Today is the birthday of HM The Queen's Birthday and a national holiday. It is also Thai Mother's Day. Above is a large portrait of HM The Queen on Ratchadamnoen Avenue in downtown Bangkok on August 12, 2001. There are about a dozen of these signs erected in the middle of the street for The Queen's birthday. There are also Christmas lights along the road.

As we all know August 12, 2004 is Her Majesty the Queen’s 73rd birthday. On this very special occasion, Thai people throughout the world will celebrate Her Majesty the Queen’s birthday and wish Her Majesty happiness and long life. Her Majesty’s birthday is also known as Mother’s Day in Thailand.

In observance of this important day, we will celebrate the Queen’s birthday at Watpa Nanajat of Minnesota, 16790 67th Street, Becker MN 55308 on Sunday August 14, 2005. The schedule is as follows:
10:00-10:30 a.m. Wishing Her Majesty Queen Sirikit happy birthday and long life.

Offering panpoom (flower arrangement on a tray that has a pedestal)

Opening krouy ( a small cone made of banana leaves)
*

Reading poem in Thai and English wishing Her Majesty a happy birthday and long life

Sing a song to salute Her Majesty the Queen
*

Special chatting in Pali by the monks wishing happy birthday and long life to Her Majesty the Queen

10:30-11:15 a.m. Thai Mother’s Day Celebration Ceremony.

All participants and members remembering their mothers and sing a song “Ka Nam Nom” “(The value of mother’s milk )”

All participants who have theirs’ mothers present, pay respect to heir mothers
*

Mothers give love and acknowledgment to their children

11:15-12:00 p.m. Religious Ceremony.

Offering lunch to the monks

All have lunch together.
