people without own cars get nothing from the highways.so its a nice decision
Herbicide May 4th, 2012, 02:51 PM ^^ :)
I don't see the problem with the railings so much. Everywhere has ordinary railings like this. They are painted black and yellow no doubt because it is the universal code for danger. So it subliminally dissuades guys from trying to take a short cut across the street by jumping over them and creating a danger for traffic.
I don't really understand the blue and white kerbs though. Why bother painting them?Only developing countries seem to have painted kerbs. It makes Iran look like India or somewhere.
SoroushPersepolisi May 4th, 2012, 07:20 PM ^^ the railing colour is my issue, the yellow is too extra, u dont see them in other countries
it should be also placed on a base rather than asphalt
the curb colours however are just sooo 3rd worldish, expensive and useless
concrete colour is how it should be
Aerithia May 4th, 2012, 10:17 PM I agree!
Instead of the crappy curb colour (and the railing too for that part) they should put proper lightning. I mean, this is the 21th century.
Funny thing is that they decorate their mosques which so much light and yet they build these crappy railings and curb thingys :ohno:
SoroushPersepolisi May 4th, 2012, 10:27 PM the lighting is fine imo,
mosque lighting in iran is so cheap and kitsch , its terrible
they should make everything as simple as possible, if they want to make it decorated etc they need lots of care in the design which they pull of horribly all the time
SAYEGH May 5th, 2012, 08:39 PM the curb colours however are just sooo 3rd worldish, expensive and useless
concrete colour is how it should be
I fully agree
I hope everyone in iranian municipalities see this video
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OkXBwcpHTgg
so simple , with a tendency of the flow of water
without tortuosity , and without inconsistent curb edge stones

How can be saipa and iranian authorities proud to produce this garbage pride in 2012 (taxi and regular cars)? Wasn't there a plan to replace them with more modern cars (the same can be said with the 405 of iran khodro). or maybe there are waiting 2030 to stop producing them (as they did with paykan). Afterall it is easy money for them.
I read some months ago that saipa was in a bad situation. Too bad they didn't fall already.
Shapoor August 3rd, 2012, 09:58 AM Tehran will have 30,000 public bikes and 1,000 bike stations by March 2013, all the bicycles will be manufactured to a certain criteria by a home company: http://en.tehran.ir/default.aspx?tabid=77&ArticleId=814
But here's why this program (as ambitious as it is) won't work...
Tehranis as you may know sometimes strike as uncivilized freaks: There will be vandalism, damage and loss. If there will ever be bike lanes (with or without railings) you'll see motorcyclists use it as their very own express lane. Not to mention being rammed down by a car. There is no biking culture, what's there is extreme laziness, I've heard citizens say "Tehran ain't flat I can't bike", to that I can say it's not San Francisco and bikes have gears. You can imagine stuff like "not in this weather", "the air is polluted" and so on...
SoroushPersepolisi August 3rd, 2012, 02:24 PM wow
thats ambitious
spot on shapoor, u said it
tehran is no place for bikes
hopefully it will change but it will take a long long time
something like this is esfahan would be much more suitable for such thing as ive seen people bike there alot

very clean, all of them, the stone path is good, the curbs again would be better off in plain concrete and the signage and extra childish posters and bill boards and wonderland like structures need to be removed and woala you have a real city terminal not disneyland

It is the least they can do but it isn't enough. they don't dare to fight against the real cause which is ikco/saipa pollution boxes. someone said the pollution are also bc of industries and mountains. ok but if most of the vehicles were electric, hybrid or at last moderm, we wouldn't have this heavy smog! someone spoke about tourism in iran. we 'd be a joke if tourists see the mess in our street, our undisciplined drivers, our dirty beach...

Herbicide December 7th, 2012, 07:51 PM There is a good reason that electric cars have not become successful anywhere. The battery technology is just not developed enough. It makes the cars very heavy, so more energy is needed to power them and the batteries don't last very long costing a fortune to replace and are difficult to recycle causing toxic environmental pollution problems if they are not. Even hybrid cars have the same problems. They seem like a good idea and appeal to people who care a bit about the environment, but not enough that they are willing to make any changes to the way they live to save it. Unfortunately they are just not very practical. Current hybrids put out more co2 than small diesels anyway and so their environmental credentials are a bit of a gimmick. Maybe IKCO realised this.

but they should continue research
there are a few new electric cars like the chevy volt that lasts pretty well, requires gas 1nce a month
there are options, but as u said, they havent been developed, but if they do , it would be amazing
hydrogen cars were nice, however the lack of safety and cost were issues

urbastar February 9th, 2013, 06:01 PM What are these exactly for ? Are they used as city buses ? And why so old ?
Lol have you ever seen something modern coming out of Iran? ^^
freddie_is_persian February 9th, 2013, 06:24 PM What are these exactly for ? Are they used as city buses ? And why so old ?
Not very old :D for short direction ;)
abii February 10th, 2013, 06:21 AM Bit fugly, but much much better than those Benz mini busses that were all over the place when I was in Iran.
Aerithia February 11th, 2013, 12:48 PM Lol have you ever seen something modern coming out of Iran? ^^lol
NFZANMNIM February 13th, 2013, 05:41 AM Not very old :D for short direction ;)
What exactly do you mean by short distances? Does Shiraz really need these?
SoroushPersepolisi February 13th, 2013, 02:53 PM Even if they need them , they can use better mini buses
SoroushPersepolisi March 14th, 2013, 12:02 AM new buses for disabled people

PirouzM March 14th, 2013, 06:53 AM I can't say for sure but the first photo depicting a bus wheelchair lift appears to be a local adaptation rather than factory optional equipment installed, at purchase or post-purchase. It's consistent with older productions units used on mass transit buses here in California. This type does require the bus operator to assist the disabled in entering the vehicle. More expensive buses in use here in the U.S. utilize hydraulics to lower the entire bus front, enabling the disabled to enter on their own. Even so, it's often the case the bus operator is still needed for assistance.
Unfortunately the view in the photo of the Iveco bus' lift is limited. I can't make out whether or not it's a locally fabricated unit. Nevertheless, it also appears to be consistent with units in service at certain hospitals here in the U.S..
SoroushPersepolisi March 14th, 2013, 07:46 AM Its an added unit
They replaced the steps with a hydaulic elevator platform
Inefficient, time consuming, costy and insecure
Very time consuming if ur constantly going to let in and out people with wheelchairs
soorena March 20th, 2013, 02:57 AM Seems like they are using now also Nissan teana as well.

its nice, might be silly and useless too though , especially when there is more important things to fix
in iran we have some silly luxuries like this that people in developed nations dont have but then on average the quality of life is worse
the writing and signs look absolutely horrid though

PirouzM May 14th, 2013, 10:20 PM Wow, they've bored into the pavement to set up these temporary barriers.
Here in my municipality in California, our temporary barriers are simply linked, and the steel finish is simply galvanized.
