Lahore...Extremly Hot...

Ice Rinks...Needs Cool Atmosphere...

Don't see the two mixing very well. I mean I guess it will work but the ice won't be that great. I remember I use to be a big NHL fan when I lived in Toronto; whenever the Leafs played Dallas or L.A. the commentators would always talk about the ice how bad it was.

i visited this tower and went passed it many times, construction should be completed this year, thye whole building was made only the glass walls are left to be made and the inside.

my friend brought the first shop in the mall for very cheap when the mall began and now he is getting over 1 crores (100,000 pounds) offers for it.

HasanB

Im not sure exactly but its not more than 7-10 floors i think. I havent been to Lahore sine 2-3 weeks ago so i dont know the current status ... i might be going again soon though. Also one thing that i found interesting here was that their design in their brochure shows that there are escalators going from the outside parking at ground level upto the 2nd floor ... thats an interesting idea,

Looking at the different levels from the stair case......one thing i didnt like abt the stairs was that the 'Riser' height was not more than 4" and there were about 20-25 steps in the 'Straight Flight' type of staircase which was not so comofortable walking up and down.n since the lift were not installed yet, i got tired walkin 10storeys up and 12 storeys down!!!

You know what, the building looks really great. It looks really modern and stuff. But the stupid electric wiring outside destroys the damn view. When will the Pakistani learn to underground the wiring. It is not that difficult, you morons!!!

Techno-Architect
February 5th, 2006, 01:12 AM
Very true. All the cityscapes are ruined by overhead wiring. Its not that costly but the thing is once they start the digging process in Pakistan it take more time than a mega project and instead of getting benefit from it, all you will get is loads of dust, traffic jams, narrowing up of spaces, shortage of parking, urban flooding etc So its a little difficult to start undergrounding those wire in a well built and dense commercial area. But these factors can be over come in the new upcoming societies.

Sure, but the digging process only takes 5-10 days. Those problems you summed don't only take place in Pakistan but in the whole world. These Pakistanis should start thinking long term.

February 6th, 2006, 12:00 AM
well gulberg is an extremly busy place and its not ideal to dig up a road to make underground electricity.

even here in london they have these electric wires everywhere and cant put them underground because of traffic.

i just came from the tower and am very dissappointed, the exterior looks kwel but interior is just rubbish, the corridors are so cramped up there are just these tiny corridors everywhere with small bathroom size shops, and we went and asked for the price of the shops and they are selling the ground floor ones for 3.5 crores each. LOL.

this mall is doomed.

other news is that rabi center 2 is also coming up right next door to it and it looks about 15 storys, currently they are demolition the existing building on site and will start construction after.

pakboy
May 4th, 2006, 08:18 PM
one other thing about this project is that the tiles they put have all ready started cracking because of construction work by shop owners. alot of the tiles on the stair case have allready chiped.

This looks kind of like "Pacific Mall", a Chinese mall in Toronto for those who don't know.. with it's narrow corridors and smallish shops. One benefit of this, talking from personal experience.. I notice I stop at a lot more shops and do more "window shopping" since I'm so close to every shop, and this encourages me to go inside for a bit and check it out too.. whereas malls with huge, vast corridors, I'm not going to zigzag across to every store like I would at Pacific Mall.

Don't compare it to the huge North American style malls and look at it as something meant to be more intimate and it doesn't look so bad anymore.

Sikander im sure hez not comparing this mall with the Pacific malls, but imagine urself in a tiny passage that is 200 feet in depth and only 8 feet wide? is that any sort of aesthetic or good design. A prefered with for a mall or any shopping area with such a depth is ateast 10feet. When i took the pix i had the same views.....!

adil
May 6th, 2006, 09:46 AM
Sikander has a good point Pacific mall is very congested, but it is also very successful, not just with the Chinese Canadians, but with everbody. In the end its what the shops have to offer that will matter.

Good day. We build ice skating rinks worldwide and have been approached by the Rabi Centre. Are you aware of the best way to be alerted of any new rinks potentially being considered overseas. Any direction would be a great help. Thank you.

^^ Your best bet is to keep an eye on new malls coming up around the world, and if they mention ice rinks as a feature, you contact them yourself, offering your services.
